Have I ever said that every time I have a salad at home I think of you all here? That's because you talked me going to Romaine lettuce and I've never gone back. I don't miss the days of wilted red leaf lettuce because Romaine stays fresh almost forever. I've even started getting the 5 pack of Romaine hearts from Costco because they are so clean compared to what I'm getting at the grocery. I can leave them without doing anything or I can wash them and put them in a plastic bag. I mean they won't last forever forever but they do pretty dang well. The only thing I keep having to work on is getting used to the large stem area as remember I'm a leaf person, but some fine cutting and freshness it all works out.
So anyway thanks to you I have no excuse not to have fresh salads.

It tastes nothing like cooked spinach (which I hate) and I buy the prewashed plastic tubs of organic and find it keeps fairly well. I can buy a 10 oz container and it lasts me about a week with no problem. I got it originally for doing smoothies but I also make salads with it and like it a lot.

Ugh, back up the .8 lbs I lost a couple of weeks ago. Thought I was making some progress at least, but obviously not. Going to a conference on Sunday, so am going to miss next week's check-in, and there'll be lots of wine present! See you all in a couple of weeks, and hope you're doing better than I am right now!

OOOPs, looks like we are a little slow around here. I keep meaning to drop in on Wed and I forget. But I'm not forgetting that I'm supposed to be working on something. I did a little mind control exercise the other day that really helped me. I can't remember now what I was reading about online but something about it clicked for me in a way I could use. Snacking is my downfall and you know we just had Halloween. So I got out my golf score counter. It's this mechanical counting device you wear like a wristwatch and you depress a button on a spring and it counts up for you all the way to 99. So I pressed the button every time I thought of "candy" and didn't have any. So I could think of candy all I wanted as long as I didn't eat it. I just did it for one day and even made hubby take the candy he had bought (we have no trick or treaters) to his office and I've been really good. I need to use the same method on other things in the house but my will power really was increased by this simple thing.

Well, everyone seems to have kinda dropped off here, including me some weeks! Missed checking in last week. Weighted myself this morning and instead of losing I've been going up little bits, even though I'm trying. Obviously not hard enough, so will try to do better and stop the upward slide!

We have ice and slick roads and cold, but thankfully not like New York. So I've been riding my indoor bike. It has absolutely been the best equipment I've ever gotten and it was not that expensive. My mom got one for after her knee replacement and hers has done very well also. If anyone is interested they are the orange Marcy recumbent bikes available at Fred Meyers etc for under $200. Perfectly quiet and works great. I think I've had mine for three years now. The only thing I have to do is add a cushion for behind my back and I'm off. Even found a way to drape my tablet on the control panel so I can watch Adam vids.
Last year was the first year we made it all the way to the end without going for months incommunicado, so I figure we are still fairly on schedule. Question for next year though. Should I start a new thread like we have in the past or just keep going on this one so we don't have to change bookmarks?

Should I start a new thread like we have in the past or just keep going on this one so we don't have to change bookmarks? I think starting a new thread every year is great because that way each year has its own thread for when we want to check back and we can also start it off by setting our new goals for the year. Maybe put the link to the recipe thread in the first post so that as we go along if we share a recipe we could make sure to also put them in the recipe thread. ETA: After a few weeks of creeping up because I'm enjoy my food too much I managed to drop back a couple of pounds. The encouraging thing is that it really just took a couple of days actually keeping my numbers in line. By continuing to track I can ensure that I know exactly when I am straying too far and reverse the trend with just some slight modifications.

Oh, dear!! This is a difficult time of year to try to rein in eating. I have regained 10 lbs!!!!! Ugh!! I am desperate to get back in to at least some semblance of control. I have signed up for MyFitnessPal and I do think that tracking will help. Hope the rest of you are doing better!!

I am giving myself the Holiday season off as far as caring about whether or not I am gaining, but still tracking so I know exactly what is going on.
