What on earth happened to Michelle Collins? Its like she completely disappeared. I know she walked away from VH-1's "Best Week Ever" in 2012 to work on the Kathy Griffin show. But, after that show folded last year, she went "poof!". She was funny as hell and a really stalwart Adam supporter. Miss her. I wonder too, her interviews with Adam were the BEST EVER!!! I would love for her to interview him again. She now writes for Vanity Fair Hollywood section online... www.vanityfair.com/online/oscars/2013/02/oscars-tv-recap-michelle-collins

Last I heard Michelle was hooked up with Vanity Fair... but not sure she's still doing that. I followed her hilarious columns during the Sochi Olympics. www.vanityfair.com/contributors/michelle-collinssnap you just beat me to it... LOL

I was wondering why MSG is held in such high esteem. It seems to be "the" place to be thrilled about a sold out audience. When did all that start? Is it because it's New York City? I just don't know the history about that venue. Anybody? Did the history nerd bat signal just flash in the skies above Gotham? Madison Square Garden is the ultimate place to play a concert in the US because of its acoustics, history, and the quality/enthusiasm of its audiences. This is the fourth Madison Square Garden. The first Madison Square Garden was built in the 1850s by the legendary empresario PT Barnum for his circuses. It became the city's premiere venue for popular concerts and sporting events. The second Madison Square Garden was built in the 1890s by Stanford White, one of the greatest of American architects. The garden was a huge success as a sporting and concert venue and was extremely beautiful. White was shot to death in the rooftop garden of his own creation in 1906 by a romantic rival. The sensational trial was the basis of the novel, film, and musical Ragtime. This garden was torn down in 1925. The third Madison Square Garden was not as architecturally significant but was equally a success, the destination for sporting and musical events that were broadcast all over the country for decades. Most notable was its hosting of countless boxing championships at a time when boxing was one of the most popular sports in the nation, comparable to basketball today. It was torn down in 1968. The fourth and current Madison Square opened the same year. It was built on the ruins of the famed Penn Station. Once considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, Penn Station had been demolished in 1962 because its owner did not want the expense of maintaining it. This tragedy sparked the historic preservation movement that spread all over the country. Madison Square Garden has hosted countless sporting events and concerts, including the Concert for Bangladesh in 1971, Elvis's famed sold-out four nights (the only time he played NYC), Michael Jackson, and many others, as well as many political conventions. Twice renovated, it remains the venue where a popular entertainer can say he or she has truly "made it."

I'm glad you enjoyed the videos, rpeura! I was there, too! And good that adamrocks brought the gifs, too. Adam sang so well that night, I had forgotten that part because it's been a long time since I listened to those videos. Also, we got all the songs! Yes, great memories of a fantastic concert! And I will never forget the wonderful pre-party in the "NAMU"-restaurant and the DTM-club one day before the concert and the awesome after-show party in the "Tiger"-club! (... and the hangover a few hours later!! )

Well, for one thing - I remember Adam in an interview a radio DJ backstage at MSG during what I think was a "Jingle Ball"-type of event in 2009. It may have been after the AMA thing, because Adam was not invited to perform, but he did announce a few acts. Kris Allen was one of the performers at this event. And I remember Adam watching Kris on a TV monitor backstage. And while Adam was gracious and happy for Kris, you could sense a certain wistfulness and longing that he wanted to be out there performing too. I guess there must be something for entertainers that if you get to perform at MSG, then you've truly "arrived".
So, now here's Adam soon to perform to a sold-out audience at MSG. This must be a dream come true for him - and I'm so very happy for him.
Adam was at the Z100 Jingle Ball December 11, 2009. He was a "special guest" and did not perform. This was arranged before the AMA performance. He got a prime slot on the schedule. He introduced Taylor Swift, who closed the show. ***MSG is important for a few reasons --- here are three: 1. It is in NYC -- the media capital of the US (and maybe the world.) 2. MSG was established in 1879 -- although moved 3 times. And will most likely be moved again. The current arena's lease is up soon and it is really old. It opened in 1968. 3. It was the #1 concert venue in the US based on concert gross. In 2013 it dropped to #2 behind Brooklyn's Barkley Center. O2 is the #1 in the would. Barkley Center is #2. "Barclays Center not only beat the Garden, but its ticket haul has made it the No. 2 highest-grossing venue in the world, behind only London’s O2 Arena, which grossed $119 million." link
But the biggest one is selling out MSG used to be the standard for a big hit concert. It is Manhattan's big arena. So it is equivalent to a Broadway show vs. a show in Cleveland, OH. It does not mean as much now because concert pre-sale account for most of the tickets. ETA: Oh no! I hope I am not "The History Nerd!!" New thread is up and it contains the "History of the Remix". And I just posted this answer. Thankfully I did not list all four MSG locations or explain about the electric lights!
