Adam has brought in 5K+ to venues and very recently, at that. Why is he not touring by himself? Because he is working on an album and at the moment has nothing "solo" to promote. The Queen team, I would imagine, is doing almost all the prep for this tour. So, not a lot of time that he would have to devote right now and certainly no monetary investment either. The Queen tour is great exposure not to mention great $$. This tour will gross, at a minimum, about 25 million! I say minimum because I didn't use any VIP prices for my math. And I am betting that the Ultimate VIP package will be around $500. For something like this would Adam be paid a set fee, considering the number of performances, or would he receive a percentage of the net. I know that the management groups probably negotiated all the particulars but I don't know how this works. I am guessing that it is a set fee. And a good one at that!

Ahhhh - been so waiting for this tour, but I can't go to see it live and I am bummed . In LA, too, but it's our anniversary, my DH is not into Queen, and he got tickets for WWRY at the end of July for a Christmas present (is there a half happy/half sad face?). Fingers crossed that you all get fantastic seats and take lots of fantastic videos (I'm a little selfish, too).

I get that he is working on his "solo" album and has nothing "solo" to promote but I was talking about "TP promotion" ?? where was TP promotion? If he could as Q3 said sell out 5-10K venues in the US why then wasn't Adam touring with TP? It really doesn't make any sense.....if Adam could sell out 5-10K venues on his own --he wouldn't need Queen Not hard to understand---- I said, 5K, not 5-10. He could do 10 but it would have to be the right area of the country. Were you a fan when he came back from the WAG tour? It was known then that he was not touring. There are many reasons to not tour for Trespassing and just do one offs. The major reason is he left his label sometime in April. But why he would turn down a tour that will gross him several million & requires no monetary investment from him, while his new songs are being mastered is not hard to understand. I agree. Not hard to understand at all!

I, too, am curious about how much $$$ Adam stands to make on this tour. I hope it is something close to obscene. tee hee. Yet, I don't think the money was the determining factor in Adam deciding to tour with Queen. I don't think it influenced the decision at all, frankly.
Fans love to speculate about what Adam is planning, thinking, feeling. What his motives are. What his idea of success is. What he will do next and why. We get clues from what he says in interviews, but, IMO, the boy has developed an excellent filter, and he knows how to work a soundbite. He is performing in interviews as much as he is performing on the stage. We all interpret what Adam says and does through what we have previously seen and heard from him, but also from our own life experiences, perspectives, and personalities.
My perspective is mainly as a singer and musician and an observer of many dedicated/obsessive musicians over my lifetime. Adam wants to perform for an audience. NEEDS to perform. Lives to perform. Arenas or tiny rooms in radio stations; a quarter million or twenty-five individuals. State of the art concert halls, or converted slaughterhouses. We talk about Adam being addictive for us. Well, performing is a lifelong addiction for Adam, starting at the age of ten. In the UpClose interview toward the end Adam says at one point before Idol he was kinda scared about his future, but after all this, he no longer has a question. He knows he is going to get to perform for the rest of his life. (Even at 18 years old, he knew that is what he wanted to do, and what would make him happy.) With Queen Adam is able to perform at the very highest level. I am sure he is thrilled.
The other thing I "know" is that Adam wants to sing. NEEDS to sing. Cannot stop singing. Whatever else he does in his life, with his life, he will always sing. It is not a choice. It is a compulsion. An addiction. Like breathing. What he sings, where he sings, with whom, I cannot predict. But, I would bet my life's savings that no matter what, Adam will be singing. The music of Queen is a challenge to sing, technically, interpretively, and emotionally. I also know what a joy it is to sing and/or play with other talented, skilled, experienced, inspired musicians. I am sure he is thrilled.
Adam is doing what he has always wanted to do. Always needed to do. And what very few others on this planet can do at the level he can. How many of us can say that about our own lives? I am so happy for him.

Putting on my mod hat: ATop is a place for lively discussion and debate. We agree to disagree. But we also agree to state our opinions AS opinions, and then let it go. Just a reminder not to continue stating or defending the same opinion repeatedly. What size venues Adam could hypothetically sell out in the US has been debated. Opinions stated. Opposing opinions stated. Time to move on to another topic, please. Cassie

Just wondering why people are dissecting hypothetical sales impact of Adam on the ticket... no way we will ever know. Speculation is fun and all but (IMHO) after a while it just becomes kind of pointless.
On the topic of why he would tour with Queen if he could sell out 5-10k venues on his own. Oh let me click my heels and say master plan. That is keep playing 5k venues to same basic group of people and hope something breaks on radio next time to up that number or get massive exposure in arenas to a whole new bunch of people...
Cassie - posted this at same time as your note so feel free to edit delete my post no problems.

What you say is like seeing what one artist sees through another artist's eyes. Beautiful! I feel that music is part of Adam's every fiber...he will definitely always sing. It is part of his soul. And I am so ready to hear more of his music!

I wonder if Queen Extravaganza provided Queen with a solid idea of numbers in North America? I'm guessing but if they did many, many 2000 seat venues, then surely some of those fans would want to check out Roger and Brian and Adam? A cursory look at QE vids show comment after comment about Marc Martel being better and why can't Roger and Brian go out on the road with him etc. Maybe they would boycott Q + A wishing for Martel but maybe not? Just wondering if that would be considered die-hard, to go to a tribute band show.
The more I look at iheartradio vs London performances...Adam's voice got even better, or rather the way he used it for Queen songs seemed perfect. Imagine what it'll sound like this summer.
Good luck to everyone tomorrow with tickets!
