I think there are some things that are impossible to know and tough to judge if one's entire Freddie experience is from YT videos. Just like there is not one YT recording of Adam that matches the live experience. Talon, if Queen + Adam is ever near you, I will buy you the ticket because it is an experience to see them live. *** I introduced Adam to some family and friends last week and I played a few old Adam videos that I had not watched in a while. Some were from 2004-2008 and I noticed how much he has advanced as a vocalist and a solo performer. Most noticeable to me was he is no longer relying on the high wails for drama and his lower register is so much stronger than it was pre-Idol. *** I think that working with Roger and Brian, singing the challenging Queen songs, and having to really focus on singing songs Freddie composed -- songs that get much of the theatrical effect from mid-song key changes, intricate melodies and rapid movement across registers -- has made him a better vocalist. There is one are three old Queen songs I would love to hear Adam cover..."Lily of the Valley" (1974). youtu.be/OYJnqz9H_E0Also, "See What A Fool I've Been" (1974) would be excellent done by Adam -- a mid-tempo blues ballad written by Brian May in 1971 based on "The Way I Feel" by Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee: youtu.be/GPmC5GWMj7w And "You Take My Breath Away" (1976) youtu.be/LjAtdu1W9C8

Quote: 'Idol is not really about talent'.
Talon, we just will have to agree to disagree. I was not even watching the show, lol. But idol never said they can make a star out of a talentless hap, just by making them famous. They say they can discover somebody, make a star our of a nobody, who happens to have both the talent and personality for a singing career. And they only do that every 3-4 seasons, by the way.
There are talent shows and there are reality shows that are just about creating fame. Big Brother is the latter (sorry Sauli), idol is of the former. That does not mean that there cannot be a wonderful person coming out of Big Brother, but in general there is no talent required, just popularity. For idol you need talent to get into the top 10 or so, and many with similar talent don't make it, just because they don't fit the casting profile the producers are looking for. The latter is what makes it unfair and discouraging for some who may have had the skills, but have to look for other ways to make it further.
The question is whether talent shows can find somebody as mega big as a 'Freddie' was, and the going opinion was, no they don't. Well, and Adam is knocking at that door and challenging that statement and I think that is what many resent. Idol is allowed to produce the likes of Carrie or Daughtry or Fantasia. But idol is not allowed to produce a REAL icon or at least that seems to be the consensus.
As many have already pointed out. Talent shows and TV magic have produced a Frank Sinatra and a Justin T. I just don't think that these critiques have it right.
What I do think, is that it takes an awful lot of wasted hours to find one star, and so I let others watch these shows, until, I get some alert that there is something worthwhile going on. And then I watch. But I do think that talent can come out of as unlikely places as Indian boarding schools or California talent shows. It just is pure luck, and everybody has a path, somehow, somewhere, and somewhere along the way, gets a break to make a major jump. At least those with talent do.

$120,000/per year is what he possibly makes for one performance. Adam gets $250K for one performance -- he has to pay the band and a few other expenses. So he safely clears $120K a concert. More for the concerts in Asia. He did not tour extensively this year, but he did enough concerts to be in excellent financial shape. Performances (20+ concerts), royalties, Glee guest star, appearance fees, he is doing fine. And, next up is a new record deal. From what we know of Adam's finances, he is very conservative. I think (guessing) the apt move was part of downsizing because he was going to be single again. He and Sauli moved in January 2013. In early April, Adam said the breakup was in the works for a couple of months. So just my thought, but it seemed like a transitional most to me. Regarding the boots, the Biloxi concert will pay for his boots for the next 5 years and jackets too!! I like to think my money is going for important causes! Are you sure Adam gets $250K for every single one of these concerts? I calculate that the total box office take for Biloxi will be about $100K, maybe slightly more, if totally sold out. How can they afford to pay Adam $250K? The Hard Rock's hotel was already sold out when the concert was announced, so they are not making any money there. Every concert attendee would have to spend another $150 on Hard Rock property for the Hard Rock to break even. I know I am not.
