Grrrr - arguing with someone who thinks that Adam didn't do a very good job of imitating Hendrix. Here we go -- trying once again to explain that he's not trying to imitate anyone. It's beginning to get tiresome. The Freddie argument revisited. I know the feeling. Some people just don't get it no matter how you try to explain it to them. Finally I just think 'whatever' and stop trying!lol Don't want to put down your "friend" or whoever you are arguing with, but anyone who thinks a singer should be imitating the original artists when they do a cover is truly a musical idiot! Sorry!

A comment at Riddle's YouTube of Adam's cover of Red House:

I'm not even familiar with you, dude, but that cover kicks legitimate ass. If you do plastic pop, switch to real music, because you and your band are excellent at it.

Adam is only 214 twitter followers away from 2.2 million! Not quite Katy Perry territory, but not too shabby either.

I love how Adam is getting introduced to such a variety of different types of music lovers. The man can sing anything and own it! Amazing!

He has lowered the key by a minor third (a step and a half) which, in terms of the sound, the mood of the piece, and the darkness or weight, is significant. If you listen to the first verse of the Winstar and then, immediately listen to the Idol performance, you will note that the Idol version sounds lighter and brighter, not as melancholy, even tho it is a slower tempo. Adam also adds a darker color to his voice in terms of harmonics and fullness. Not as baritone as in Crazy at Upright, but a similar idea. Compared side by side, Idol and Winstar almost sound like different singers. Certainly different colors and moods. That is part of Adam's brilliance. I played Adam singing "Red House" to a friend who is just starting to get to know Adam -- it was right after I played Stay from South Korea. While "Red House" was playing she said, "It doesn't sound like the same singer." His versatility is somewhat surprising. The versatility is what keeps me around - surprises galore and thanks to those who explained the Mad World sound - I loved it and Red House - oh, my - I am a blues person - I just keep playing it. Is there a "fainting from ecstasy" smilie?

One of the best things ive read. Hopefully I get to go to an Adam concert soon all of these wonderful things I hear is just heartwarming I've never seen AFL live but if I ever do, I imagine I'd be totally consumed with seeing him again as soon as possible. I think it was Q3 who said that it may be harder on those who've already seen him to miss out on a concert than those who haven't. I can see that. If I experienced him, I would realize the magnitude of what I'd been missing, and the yearning would be harder to ignore. An exquisite dilemma, to be sure. That said, adamjacko, I hope we both get to see him soon!

I also agree for the need for a "fainting from ecstasy" smilie for that performance!

It's been a rough end of the year, and when I think I can't feel anything and prefer to be numb, along comes something like Adam's cover of "Red House," and it moves me so deeply. I've played it often today, and every time I watch or listen I've got the gospel wave going before it's over and every time I say damn when it ends. So good. So much soul. The performance has everything I love about music. I hope there are some blues-tinged songs on the new album.
