Freddie is a legend whose voice inspired/inspires Adam and countless others who make music their lives. I think Adam would be put off to see his fans claim he's better than Freddie. There is and will always be only one Freddie Mercury. You're talking about Freddie the legend, not Freddie the singer. Yes, there will always be only one Freddie Mercury, but there will also be only one Adam Lambert, and Adam Lambert is an amazing singer. It's legitimate to compare the specific criteria that define good singers--range, control, pitch, versatility, among others--and conclude that Adam is a better singer. Anyone has the right to prefer Freddie Mercury, but that doesn't necessarily make him the better singer. I actually had a similar argument with someone in the comments of Huffington Post once. I said Adam just may be the best voice in popular music today. He (I think it was a he) basically said that it's impossible to say anyone is the best singer because it depends on whom you like. Ridiculous. That's like saying if you prefer to listen to Taylor Swift rather than opera singer Beverly Sills, that means that for you Taylor Swift is the better singer. Fact is, even if you dearly love Taylor Swift and wouldn't listen to opera if it were the last music on earth, Swift is not that great of a singer and has nowhere near the ability of Beverly Sills. That's just a fact. I think anyone comparing Freddie's singing to Adam's would have to conclude that Adam has the edge in ability even if the listener prefers Freddie's style. I disagree. Perhaps it is because you are unfamiliar with the entire body of work by Freddie that you make the assumption that Adam has better range, control, pitch and versatility but Freddie had all those things and so much more. I couldn't and wouldn't ever deny Adam's talent. He's as close to Freddie as I've ever heard (or likely ever will hear) and he may be the best male singer of this generation but it does come down the subjective opinion of each person as to who the "better" singer is because they are so closely matched. Using Taylor Swift and Beverly Sills as an example is a strawman's argument IMO because no one with ears would ever dare to say that Taylor is the better singer, even if they were her biggest fan. My last comment on this subject is to say that Adam and Freddie aren't in a competition. Both can exist side by side with their voices bringing pleasure to anyone interested in listening to them.

There is and will always be only one Freddie Mercury. Just to clarify (yet again, as this is a recurring misinterpretation of my opinion) : I said that Adam is a better SINGER. I did NOT say "Adam is better" - this would make no sense at all. Freddie IS A LEGEND. He was amazing in so many ways as it's been pointed out countless times. But again, ADAM IS A BETTER SINGER in pretty much every category related to objective evaluation of singing. On purely subjective level - Adam's voice penetrates and holds me, Freddie's does not... It is the other way around for others. No reason to argue IMO. </img>

When Adam sang at IHeart I posted that I really liked the grit in his voice that night. Really liked it. And then when duetting with Fun...they matched great. I was one who appreciated the edge that Fun has in his voice and the organic way he screamed out a few phrases to the audience while the band was playing... it created energy. Did Adam sing better...perhaps so....did I appreciate the lead singer of Fun....yah...I did. That night. Previously when I heard Fun sing on some award show...I was NOT impressed...he was pushing his voice and his voice was cracking.
So what the heck am I rambling on about....not sure how to voice it, but we always COMPARE things. Choosing this apple over another in a store, who wore the same outfit better! I like Adam singing Queen songs because I LIKE Adam. I also like the quality...and I do not mean refinement...but the vocal character that Freddie's voice gave to his songs.
Brian or Roger made the statement that Adam has really grown with his voice/ or as an artist....( cannot remember the exact words used.) I would loved to have perception checked that comment...to ask exactly what were they praising. My mind took it as ...maybe it was that grit or rock edge Adam added during his practice and performance at IHeart that contributed to that statement of praise. Hey...lots of musical artists out there to appeal to our moods and needs. Sometimes I get overloaded on Adam songs and do not play them for awhile. Then along comes MTN! And if comparing ..I like his version better.
WHO CARES which version? MY ears, and my eyes! Marry the Night had GRIT...vocally and through the choreography. His performance/acting of that song was amazing, and took it to another level for my senses. It is all personal...not right or wrong, just personal preference.
Training has allowed Adam to do lots of great things with his voice, and further develop stylistic features. What he has learned ON HIS OWN...like hitting the high notes..makes me tingle. I am hearing this "newer GRITTIER" side of his voice. I love this aspect / depth of expression, that he has thrown into some recent performances.
What do we have in store with the Rachel and Elliott rocker duet? Comparisons ...yup just the way things will roll.....cause we appreciate Adam's talents.

In other words, the countdown until NBC greenlights Taylor Swift’s Evita Live! starts now.
Oh lord tvonline, don't say it! Words have power! But the article does support my argument that what works will get repeated.

I agree. I find the comparisons unnecessary. They are so different. Brian and Rodger have done a great job picking songs for Queen + AL. And I am glad they have passed on some of the tracks that are not suited to Adam's voice. "Innuendo" is better left to another signer. But I would love to see Adam cover LMEY wearing black leather... www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzpBTg-Hf1o&feature=share&list=PL7D52CDD608DDE2DD&index=2

I read Aleks twitlonger and my heart aches because this troll hurt this gentle soul. Aleks....please remember Adam's words about bullies...(yes..this troll is a frickin' bully)....' If you let these bullies affect you then they WIN! And they don't deserve to win.' I can't remember the actual quote but that is how I remember his feelings in the "It Gets Better" campaign. My reaction to trolls is to totally ignore them...they are of NO IMPORTANCE or SIGNIFICANCE to the quality of a person's life. I fight back by not letting them exist in my mind but you are a 'delicate flower', much sweeter than me, and it's hard for you to ignore such meanness. Remember Adam's words and put your 'FORCE FIELDS' up and know you have us here and friends on twitter who truly care about you and appreciate you as a person and, also, your amazing creative literary skills! Never stop creating and expressing yourself.

To paraphrase ADAM there is room for everyone. I have never understood the desire to figure out who is the better singer.IMHO, Why does it matter?why can't they each have talent, and their own individuality.. It's all so subjective and ultimately does it change anything?
It's kind of like saying I like well done steak ,It's better than medium rare steak.. HUH

It is all about the numbers and who ever brings the viewers will be cast regardless of their suitability... No one really cares of the quality as long as the advertising $$$s have their audience...nothing new, right?
