I think he would be open to opening for someone as huge (and compatible) as Katy Perry. If he wants to reach the next level, he needs a bigger audience. it could also help him be seen as more relevant within the current music scene. Sorry, but there is no proof that opening builds an audience, especially for someone as specific as Adam. We can just use Jordin Sparks, Scotty, and even Kris Allen as examples. Just to name a few Idols. And the P!NK opening acts both tours? I don't even know where they are now. I have never once gone to a show to see an opening act & often i skip the opening act or come late. I tend to agree, but he needs to try something new and different, imo. I think a lot of it has to do with the compatibility of the opening act. I know several people who actually bought the PP album after catching him with John Mayer---one guy even left the concert more impressed with Phillip than John.

GREAT article!! VIDEO: ADAM LAMBERT Premieres New Song 'Lay Me Down'; Covers HendrixVocal superstar, #1 Billboard album chartist, Grammy nominee, songwriter, actor and LGBT role-model & activist Adam Lambert returned to Oklahoma's Winstar Hotel and Casino to close out an extremely memorable 2013 with a high energy show. For only the second time ever, Lambert performed a live version of "Lay Me Down", a joint collaboration between DJ/producer Avicii and the legendary founder of Chic, Nile Rodgers. This disco funk dance jam features on Avicii's debut studio album 'True', released in September 2013. Also during the appearance, Lambert gave the jam-packed crowd a New Year's Eve treat by performing a bluesy new cover, "Red House", originally by Jimi Hendrix. Check out both performances below! "Lay Me Down" can be purchased via iTunes: itunes.apple.com/us/album/lay... Adam's sophomore album 'Trespassing' which debuted at #1 on Billboard upon its release in 2012 can be purchased via: iTunes itunes.apple.com/us/album/tre... or Amazon amzn.com/B007ZVSHR0Lambert is currently working on his 3rd studio album, hopefully to be released in 2014. The singer first appeared on the Billboard charts in 2009, when eight of the songs he performed on FOX's American Idol made their first appearances. The rock star went on to further success The Following year when his single, "Whataya Want from Me" reached number 10 on the Hot 100. He can currently be seen in a guest starring role on FOX's GLEE. Agree. No to an opening act. I usually skip them and arrive in time for the act I am actually paying money, fighting traffic, and being scalped for parking in order to see live. To me, opening acts have always been "fillers" to make it worth the time, money and effort to see a live show. Audiences expect two to three hours or "entertainment", but most don't pay any attention to anyone but the main attraction.
Of course, for those who are actually there for the opening act, and are listening and watching, Adam would be very impressive, but I don't want him to have to work so hard to just get the attention of fans of another artist. He feeds off our energy, and the dynamic would be very different as an opening act performer.
Plus, no pop star out there would want to go on stage after Adam sang if they have any ear for music. Even Adam's Wicked cast mates didn't want to sing after him at the Karaoke bar, cuz he was too good.
Nope, I would prefer smaller venues and less super stardom to trying to beg an audience from another pop star. IMO. You can state your opinion as well, but, nothing will change how I feel about this.
