In looking at other major tours, I could not find any tour that did not have these bundles. I am not sure the promoters will fund an expensive tour like this without these lucrative upgrades which add $200+ to each ticket sale for best tickets.
And they did not attach the VIP Fan Packages to every good ticket, the back half of the floor or more in every venue I checked did not require the purchase of a VIP ticket. And many 100 level seats were sold without it. The first 5 rows, some or all of the front half of the floor and the lower part of the 100 level was bundled with the VIP Fan Packages by Live Nation’s VIP Nation. So, yes, the best tickets in most venues were bundled but it was not all the good or close seats.

The great thing about this practice, that most fans don't think about, is that a scalper is less likely to pay $495 for a ticket they want to resell. So, the people up close, will actually be fans willing to pay this. I think it is an excellent practice, not a bad one. If those seats, were all only $172, there'd be no fans with tickets up there. None!!
When Prince did his last big tour he sold his VIP tickets for $1,000 and up. At first people were like, "WTF?!" But then he explained, those seats would end up in brokers hands if they were priced differently and fans would end up paying 2K plus for them. So this way, a big fan, who would probably go broker anyway, gets to pay less. It also allowed him to price the other seats lower.
Also, the best part is that the artist ends up with the extra $$$$$ and not the scalpers!
Here is an example of how other artists price their VIP tickets!
