Last week, the band’s publicists, Roger & Cowan, sent out a cryptic "save the date" notice announcing the 10:30 a.m. press conference at New York's Madison Square Garden. No further details were given. Although the band has played a handful of well-received shows with Lambert at the mic, the upcoming concerts will be the first serious North American gigs with the TV star front and center. Lambert, who has been the most recent frontman to take the stage with Queen, follows the band's first replacement for the late Freddie Mercury -- Bad Company and Free vocalist Paul Rodgers. Back in 1992 the rock world was stunned and amazed when George Michael led the band at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, when he joined the band for a near definitive on performance of "Somebody To Love" at London's Wembley Stadium. We asked drummer Roger Taylor why Queen passed on exploring such an obviously bankable scenario: "We never really wanted to do that route. We had a lot of offers, etc. etc. We could've done it, let's face it. But I think it would've been a little sad, I think. We wouldn't have felt -- I don't think we would've continued long doing it, y'know? We wanted to do the thing with Paul because he was always quality in our view and it was Queen plus Paul Rodgers, y'know? It was never him pretending to be the lead singer of Queen, so that seemed to work. We would have never done, say, the Journey route, or whatever. It was never really our way of doing things." |

Lisa @floridagirl999 OMG! My Orlando radio station just mentioned about Adam and Queen possibly touring! Spoke highly of Adam and said he did great at iHeart. Could it be that TPTB (Clear Channel) have a financial interest in this deal and will strongly encourage radio stations to promote this tour? I know nothing. I would love to hear someone with expertise in this business take a guess. Whatever is happening, QAL is getting some great comments, which should also bode well for Adam's single/albuim. |

Queen shows with Adam Lambert this year appears to be on the horizon. The group has scheduled a Thursday (March 6) press conference at New York's Madison Square Garden and is expected to announce shows, and possibly an extensive tour, with the former "American Idol" finalist, who performed with Queen on the show and has also played an assortment of dates fronting the group since 2012. Lambert stepped in after former Bad Company and Free frontman Paul Rodgers ended his four-year tenure with the band in 2009. Drummer Roger Taylor previously told us that Lambert is a great fill-in for the late Freddie Mercury: "He's sensational. I describe him as almost a camp Elvis (Presley). He has this unbelievable range, 'cause Freddie had a great range. Adam can really cover it. He's an extraordinary singer and a real talent. I feel he fits into our sort of theatricality. It was very comfortable." Taylor and guitarist Brian May are currently working on an album of outtakes and unfinished studio sessions, including some recordings Mercury made with Michael Jackson during 1983.

All I know is that I completely randomly found our local lite rock/easy listening station talking about Adam and Queen while my radio was randomly scanning through channels (bored while stuck in traffic - but I stopped the scan super quick when I heard Adam's name).
If THEY'RE talking about it (and pretty complementary to Adam too, I might add), I'm guessing every other "real" rock station is talking about it as well. Haven't heard the Top 40 stations say anything, but I'm usually pretty aggressive about skipping commercials and jabber. So if I come across talk, its usually only because traffic conditions are so bad I can't take my hands off the wheel.
