This was the first time I ever heard Katy Perry sing live. May 13, 2009Top 3 Waking Up In Vegas (Results Show Guest Performance)Katy Perry wears a cape with Adam Lambert embroidered on the back. v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTY1NTYyMjMy.html First time for me too, and I've been a fan ever since. First time for me also. I was already an Adam fan so I appreciated the cape and didn't listen to the singing. Now when I listen more critically, I feel it was a weak vocal performance, even though I am a still a fan of her.

The way I see it, there are burger places like McD and there are fine dining restaurants. And the reality is that for every 1000 burgers that MD sells, there is maybe one order at a fine dining restaurant. I can complain all I want that the burger meat is pre-frozen and of questionable quality, and dripping fat and has food coloring or whatever they do to that meat, but the reality is, people are not going to care. If they want a quick burger, they will go and eat that, even if it is bad for them on top of tasting bland. Same in music, the masses will listen to what they like and quality of singing just does not rank high with people. The comment section under that video clearly demonstrates that while many people pick up on the fact that the singing was off, the explanations or excuses given are outright hilarious and clearly demonstrate that for those folks it does not matter what they are being served. They will never know the difference, and actually will reject the fine dining food, because their taste buds are not developed for it, just like their ears are not developed for Adam's exquisite singing. All the whining or finger pointing about this does not help, because this is not going to change. Adam's goal can only be to follow his own path and let those that get it come to him. What he needs in a label is folks that will expose that which Adam has to offer to as many people as possible. And RCA did not want to do that anymore. And obviously, as Adam has always maintained, there is a balance between commerce and art to be struck, and he needs to best seek that compromise, to make his overall career work for him and those that work with him. But neither should Adam orient himself on KP or others like her, just because that is where the mighty dollar lands most often, nor should KP not be allowed her simple songs, just because she does not meet our criteria for a singer. I do think, though that it is fair game to point out deficiencies. KP needs to continue her 'burger factory' because that is what she is about. Just like I eat at MD, even though I know that I should not, I love KP and listen to her on radio, and have no problem with what she does. But I will not buy an album or go to her concerts, whereas Adam will get my attention and money every time. The good news is, there is room for everybody. QFA! You took the burger out of my mouth (I nearly wrote the same today, but for various reasons decided not to post.)

Just for having the guts to release "I Kissed a Girl" as her first single and for the "Adam Lambert" cape and for writing and singing "Firework", Katy Perry will always have a special place in my heart. I remember hearing some within idol who were not ok with her showing biast, but that cld of been some butthurt idol fandoms haha. Hopefully they collaborate in the future.

The competing Idols were not happy about it, fans of other Idols were irate. The Producers were apparently surprised by the cape -- and had not seen it. Adam just laughed. I do not think it helped Adam. It was on the Top 3 results show, and by then votes were already in for the Top 3 and it was not a factor in the final vote, 1 week later.

I was bored back in 2009 and decided to turn on the TV to find something to watch. I flipped through the channels and saw that American Idol was on. "Okay, let's see what's going on with this stupid show tonight. Maybe there will be some entertaining train wreck. Whut!! That doesn't look like a typical AI contestant. What country song is this goth guy going to sing?"
Adam sang "Ring of Fire" and I went down the rabbit hole. Fate is a strange thing. Frankly, since that night, I have never been the same. Who knew that random channel flipping would bring me to where I am today. Who knew that one random hearing of one unknown singer would turn a key and open some many doors, windows, portals, portholes, etc. I stepped through the looking glass and found people of like minds, learned so many new things, learned how to love without judgement, met so many new people that I consider friends even though I have not met most of them. It's strange. It's kinda weird. But when I read your posts and see your joy, my heart is like a radiant rainbow. I don't understand why or how it happened, but as stupid as it may seem to all the rest of the world, somehow I became a better person.
Now that's what I call a hella connection.
Somehow, Adam became a connection to we the people of Adamtopia and those like minded people who are Adam fans. He was an explosive catalyst. A commonality. What I am trying to say is, Adam brought us together, but I hope he is not the only thing that keeps us together.

I always wondered about this too as I used to check this site often and remember when it used to be $5 million for many years. I thought I remembered a comment someone made on that site recently saying that it had to be more since he had those shows with Queen and his WAF tour. I can no longer find that comment anywhere but maybe it caused the people at celebritynetworth.com to do more research on him. ETA: Here is another site. www.theirnetworth.com/Musicians/Adam_Lambert/ It says $6.5 million. So I have to believe it is more than $5 million now. I remember this exact same thing....where in response to comments, they upped the estimate from $5m to $10m at a stroke so I don't think this can be very scientific. This prompts me to say that, when discussing the rights and wrongs of Adam with Queen - isn't the money an important consideration? He doesn't know how long he will be earning big bucks so perhaps he is just trying to maximise his earnings when the opportunities arise. He isn't at the point yet where he can afford to turn down major earning opportunities, which I assume this is. Does anyone have any idea how much Glee would pay? I wouldn't know if it was $10k or $100k an episode.....
