Adam is great, articulate, all over that workshop and in his element. Love to hear him speak and be given such respect. So deserved and I hope we get to see a lot of it.
Got to give Chris credit though for his one comment, starting at 0:36 in his video.
Don't try to please those folks that don't get you anyway. Understand those that do get you, that is your audience. Great point!
I think, with twitter just a fingertip away, and everybody having an equal voice on twitter, it is so easy to hear all the critique, uttered by people who you in real life would never given any credence or be in your market. But on twitter, their critique stings, or is distorting your perception or at minimum creates background noise, that an artist needs to blend out, but it is probably hard to do so.
It really only matters what your audience or your potential audience thinks and does. Everything else does not.
Difficult for an artist to on one hand remain sensitive and receptive as an artist and on the other hand shut out all the chatter.

I love that Adam's video is 100% Adam, but the other two had to have other people speaking edited in!  Noticed that right away. Love it. He is so good. |

Particularly, "gofamgo." Family is so important for anyone, and supportive families are rare. Adam, it seems, has always craved family and community, and I am so pleased to see him build a strong family of choice in addition to having a great family of origin. Fame, fortune, top 40 hits, TV appearances.... all wonderful. But transitory and overrated. Family? That's real. That's crucial. Adam has that. So happy for him. |
