All the discussion here about the multitude of genres Queen worked in - and the fact that Adam can work in a wide range of genres - prompts me to add that for much of America Queen represents one thing: big stadium anthems played before, during and after big sporting events.
When I look at the twitter accounts of most of the people who make comments like: "Adam Lambert with Queen: No Way!" or "Lambert with Queen, what next? Clay Aiken with Guns and Roses?", the profiles most often have a few things in common: big sports fans (particularly football) and fans of cheesy comedy (Seth McFarland, etc). I look at who they follow, and if it's anyone in music, it tends to be rap or country, but frequently they don't appear so much interested in music as in the sports.
So I think many of the Queen + Adam naysayers come off as macho-pretending sports lovers with no special interest in music, and no real knowledge of the variety and complexity of the Queen catalog, but with the assumption that only a straight guy like the mythical "Freddy" should be fronting Queen and singing their hard-hitting, manly anthems.

Talon...I have the Queen vinyl LP's for The Game, News Of The World, Queen II. I, also, picked up two others...Queen Live Killers and Queen High Voltage (a two record album). I believe these last two were recorded from concerts they performed at and then put into albums? Live Killers is a live album of sorts documenting the 1979 Live Killers tour. It isn't one specific gig....it's a complication of gigs...and what's more the songs aren't from specific gigs either! They cut up songs so that a single song could have been patched together from several gigs! queenlive.ca did a great bit of research to show which gig each potion of the song is from. High Voltage is actually a bootleg. Not a real recording. The first part is from the Rainbow Theater in March of 1974 and the 2nd part is from Hammersmith in 1975 Thanks Talon for the information. LOL! I didn't know I had a bootleg! I got it at an old vinyl record shop here.

I have a question about the QAL tour. How will Brian, Roger and Adam get from venue to venue? Fly? Private jet? How does the equipment get there? Semi's? Do they leave enough time between dates to allow that to happen?

Just a thought -- there are great seats available for the 5 new concerts. You might look at them. My plane leaves back to Finland 18.7! If I had known that there will be more concerts, I had made my schedule completely different! Oh I see! Makes sense. ** Queen album -- My favorite is Queen II -- pleased to see it on Talon's lists as... While the Queen Greatest Hits are packed with great songs, I prefer many of the non-hits. And you can expect to see White Queen on my QAL dream setlist. Of the later albums - Innuedo is my pick. The interesting thing about Queen is that they were so influential and yet got so little respect -- particularly in the US and even more particularly by rock snobs at Rolling Stone. >> I think that the fact that Rolling Stone appears to love Adam (4 stars for Trespassing is the max a pop album can get their and he did that) and they had a reporter at iHeart = they will give QAL its due. And just maybe they are done kicking Queen. Taking Rolling Stone's reviews to illustrate.... Queen got two good reviews from Rolling Stone... The 1973 review of Queen (their debut album) www.rollingstone.com/music/albumreviews/queen-19731206The only other good review of anything Queen is the 4 of 5 stars they gave to the 1992 Absolute Queen album "Mercifully, the 2009 collection Absolute Greatest fits most of their mega hits onto one disc (though still missing “Fat Bottomed Girls” and “Bicycle Race”)." Read more: www.rollingstone.com/music/artists/queen#ixzz2x0P3BIrb Follow us: @rollingstone on Twitter | RollingStone on Facebook Here are the reviews for my two favorite Queen albums :( The Rolling Stone review of Innuendo (1991, album) was about as begrudging as I have ever read -- but at least RS's reviewer had to give them some credit mattering..... This is one of the best reviews that Rolling Stone gave to Queen. Not surprisingly their best review was for Opera -- 3-1/2 stars. My "favorite" Rolling Stone review miss is this one... On Queen II the Black side was Freddie's side. The White side was mostly Brian's. *** I hope this time, Queen comes to North America, that Brian, Rodger, Adam, Spike ("fifth member of Queen" who has been there so long he is almost a band member -- since 1984) and co. prove how great this music is. And I hope that Adam gets the credit he is due -- as one of the most talented and versatile vocalist performing today. And the last vocal superstar who had the same ability to move freely between genres was probably Freddie Mercury.

Do they leave enough time between dates to allow that to happen? My guess is private jet for the principal's like Adam, Brian, Roger, Rufus, Neil, and Spike. Semis for the equipment. Buses for the crew. If you notice, wherever there is a long distance between shows, like Vancouver and San Jose, there are several days open. I imagine that is for travel time! I am just guessing though.
