One stadium on his tour, Hershey Park Stadium. All the rest are arenas and amphitheatre's, much like the Queen tour. As a matter of fact, some of the same venues. Other summer tours are : Eminem and Rihanna and they are doing stadiums! Crazy, to me! Gaga Katy Keith Urban U2 Eagles Cher Miley Basically, lots! Eminem does not tour as much as some of these other folks, I mean hasn't everyone who wanted to see Gaga, Katy and Cher had their chance over and over again, so I can see his fans filling the stadiums. I may be the last Bruno Mars holdout in America, his songs give me rolling eyes syndrome. Thinking about buying a Q + AL ticket to the AC concert because I can get a better seat than the one I have in Philly but not sure about staying overnight in AC in July. I need to hit the lottery right now. Bentley1530, Look in the members thread - I think someone was offering up a share or the couch in their AC hotel?

But he wasn't *thinking* about Pop at 19. He was still happily doing stage work. It wasn't until later that he started to feel jaded. Just throwing out unvalidated guess, but I still think a lot of it was inertia and the fear that he didn't have a safety net elsewhere. Adam values friends and family (even in some interview he said he went to LA originally with a friend). I can see him being worried about going someplace completely new all by himself. By the time he was more seriously thinking about New York he was older (and I have no idea where I read this, but I'm pretty sure I read a New York answer like that in some interview a while back). But that is exactly my point...there was no 'age' immediate pressure to go to New York as long as Theatre is/was the ultimate goal...there is time to get there. It is only pop music that carries the pressure. People were questioning why he did not feel more pressure to go to New York but it is really expensive there and combine that with the fact there were still opportunities in LA along with friends and family...minus the pressure of time....he could afford to stay in Weho for a little longer. He was still only 26 when he was in Wicked....a baby in theatre years. If there were as much pressure in theatre to hit it while you are young, I suspect Adam would have headed there at 19....that is all I was adding to the discussion. i think you are both right! And really saying the same thing but wrapped in different bread! eta: Hoppers I read your Pop at 19 as prop 19 and as an old Californian i couldn't figure out what pot had to do with this!!!

About who else is touring this summer - Bruno Mars and he's filling stadiums too. RS covers are hard to predict. I would not have guessed they would put KISS on the cover now. And it the Pope tour the US this summer, then I expect Pope Frank will get the cover. And the #1 cover is the Boston Bomber cover. When I go thru the list -- I come up with Katy. U2 has the biggest tour ever -- but their covers (14!!) have not sold so well. Katy is a big seller, she has a new summer tour, hasn't been on the cover since 2011. Her two covers sold well (of course she was only partially dressed). The Summer Entertainment Issue could have something else on the cover. BUT assuming that they put on someone who is actually touring -- I expect it to be an artist who is touring the US.Of the people touring.... Not likely Cher - underway, and not the target audience RS wants Lorde - she already got a cover this year Jan 2014, hot tour but small venues and underway. Miley - she was the Sept 2013 cover , hot tour, already underway Arcade Fire - underway, but possible. I think no because the centerpoint of this tour is in May. Kings of Leon - started already, no real news here. Boy bands - OD, Wanted, etc. Wrong market. OD are still hot but Wanted just cancelled there European tour due to low interest. OD kicks off in August in the US so may be too late in the summer for the May issue. One Republic - yawn..... JT, Eagles - timing is wrong, yawn.... Billy Joel -- timing is wrong. Wrong target audience. Possible - big tours, right demos and no recent RS cover.Lady Gaga - Tour starts May 4, right timing. It is hot, the ticket prices are high. ArtPop was not so good. RS review was 3/5 stars and they were not kind. Her covers are big sellers. Katy - Big tour, hasn't had a cover since 2011, RS like to put semi-naked women on the cover. So this is one possibility. Bruno Mars - hot tour, right timing May be to close to his 1st and only Cover - May 2013. Only made my list because it is a big tour. U2 hits the US in May. Timing is perfect. It is the biggest tour in history. They have the most massive set ever. It is the only real stadium world tour in the world. 14 RS covers, they love U2 at RS. But none of these covers are top sellers. RS biggest selling covers are controversial -- and the Rolling Stone 'Boston Bomber' cover sold twice the number of issues they usually sell. Their biggest selling modern era cover. So it might not be an entertainment cover. James Taylor - big tour, big sales, big venues. RS loves a successful old guy. LongshotsMotley Crue - The final tour. I would have put them on the no way list, but look at the current cover, KISS? And Crue were on the Aug 1987 RS cover. Queen + Adam Lambert - RS has not treated Queen so well. But KISS is on this week's cover. And the tour preview articles have been enthusiastic. Maybe RS has decided that Queen is not here to destroy rock music?

U2 isn't touring this summer. Their album isn't done and while it might still come out before end of the year tour will definitely not be until next year. Also their next tour is not going to be anything massive like 360 at least not right off. The boys are talking about going back to indoor venues this time around. Will probably be more like their Elevation tour from the early 2000's or Vertigo which was mostly indoors in the US but stadiums elsewhere in the world.

Kittykay, thank you for posting the Ultimate Interview! Nothing like hearing the reasons straight from Adam, himself!

Fleetwood Mac just announced a tour with Christine McVie. Another legacy act Should I know who Christine McVie is? Sorry - Fleetwood Mac was before my time and I was never enamoured by them. John McVie's father used to have a carpet shop in South London and he carpeted my first marital home!... (i know....I know.....I just never have any news to contribute.....)
