I get the fan excitement for having such a strong Canadian Olympic Team but I am not sure I get the smack the Canadian snowboarders threw at Shawn White. Not Classy, and not very "Canadian" based on my experience. I chalk it up to young, arrogant X-gamers, but that probably cost them a ton of fans and endorsements. You just don't diss Shawn White. Thankfully they deleted the worst tweets. Whaaaaaaaa???? Canadian snowboarders have been evil? ??? Why would anyone be dissing Shaun White???

Well...it looks like we're gonna get Adam's INTENSE FORWARD MOTION!!! YAY!!! That Glam kitty was soooo cute putting it's little paw on Adam's face. We've had some nasty weather here mostly cold and wet but we may (noooo) get some snow this weekend but more in the 1-3 inch range. Spring where are you???? Q3, thanks for the ice skating thread. I love the winter Olympics, especially the Ice Skating. Here's my favorite figure skating to Adam's music. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyUCqUbkvpA

We won't even recognize this bland little number when Adam SINGS! IT! It might be a bland little number, but I agree: the Gleeks will LOVE it, and I will love it because, well... it's Adam singing something new and IDGAF what it is as long as it's new music!! And I'm assuming Melvin will be MIA, which will make me ridiculously HAPPY!!!!

Really? I loved it! Thought they sounded great! Letterman was complimentary! but... but.... mys*&@^#r, they didn't even look at each other! Well, I could only watch about 3/4 of the vid, because I always hated that song. Maybe they actually looked at each at the end? IMO, this why any duet that Adam does is FABULOUS, because he totally engages with the other person---> it's a true duet. There was zero interaction goin' on between these two. I think Ivy glanced over at Sting several times, but for Sting it was almost like Ivy didn't exist. Gotta agree with you, Seoulmate. Ivy was trying her best to sauce up the song and get her body moving, but I've never seen Sting so sticklike. She had nothing to play off and wasn't about to steal the limelight from a legend. He didn't move or interact..I was so rooting for Ivy. Was this her first TV appearance? (and I have huge respect for Sting..off night perhaps?) This duet could have been SO much fun. And it fell flat for me.

Regarding intense forward motion, I think it has started, but is just not being shared with fans. After the oversharing that Adam did on FYE and Trespassing (which did not serve either project well from critical reception to sales promo), I think it is a smart move to stage the promo properly. But we got used to Adam sharing things along the way and it is hard to deal with there being so little communication -- like no communication. Finally, I like the quiet because it usually means that Adam is working, and I want new music more than I want news. Okay, I need to know a couple of things: 1) How did Adam "overshare" during the runup to FYE and Trespassing? 2) And if he actually *did* overshare, how did that hurt him in the long run? How did his sharing hurt critical reception and sales promo? As y'all know, I don't do twitter, so I can't go back 3-4 years and see what kind of sharing was going on at the time, but my tired old brain doesn't remember stuff that would have hurt Adam's promo and/or the reception to his music. Can you guys enlighten me, please? TBH, I don't remember too much leading up to Trespassing's release (except the delays and the ultra crappy BTIKM), but I do remember the build up to FYE and it was SO MUCH FUN because there were so many tweets from various songwriters/producers and everyone was so excited! Adam is the one who said it but when he mentioned it in a couple of interviews, it sounded like it was a retrospective analysis of why Trespassing did not have much media buzz after the release. There was much more press about the album and Adam before Trespassing than after the release. That is a fact that can be derived from Google news mentions. The cause can be debated. My guess is that the combination of the long prerelease promo period and RCA pushing back the release date was a problem -- Adam ended up talking about the album for almost 18 months before it was release. When it came out there was almost nothing new to discover or for him to talk about. It is not how music is usually promoted. There are two typical promotion paths: Raise the artist's profile, release and promote a lead single (usually not the best track on the album), release the album and talk about the album after release. (usually what is done with an artist who is also a personality -- JLo, Katy Perry, etc. I would put Adam here.) Or, there can be very limited promotion of the artist and the focus is on promoting the music. This is often done for new artists and for artists who are not big personalities or who are best known for their music.
But artists do not generally share every recording session and collaborator with the press and fans as it happens -- which Adam pretty much did with both albums.
The reason is that if you reveal too much in advance, there is no news after the release.

My memory is not all it should be but I can think of a number of times we have seen Adam in duets...some pre idol and others post. My prayer twice...once with cantor ??name? and with Noa Dori [sp? again] Duet at pr event for Wicked; most/many stage singing has elements of a 'duet' in that there is sharing of the spotlight
idol and post idol: Alison Iraheta; Kris Allen [finale; Ford showcase]; Alison and Kris [RMT] Alisan [Aftermath]; Angie [Titanium]; Young contestant in China [WWFM]; Fun w/Queen, iheart; Russian/Ukraine singer w/queen @ Kiev;
I am sure I have missed lots...I have ignored 'group' sings or just audio [such as with Eden Espinoza]
