Cassie's post on page 15 of yesterday's thread needs to be brought over for today. It was brilliant and perfectly explains why Queen + Adam Lambert is such a big deal to people outside our bubble. I'm going to send that to family/friends who don't get Adam and it will help them get a perspective on how this tour came about organically and is really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Thanks Cassie!

To the contrary, their comments seem to imply that they were NOT contemplating a Queen reappearance. If anything, they were reluctant to commit to the time and energy required by a tour. They are very fond and proud of their catalogue of iconic songs, but their plan for perpetuating them seems to have been to assemble and promote Queen Extravaganza and the US production of We Will Rock You.
Their previous collaboration with Paul Rodgers fed their musician's need to perform that great music for an appreciative audience. I don't think it was totally satisfying, tho', because they were not able to perform the songs as they had originally been conceived as far as sound, key, notes and melodies were concerned, because they didn't have a singer capable of it. They also were not able to create a theatrical piece of work because they didn't have a theatrical performer fronting the band. There were certain iconic pieces of the Queen image, persona, and legacy that they could not portray in concert.
All those elements are possible with Adam as frontman. Vocally, there is nothing in the Queen catalog he cannot handle. There is probably nothing they can conceive of musically that he cannot do. Adam also has a keen sense of theatrical rock that is almost unheard of in today's popular singers. Roger and Brian don't have to coach him to bring out that type of performance. They don't have to hold his hand or lead him on. He brings that sense of camp naturally, as no lead singer has since they lost Freddie.

I think I missed a post somewhere and only saw a few followups BUT with regards as to who pursued who and/or future endeavors?
Queen was definitely NOT on the hunt. They are unlike some bands in that they don't need the reunion tour for the money and they certainly have enough projects to keep them busy.
I think they get the urge to every once in awhile get the big engine moving again, but only if something kind of falls into place. It fell into place with Paul at the UK Music Hall Of Fame and now with Adam. At the same time I'm sure their new record company would be VERY supportive of a tour getting their product back in the spotlight, just like I bet any management of Adam would see this as an awesome exposure move but it certainly is NOT the deciding factor. In fact, with no offense intended, Adam gets more out of the collaboration career-wise than Queen does at this point.
As far as future endeavors and albums - I think Adam *HAS* to say he's focused on album #3 so he doesn't get lost in Queen. I think Brian and Roger HAVE no future plans beyond the tour but they are open to discuss anything at anytime...so if things were to work out, they would consider it. Adam has more on his plate trying to juggle his career at this point than they do so of course he's going to be more hesitant.
At the same time, the cynical side of me feels that if Adam #3 tanks, than there will be a Queen album. If it doesn't tank, than it's less likely.
