I guess someone is looking after me. I clicked on the Katy Perry video and it said it was blocked for copyright reasons. My ears have been saved from bleeding. As to the comment that there is more to live singing than a good voice, I agree 100%. For me, MY OPINION ONLY NOT TRYING TO ARGUE WITH ANYONE ELSE'S PERSPECTIVE, a great voice alone does not make a great live performer. But, without a good voice capable of performing live, consistently and in tune, the rest of the bells, whistles, stage presence, emotional intensity, audience rapport, sense of fun, sexuality, great dancing, and ability to simultaneously make baked alaska is not enough. For me, I have to be listening to a good voice. It does not have to be at Adam's level, but, if I cringe, even once, that's pretty much it for me. Sorta like when I am eating fish. If I find just one pin bone in my mouth that gets stuck in my throat, I don't care if I am at a 5 star restaurant, and the meal cost $500. I am done. Love your analogy of the fishbone and music appreciation. I do agree. If you can't swim get out of the deep end of the pool and if you can't sing get off the stage. Bells and whistles just don't do it for me; the voice comes first. KP seems to sing those bouncy, sweet pop confections much better the one she sang on the X-Factor. It is totally forgettable, as is evidenced by the fact that I cannot remember the tiltle.

I love what she said about Adam at iHeart too. I have positive feelings about her and those set me up for liking her as a singer and entertainer.

My thanks too, Q3!! Having so much fun with the smileys. And Soundcloud, private smileys..which I don't know how to do either. I'd also appreciate having the instructions somewhere on Atop. #slowlearner Had to bring a little Depp-th to the Katy thread.. I will put together a more detailed set of instructions later this week. In the meantime, look at page 1 of this thread. The instructions are there. Just follow them and.... [ransom]And you could soon be writing ransom notes[/ransom] [smear:FF0000]OR CREATING RAINBOWS[/smear:FFFF00]

Planet Rock is supposed to release the Brian interview tomorrow. But it seems that Brian and Roger kind of already broke the news. All I am expecting is the full interview which will include his "string of shows" quote. IDK, why some are expecting more? Planet Rock is supposed to have the geography and timeframe. Geography might be US, Canada (Roger confirmed Canada) and maybe Japan. But aside from hints, we have no confirmation on anything except Canada.

The way I see it, there are burger places like McD and there are fine dining restaurants. And the reality is that for every 1000 burgers that MD sells, there is maybe one order at a fine dining restaurant. I can complain all I want that the burger meat is pre-frozen and of questionable quality, and dripping fat and has food coloring or whatever they do to that meat, but the reality is, people are not going to care. If they want a quick burger, they will go and eat that, even if it is bad for them on top of tasting bland.
Same in music, the masses will listen to what they like and quality of singing just does not rank high with people. The comment section under that video clearly demonstrates that while many people pick up on the fact that the singing was off, the explanations or excuses given are outright hilarious and clearly demonstrate that for those folks it does not matter what they are being served. They will never know the difference, and actually will reject the fine dining food, because their taste buds are not developed for it, just like their ears are not developed for Adam's exquisite singing.
All the whining or finger pointing about this does not help, because this is not going to change. Adam's goal can only be to follow his own path and let those that get it come to him. What he needs in a label is folks that will expose that which Adam has to offer to as many people as possible. And RCA did not want to do that anymore. And obviously, as Adam has always maintained, there is a balance between commerce and art to be struck, and he needs to best seek that compromise, to make his overall career work for him and those that work with him.
But neither should Adam orient himself on KP or others like her, just because that is where the mighty dollar lands most often, nor should KP not be allowed her simple songs, just because she does not meet our criteria for a singer. I do think, though that it is fair game to point out deficiencies. KP needs to continue her 'burger factory' because that is what she is about. Just like I eat at MD, even though I know that I should not, I love KP and listen to her on radio, and have no problem with what she does. But I will not buy an album or go to her concerts, whereas Adam will get my attention and money every time. The good news is, there is room for everybody.

Just for having the guts to release "I Kissed a Girl" as her first single and for the "Adam Lambert" cape and for writing and singing "Firework", Katy Perry will always have a special place in my heart.
