Range - Freddie - recorded vocal range G♯1-A6. I this the G♯1 could be debated based on quality but it is there. But I heard his whistle notes live and they are real. He used it like a guitar in concert. Here is one of the range sample videos. If you're gonna compare range I think it should be down to the melodic and creative use of range rather than just quantifying outright, plus anything past F2-D6 by Freddie is abysmal (though F2-D6 is still wider than A2-B5). His live whistle notes really are beautiful but like I said there are no good ones past D6. The more extreme "fanboys" out there like pitching things like voice cracks and croaky "just woke up" speaking (basically any noise he can create with his voice) which is quite laughable cause anyone can have a "5 octave range" if you do that I do think he made better use of it than Adam just cause he pushed his low register more, used whistle register and did those big multi-octave choir parts. Adam started to explore in that style a bit more on Trespassing though which is exciting

YES!
As with any artist -- how does one explain being touched emotionally by a performance. Sometimes an artist just gets to you and it has nothing to do with his/her technique. It could be the lyrics, the delivery, their expression, their tone, the key.....anything. Some days we love a certain song, other days not so much. How we invest ourselves at the moment can also influence our reaction to a performance.

Freddie is a legend whose voice inspired/inspires Adam and countless others who make music their lives. I think Adam would be put off to see his fans claim he's better than Freddie. There is and will always be only one Freddie Mercury. Just to clarify (yet again, as this is a recurring misinterpretation of my opinion) : I said that Adam is a better SINGER. I did NOT say "Adam is better" - this would make no sense at all. Freddie IS A LEGEND. He was amazing in so many ways as it's been pointed out countless times. But again, ADAM IS A BETTER SINGER in pretty much every category related to objective evaluation of singing. On purely subjective level - Adam's voice penetrates and holds me, Freddie's does not... It is the other way around for others. No reason to argue IMO. I agree there is no reason to argue, but there is a difference between an argument and a discussion. Some people agree but some people do not agree that "Adam is a better SINGER than Freddie". And certainly it is subjective -- not objective. Better is not a specific term -- it is a broad judgement and an opinion. ** That said, I will agree that Adam is a better SINGER than Taylor Swift.

Her last tweet has been on the 3rd of November. I don't know why she is offline here and on twitter. I hope everything's okay!!!! ??? She just sent out a tweet www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1rt095n Wow . I'm not much cop at all the various social sites out there. What's the best way to show Aleks we love her, miss her, support her and want her back as soon as she can possibly make it. Is Twitter still the best place for her to easily see messages. How do we reply to twitlonger?? Sorry for being so useless .

Murly: "It's legitimate to compare the specific criteria that define good singers--range, control, pitch, versatility, among others--and conclude that Adam is a better singer." I added Clarity, Timbre/Color and Tessitura. >> One thing that makes them so different for me is the difference in vocal weight -- Adam's voice is lighter, brighter and more agile; Freddie is more dramatic, powerful and darker. They both seem similarly rich to me -- with so much depth. This is one reason why Adam can bring something new to the Queen catalog -- WWTLF.
I have 7 attributes and score it Freddie 2 Adam 3 Tie 3. Looks like a tie to me because a couple could have gone either way. Clarity - Adam. Most rock purists and classic rock fans count this as a negative -- Adam has no "grit" when he sings and he has a theatrical/classic style of singing. And he freely imports classical singing techniques into rock songs.I was so busy typing my own comment in the thread... I just back tracked and read Q3's analysis. Which obviously is done with some knowledge of music..of which I have little...except if I like/dislike something. I agree whole heartedly with what I bolded in red. Important to me was what Q'3 is saying about GRIT...as that was what much of my post was about. Some quote by Gene Simmons of KISS got fan feathers ruffled when he commented on Adam's voice after their AI performance. I knew what he was meaning, as I am sure many of you did as well, Adam at that time did not showcase that harder rougher edge to a voice...a rocker voice. (often wearing out that voice after decades) Recently Adam has put some grit into the Queen songs and certainly into Marry the Night. He is truly still developing his own skills as an artist, and will perform his way, but I like the growth, and appropriateness of its useage.

Wow, massive ratings for SOML. I guess we will be seeing more of these "live for TV " musical things.
Art in all forms is SO subjective. There really is no need for labeling anyone as "better" or "best" because people will never agree. And that's probably how it should be.

I love when we have days like today. I am in the camp, I like what I like. I have no real knowledge to base an opinion on so I usually stay quiet and "just take it all in". I have learned so much here and I like both Freddie and Adam for my own personal reasons which has little or no relation to logic or music knowledge. Carry on! Educate me!!
