I don't think they are the best contestants that Idol could find. They are all fairly young and inexperienced and I think Idol is trying to set the show apart from the Voice which often has contestants who are more professional. I think Idol this year is trying to take the audience on a journey with the contestants as we see them grow and improve each week. Now I'm not too sure if that is working or not -- because some of the performances so far have been pretty awful vocally or have a very uncomfortable feeling. I would think that would turn some of the audience off. I can't say any of the contestants have grabbed me at all, but I keep watching!

Anyone else tired of the camera lingering on JLo and sometimes Keith or all three judges together while the contestant sings? It seems a bit excessive this year.
So Majesty is gone -- no save -- no surprise there. I am somewhat surprised about Sam in the bottom 3 again. Who are the young girls voting for or have they abandoned Idol? The facebook voting pics are interesting -- they seem to be mostly older, female and white (IMO).

Not terribly surprising that Idol has not really brought in new younger viewers. I think it is mostly longtime viewers who are watching and voting. I have to admit I'm only watching because I hope Adam will be on later. I hope that no more girls get voted off for a while.

Sam was saved -- no surprise there either. I have a soft spot for Sam -- he does have a lovely voice -- just really lacks stage presence. He looks so uncomfortable most of the time. I wonder what he's like when the camera is not present. I thought Harry gave him some really good advice about picking someone in the audience and connecting with that person. I think he was trying to do that while singing for the save.
I'm also watching the Voice and there really is no comparison between their contestants and Idol's this year. I wonder how many people have switched and dropped Idol.

I kinda like Sam but I think it was a mistake to save him. This was his third time in the bottom three. He will be gone again in a week or two. However, I think it should have been CJ. He has not yet managed to sing a whole song in pitch.

Totally agree about CJ. Also I'm not keen on Dexter, but then I'm def not a country music fan. I'm impressed with the improvement that Jena has shown. At this point, I think I'm hoping she wins. It will also be interesting to see Caleb do something different.

Well, I thought that Alex and Caleb were the only ones who really stepped up this week. I'm not sure any of them have star quality. The viewer ratings are dropping lower every week.

It was nice to see David Cook (although, of course, I was wishing it was Adam (ahem). I really liked David during his season and he gave some good advice last night. I agree about the lack of star power -- I'd say they are all lacking the "it" factor. I really haven't figured out if there is a front runner though.

Well, Dexter is gone so I guess he wasn't the front runner!!! Let's see what happens tomorrow night. Meanwhile, I'm watching the Voice on my PVR and all those contestants seem to be connecting (although they all seem similar belting out their songs).

I'm hoping either Alex or Jena wins. Caleb is good but rockers rarely make it all the way. CJ, Jess and Sam can leave now! Yes, The Voice is a bit more entertaining these days.
