I don't think Queen and Adam will do an album together, but as Brian says, "who knows."
I only ever want two things for Adam: continued career success and personal happiness from his work and his relationships. Looks like this tour does both, so I say YAY!
But relevance doesn't equal sales, IMO. And, good grief, if Adam were "cynical," he would have gone Gene Simmon's suggested route! But he didn't, and "Trespassing" was the first # 1 album by an artist who was not secretive or coy about being gay but rather upfront, proud, and inspiring about it. That is relevant to me, at least. You know, an RCA cover album could've/might've sold more than the future A3, too - hell, maybe a "holiday" album would/could have! But Adam didn't "jump at" any of that.
I'm no voice or music expert. I know Adam and Queen are uber-talented. But I stan Adam, in part (because, really, who here completely understands being here?) because I am moved by how beautifully I think Adam handles all sorts of "things" - prejudice, success, fans, "haters," etc. etc. So, yes, "cynical" and "jump at" bother me a bit because I don't think it is fair/true.
They are all artists, all businessmen, all good people wanting to kick ass together.
Thanks for responding to me, Talon, and I hope you will get that Queen album with never before heard Freddie tracks. That would be amazing.

I think I missed a post somewhere and only saw a few followups BUT with regards as to who pursued who and/or future endeavors? Queen was definitely NOT on the hunt. They are unlike some bands in that they don't need the reunion tour for the money and they certainly have enough projects to keep them busy. I think they get the urge to every once in awhile get the big engine moving again, but only if something kind of falls into place. It fell into place with Paul at the UK Music Hall Of Fame and now with Adam. At the same time I'm sure their new record company would be VERY supportive of a tour getting their product back in the spotlight, just like I bet any management of Adam would see this as an awesome exposure move but it certainly is NOT the deciding factor. In fact, with no offense intended, Adam gets more out of the collaboration career-wise than Queen does at this point. As far as future endeavors and albums - I think Adam *HAS* to say he's focused on album #3 so he doesn't get lost in Queen. I think Brian and Roger HAVE no future plans beyond the tour but they are open to discuss anything at anytime...so if things were to work out, they would consider it. Adam has more on his plate trying to juggle his career at this point than they do so of course he's going to be more hesitant. At the same time, the cynical side of me feels that if Adam #3 tanks, than there will be a Queen album. If it doesn't tank, than it's less likely. Regardless, why can't they do both? (^^^ bolded parts mine) They can do the Queen one live where both really shine. It would be _________!!!!! (Provide your own adjective ) with a DVD ... heaven!

I bet Adam/Queen will be on the cover of RollingStones!! I mean...this historic tour will have to be documented!! Well...time to get some sleep. Don't forget to set your clocks forward an hour!! Nite. Maybe not. It will certainly get reviewed. Most of the covers or at least featured topics are already picked for 2014. Plus, RS covers are things they think will sell magazines. > The only one it fits in the first half is Summer Entertainment....and there are a lot of big tours this year. > If they do something new, and really break new ground -- which I doubt will happen. I think this will be great but in line with what they did in London. Freddie Mercury was on the cover of issue 1000 only with a lot of other people.... There were on the cover of the Spanish Rolling Stone Mag in 2005 as part of the run up to the Q+PR tour. They were on the cover of the Italian Rolling Stone Mag in June 2008.... **** Queen did not get a RS cover in the 70's when they were at their peak in the US, hard to see that happening now.

Well, they changed Gaga's cover at the last minute (when her single was tanking) so there are precedents!

I only ever want two things for Adam: continued career success and personal happiness from his work and his relationships. Looks like this tour does both, so I say YAY! Agreed Agreed to a point. Yes so far he has staved off any cynical grab. He didn't go Gene's route, he didn't do the RCA cover album, or holiday album etc. Yet. I'm not trying to attack his character at all mind you. I think he has the right idea in mind and I applaud his decisions thus far! However what happens if the unfortunate happens and A3 fails? He might be able to hold out again and go for A4, but in order to get A4 distributed he might need a quick grab at headlines. Unfortunately music is a business! REALLY unfortunately. Like I said, so far so good...and hopefully he'll have success with A3 and it won't matter Indeed it would :D Regardless, why can't they do both? (^^^ bolded parts mine) They can do the Queen one live where both really shine. It would be _________!!!!! (Provide your own adjective ) with a DVD ... heaven! They could do both...and as far as a live album/DVD - I don't count that as an album when I'm talking about a QAL album. A LIVE DVD/Album I would take as far more possible. AND they could still do both A3 and a studio QAL album as well. But if there is a QAL studio album it's a few years away from even starting. A track? That's something else...

Rolling Stone may have issues mapped out for the year (some extremely generic). Plans can change. Who would have predicted Adam's cover?

Most people have heard the word "rhetoric" but sometimes it's fun to stop and think about what it actually is. Rhetoric is just the art of constructing an argument, and rhetorical devices are just the different techniques used to make your argument stick. We usually think of rhetoric in terms of politics but really it is used all the time -- even right here on little old Adamtopia.
Of course, not all arguments are created equal. When you have a weak argument, but you still want to defend it -- that is, you don't want to concede that you lost the argument -- there are certain rhetorical devices you can fall back on.
One of these devices is called moving the goalposts. An example might be an argument about whether a given person would be a good frontman for the rock band Queen. You might start with the position that a given person -- say, Adam Lambert -- should be a brilliant interpreter of the music of Queen. Until he proves that, he is not a suitable frontman.
So now suppose Adam Lambert performs with Queen many times and proves he is indeed a brilliant interpreter of the music. Then you might move the goalposts and say that just being a brilliant interpreter is not enough. Now, in order to be a suitable frontman for Queen, a given person has to be able to work as a creative collaborator with Brian and Roger, challenging them to do new work and acting as more or less an equal to them. I believe such an argument was advanced here several weeks ago.
So now suppose such a possibility was advanced in an press conference, however casually. Suppose it was suggested that Adam Lambert might indeed work creatively with Queen at some point. This might seem awkward, but not if you move the goalposts. Now, you might argue, that would be all very well, but all it would really prove was that the collaborator was, well ... a bit of a loser. Someone who could stand toe-to-toe with Brian and Roger, perhaps, but until achieving a rip-roaring commercial hit on his own, lacking nonetheless.
Rhetorical devices are really pretty interesting to think about. Sometimes they really make you wonder about arguments and the people who make them.

At the same time, the cynical side of me feels that if Adam #3 tanks, than there will be a Queen album. If it doesn't tank, than it's less likely. This conversation started yesterday. Talon, I agree with you. There are many interested parties who would be interested in this tour -- I think Brian and Roger are somewhat low on the list. Live Nation and Madison Square Garden Company - North America has a lot of underutilized arenas and this tour is likely to fill a lot of venues and make money. Universal Music Group who is Queen's label -- "Switzerland, December 2, 2013 -- Queen and Universal Music Group have renewed their partnership with a new, long term deal that will herald a range of exciting projects from the band including a raft of rare and unreleased material and a film. ... The new Universal deal, which covers the world outside North America, comes three years after Queen first signed with Universal Music. That move saw the band release music through Island Records for the first time in its history and signalled the start of a major re-mastering and repackaging programme, providing live tracks, alternative takes and other additional content for Queen’s 15 studio albums." Adam's Team - This is a perfect promotional platform for Adam. There is almost nothing that he could do that would generate this much positive press about music, and provide him a chance to expand his fanbase. Brian and Roger - I think they like the idea of performing but the do not need the money but they seem to love to preform -- even now. A small part of this may be that they never "conquered" America. It is the world's biggest market, and while almost everyone here knows the big rock anthems, without "Wayne's World" version of BoRhap, most people under 50 probably had low awareness of them. They still do not have a Grammy award and they have not gotten a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. *** I believe them that this was organic -- so similar to what happened with Paul. I also believe them that this is creatively exciting because I saw it. I was at the London and the Vegas shows. The London shows were great but there was nothing about them that said this show must be in an arena show now. I was at the Vegas iHR show. It was different. There was something happening on stage between Adam, Brian, Roger, and the rest of the band that was electric. Most particularly, it was as if Adam had grown taller and bigger and he just filled the arena. The part about Vegas that was most exciting to me as a Queen/Adam fan was that it was Queen's music, it was true to the music, but it felt authentic and real and included improvisations -- it was not like the stage play versions of Queen's music or a very competent vocalist copying Freddie note-for-note. *** If the tour is both a commercial and creative success, I bet they put out a live album and maybe a DVD. I think this is unrelated to A3 and could even be released for Holiday 2014 all gifted up. It would be relatively inexpensive to produce, not require a ton of work from Brian, Roger and Adam, and will sell. That would keep it a "side-by-side" product for Adam. *** Unless A3 is a total POS (piece of shit) which it will not be, it will sell a couple hundred thousand units worldwide on pre-sale. I think there is very little chance that Adam would focus on Queen. Back in 2009 he stated one of his goals was longevity. He seems to have maintained that commitment for 5 years. If A3 is a commercial failure (which I do NOT expect), we are much more likely to see Adam shift to do more TV, do a residency in Las Vegas, or finally headline a Broadway show.
