85 days to go…to QAL!!
3.25.14 by Q3
There are 85 days until Chicago…and they question I have been thinking about is what will Adam sing on this tour?
Assuming they change out a few songs during the tour, and do 22 – 24 unique songs a night (excluding the guitar and drum solos), there could be around 30 songs performed in these concerts. And hopefully, I get a lot of them in my countdown. But that won’t be easy -- the Queen catalog is so big, the potential cover list is almost a universe, and there is a chance that they could also decide to perform an Adam song.
#85 “There Must Be More to Life Than This”, “State of Shock” and “Victory” (1983)
Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury duets (originally planned for Thriller, now up for a 2014 release)
This may be the oddest entry in the countdown so far. These are only sort of Queen songs, but since Brian and Roger are working on them and they are part of the unreleased materials that they are planning to release, I am including them as Queen tracks. But if you wish, classify them as covers.
Brian and Roger are going to release new-old music, doesn’t it make sense for them to perform new-old music? Perhaps Adam and Roger and do the duet. Or this can be Adam and two video icons plus the band performing one of these songs. Or maybe Adam can sign both the Freddie and Michael parts.
No matter how I look at it, there is something at work with these songs, and Queen, and Adam and this moment in time. I think the universe has plans and is aligning things. And part of those plans include Brian, Roger and Adam, and these unreleased recordings by Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson.
For starters, is there another singer who can cover both artists so definitively? Or is there someone else who over 5 years ago auditioned for Idol singing two songs – one by Michael Jackson and one by Freddie Mercury?
I could go on....well I do go one in a bit.
*****
Two of these three songs have actually been released: “There Must Be More to Life Than This” by Freddie Mercury and “State of Shock” by Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger and The Jacksons. “Victory” has never been released.
Alternate reality: These three songs were originally planned as tracks on Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”. Of the nine tracks on Thriller, seven singles were released, all of which reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Three of the singles had music videos released. "Baby Be Mine" and "The Lady in My Life" were the only tracks that were not released as singles. In just over a year, Thriller became—and currently remains—the best-selling album of all time, with sales by various sources as being 51 to 65 million copies worldwide. In the United States, it also tied with the Eagles' Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) as the best-selling album at 29 millions shipped. The album won a record-breaking eight Grammy Awards in 1984, including for Album of the Year. I wonder what would have happened if these tracks were finished and included on this album. At the least, Freddie would have earned a lot of royalties.
Brian May has said that more previously unreleased Freddie Mercury material has been found.
Queen drummer Roger Taylor recently confirmed that Brian May is finishing work on a number of tracks Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson duetted on, but now, May has said that even more Mercury material has been discovered. Speaking to Mojo magazine, via The Guardian, May commented: "There's more in there than we thought, in the Queen source archive. I'm a little nervous of saying there's an album there, but there's certainly a few tracks... We've found some Freddie vocals, some demos."
Earlier this year it was reported that around three tracks Mercury and Jackson recorded in 1983 will be made available to fans. Speaking in July, May said there would be "something for folks to hear" in two months' time.
However, though the songs have not yet emerged, Taylor went on to tell Classic Rock Magazine that the songs are being worked on at the moment, primarily by May. "Brian especially has been active working on old tracks. A couple of tracks that Freddie did with Michael Jackson," he said. Adding: "They've been hanging around for years and years and Michael's estate haven't really been able to make their mind up about what to do with them. So we suggested we finish them and see. They're pretty good – one of them is great."

THE KING AND THE QUEEN: 1983 RECORDINGS OF MICHAEL JACKSON AND FREDDIE MERCURY TO BE RELEASED
Posted by Vespa on October 25, 2013
Three duets by Michael Jackson and Queen singer Freddie Mercury will be released, 30 years after they had originally been recorded as revealed in a recent interview with Queens Roger Taylor.
The two singers recorded three tracks at Jackson’s home studio in Encino, California, in 1983, but an eventual plan to release them failed as the pair were unable to arrange a second session after both stars too busy for a second studio session (a-hoo! it wasn’t).
“They were great songs, but the problem was time – as we were both very busy at that period,” Mercury said in an excerpt from Mercury: An Intimate Biography of Freddie Mercury.
In an interview with Classic Rock, Queen’s Roger Taylor has revealed that the band had been working on furthering the material recorded with Michael Jackson although needed to liaise with the Jackson family over it’s eventual release.
“Brian especially has been active working on old tracks. A couple of tracks that Freddie did with Michael Jackson… They’ve been hanging around for years and years and Michael’s estate haven’t really been able to make their mind up about what to do with them. So we suggested we finish them and see. They’re pretty good – one of them is great.”
The idea of a single Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson duet is mind blowing, let alone three entire tracks that we could be listening to in as little as two months.
Have a listen to a clip of the interview below while you curl your toes in anticipation!

30 years ago: the Jackson-Mercury duets
Freddie talks about Michael and the duets…
“There Must Be More to Life Than This” (1981-1985)
Released: Track # on Mr. Bad Guy Freddie Mercury’s first solo album. April 29, 1985.
Begun in 1981 as part of the Hot Space sessions, this track is an anti-war and anti-racism song and was also to be recorded with Michael Jackson. A demo version of Jackson singing and Mercury playing the piano exists. The 2012 documentary The Great Pretender features also a snippet of a duet version, where both Jackson and Mercury share the lead vocals.

"There Must Be More To Life Than This"
Written by Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury
There must be more to life than this
There must be more to life
than this
How do we cope in a world without love
Mending all those broken hearts
And tending to those crying faces
There must be more to life than killing
A better way for us to survive
Why should it be just a case of black or white
There must be more to life than this
Why is this world so full of hate
People dying everywhere
And we destroy what we create
People fighting for their human rights
But we just go on saying c'est la vie
So this is life
There must be more to life than living
There must be more than meets the eye
What good is life, if in the end we all must die
There must be more to life than this
There must be more to life than killing
There must be more to life than this
I live in hope for a world filled with love
Then we can all just live in peace
There must be more to life, much more to life
There must be more to life, more to life than this

“State of Shock” (1984)
Written by Michael Jackson and Randy Hansen
Recorded by The Jackson with Michael Jackson and Mick Jagger on lead vocals
Released June 5, 1984
"State of Shock" was the biggest hit from The Jacksons' Victory album, reaching number 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 14 on the UK Singles Chart. The song was originally recorded with Freddie Mercury, as Jackson and Mercury had been working on several tracks at that time (1981–83), e.g. the unreleased title track "Victory" for the eponymous album and "There Must Be More to Life Than This" from Mr. Bad Guy. The final version featured lead vocals by Michael Jackson and Mick Jagger. In his book Michael Jackson: unauthorized, author Christopher P. Andersen described the song and commented on Mick Jagger, saying, "The lead singer of the Rolling Stones eyed the phenomenal success of Thriller with envy. As an artist he respected Jackson's work", adding that Arthur Collins, then president of Rolling Stones Records said, "Mick became obsessed with Michael Jackson" and explained it saying, "He wanted to know every detail about Jackson's life, his contract with Columbia, how the Thriller singles were selling,...". "State of Shock" was the last top ten hit for The Jacksons, as well as their last single to be certified gold. The song was later revised by Jagger when he performed it with Tina Turner during their 1985 performance at Live Aid.

All of them appear in this video, sometimes in the same frame and all of their voices are in here too. Plus added material for Freddie to fill up gaps.

In May 2012 as part of the promotion for his upcoming album release, Adam did a series of Q&A videos with Billboard. In Part 3 Adam was asked a fan question, which dead pop star would he most like to meet?, and he quickly replied “Probably Freddie or Michael Jackson”, then continued to speak about what these two singer and performers meant to him. When Trespassing was released, Newsday review said, “For much of Trespassing, Lambert draws inspiration from Michael Jackson and Queen’s Freddie Mercury that encourages him to sound bigger and bolder than ever. Subtlety be damned.”
There are many other times when Adam connected his music to two people who influenced him: Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury. But let me close with a bit of Adam covering Michael Jackson with full Adamization.

As long as you are willing to sell your ticket to a member for what you paid for it, you can post any "for sale" tickets in the Members Only section in the concert thread for the event.
A couple suggestions:
1. If you have a Ticketmaster ticket, you can transfer it on Ticketmaster for most concerts (not Auburn Hills, MI)
2. If you purchased a VIP Fan Package, the merchandise will be shipped to the purchaser’s address. If you wish to give this to the buyer with the ticket, remember you will need to mail it.
