Rolling Stone: "Queen Hit the Arenas With an Idol on Vocals"
This article is in the print edition. If you are want to pick up a single copy of this magazine online, you want the current issue with KISS on the cover. (Isn’t it a strange coincidence that Adam performed on the Idol Finale with KISS and Queen, and now 5 years later he is going on tour as the frontman of Queen, the tour is featured in Rolling Stone and KISS is on the cover. Go figure!)

Semi Precious Weapons work with Adam Lambert
Semi Precious Weapons have revealed that they have written music with Adam Lambert.
The vocal powerhouse is currently working on his upcoming third album, whilst the US group are due to release their latest effort 'Aviation' in April.
Speaking to the EQ Music Blog, Semi Precious Weapons said they have teamed up with a number of musicians to help write new material - one of which being Lambert.
They said: "We’ve been working with these girls from New York called The Rich White Ladies and we produced and wrote an EP with them, it’s pretty awesome. Adam [Lambert] came to the house and wrote with us a couple of times. He is working on his new album. I wrote with Jeffree Star for his album. We are writing a lot for other people."

OT Music News
Q3 comment: Every now and then, I come across some music news that is really significant and I want to share it. This is a perfect example of rethinking the music business but if you extend the idea, the concept is interesting. The music business use standardized pricing for standardized sales unit sizes for standardized product shapes and even standardizes the number of BPM (beats per minute) for certain genres. But why?
Why have the labels fund your able if you have a loyal, passionate fan base? Some independent artist are turning the tables and pre-selling and fan-funding their albums.
Why not have some “albums” that contain more tracks, or be limited editions, sell them at super-premium prices? Wu-Tang Clan has taken this idea to the extreme.
What do you think?
Wu-Tang Clan Selling One Copy of Secret Double LP
'The Wu - Once Upon a Time in Shaolin' will tour the world's museums, galleries and festivals

The music world is already squirming with anticipation over Wu-Tang Clan's upcoming LP, A Better Tomorrow, but it turns out the New York hip-hop legends have another – let's say, more relic-like – album in the works. In a new interview with Forbes, RZA says the group plans to sell one copy of a previously unannounced, 31-track double LP The Wu – Once Upon a Time in Shoalin.
"We're about to sell an album like nobody else sold it before," the rapper says. "We're about to put out a piece of art like nobody else has done in the history of [modern] music. We're making a single-sale collector's item. This is like somebody having the scepter of an Egyptian king."
But when one creates a piece of art comparable to an Egyptian king's scepter, it's only natural to show it off. Before the Holy Grail LP is sold to one especially loaded rap fan, the album will be toured across the world's museums, galleries and festivals, using headphones to protect the songs from piracy.
While tour dates for this unconventional album haven't been unveiled, the group has shared some intriguing details on the project's website. The double LP – co-produced over six years by RZA and Cilvaringz – will feature "special guest appearances" including Redman, FC Barcelona soccer players and "a unique tapestry of guest performers." It will be presented in a "hand-carved nickel-silver box designed by the British Moroccan artist Yahya."
"The music industry is in crisis. Creativity has become disposable and value has been stripped out," the band wrote. "Mass production and content saturation have devalued both our experience of music and our ability to establish its value. Industrial production and digital reproduction have failed. The intrinsic value of music has been reduced to zero. Contemporary art is worth millions by virtue of its exclusivity. This album is a piece of contemporary art.
"The album encapsulates the Clan’s legendary dark funk and avant garde sound and is produced in the original Wu Tang style of the 90s," the group continued. "This is the first high-profile album never to be commercially released to the public and the first of its kind in the history of music."

84 days to go…to QAL!!
3.27.14 by Q3
There are 84 days until Chicago…and they question I have been thinking about is what will Adam sing on this tour?
Assuming they change out a few songs during the tour, and do 22 – 24 unique songs a night (excluding the guitar and drum solos), there could be around 30 songs performed in these concerts. And hopefully, I get a lot of them in my countdown. But that won’t be easy -- the Queen catalog is so big, the potential cover list is almost a universe, and there is a chance that they could also decide to perform an Adam song.
#84 "Great King Rat" (1973)
Written by Freddie Mercury
This song is an example of Queen's earliest sound, with lengthy, heavy compositions with long guitar solos and sudden tempo changes. Despite it not being released as a single, it remains hugely popular among the Queen fans.
Freddie wrote and sung this song where he gives you loads of dirt on this total loser called Great King Rat. He tells us what ends up happening to people like Great King Rat, dead and alone. It's a classic moral story done in nice heavy-metal rock. Certain lyrics may rub people the wrong way, when they hear lines like: Don't believe all you read in the Bible, don't listen to what mama says, and put out the good and keep the bad. However, these lyrics are actually sung as a warning. It is meant that if you follow these suggestions, you too will end up like Great King Rat. All in all, a very good tune, and I love the ending with Roger's great drum riff.
One of the riffs in the instrumental solo section was later used in the more popular Stone Cold Crazy. There was to be a song after this one called "Mad the Swine" and the two were to link seamlessly into each other (hence the reason why the drum solo at the end has no ending), but the band and producer Roy Thomas Baker had a debate about the quality of the percussion of the song, and it was not included with the album until the 1991 US re-release.
This is one song that I really, really do not want to see Adam perform. Three reasons: the lyrics are sung at a rapid-fire pace so it is hard to sing, it is about a really bad guy, and (mostly) because I hate rats! Even Great King Rats!

There are a number of official recordings and demos of “Great King Rat”. Plus, Queen performed the song over 100 times in concert and there are many fan recordings and bootleg versions.
Great King Rat (Album Version) 5:43

Appears on: Queen (album), Track 3
Great King Rat (Preliminary Mix) 5:43
Written by Freddie Mercury
Appears on: Queen Hollywood Remaster (1991), Queen EMI Remaster (1994)
For any new release, the best available source is preferable. EMI did not know where the first generation stereo master tapes were stored, so the 1986 and 1988 CD releases of Queen CD's used production masters for their source. The production masters were stored at Abbey Road and easily obtainable. Production masters were tapes created for the cutting of the original vinyl records. The process, as Brian May explained in an issue of the Fan Club Magazine, is as follows; the stereo master tapes of each track were taped together and all recorded onto one long production master tape. That production master tape would be the easiest way to cut to vinyl. The quality, however, would be one generation removed from the stereo master of each individual track. These production masters were used for the very first Queen CD releases, which explains their "hissy" sound. In 1990, Queen retrieved their original stereo master tapes and found some had been lost or damaged over time. Some tracks from Queen I, Flash Gordon, and Live Killers had some damage. When it came time for Eddy Schreyer to remaster the album for Hollywood Records' 1991 release and for Kevin Metcalfe to remaster the album for the 1994 Digital Master Series, the best source was preferable. Great King Rat from the first generation stereo master-mix had a tape dropout three minutes into the song, which would have been very noticable. Since the first generation master-mix of Great King Rat was not available, the next best thing was used; a first generation source from a mix close to the final version. As a result, a preliminary mix of Great King Rat was used for Schreyer's Queen remaster. The performance is the same as the album version, but the mix is different. This preliminary mix is unbalanced; there are silences in the left channel on half of the guitar intro and in the right channel during the acoustic break in the middle. Also of note, later releases of Queen do have the real album version of Great King Rat from the "best available sources." The real album version that appears on the 2001 and 2011 remasters is from a safety copy, which is not ideal, but is cleaned up using current noise reduction technology.
Great King Rat (De Lane Lea Demo) 6:09
Written by Freddie Mercury
Appears on: UK/US 2011 Queen Deluxe CD
Recorded during studio downtime in December 1971, the De Lane Lea Demos are the first Queen studio recordings. The only known original source is Brian May's own 12" acetate. Like the other De Lane Lea Demos, this version is a bit less produced and more raw than the album take. The middle drum part (at around 2:40) is a bit different to the final version. Freddie's vocals are good, but not as impressive as the final version. The track ends with the drum roll.
Great King Rat (BBC Session 3) 5:56
Written by Freddie Mercury
Appears on: At The BBC, At The Beeb
Recorded December 3, 1973 at Langham 1 Studio in London, this recording of Great King Rat was done for Queen's third BBC session. The Session 3 version starts with great heavy guitar effects. The drum sound is very tight with no echo or reverb. The middle drum part is a bit more colorful in this version than any other. Again, the track ends with the typical drum roll.
Great King Rat (Take One) 3:48
Written by Freddie Mercury
Appears on: Unreleased
This track premiered at the 19th International Fan Club Convention in Prestatyn. Freddie Mercury counts-in, there are different lyrics, vocals, and 'vocalized' guitar. The track goes up to the bridge when Freddie counts-out.
Great King Rat (Early Demo) 3:40
Written by Freddie Mercury
Appears on: Unreleased
This track premiered at the 20th International Fan Club Convention in Prestatyn. Obviously from the Queen sessions, Trident Studios, 1973. Very different, with alternate guitar outtakes and vocal overdubs, cuts halfway through.
Queen - Great King Rat (Langham Studio Version)
BBC Langham Studio version of Great King Rat recorded at Langham One Studio in London on December 3rd 1973 and broadcast 3 days later on Radio 1.

Here's another concert request, and one of my personal favorite "early era" concerts! This is Queen's 4th show in the US, and the first recorded US bootleg of the band! This gig is complete, and in decent quality (though it's another one of those "rough-but-listenable" recordings)! The entire band are on fire this evening--trying to prove themselves to the American audience! Every song is played with enthusiasm, and Freddie sounds great (especially on Great King Rat and Modern Times Rock 'N' Roll)! I have a fondness for the early era shows (1973-1975) such as this one, because Queen sound very raw, aggressive, and very tight (even though the band is only a few years old)!

Great King Rat
Written by Freddie Mercury
Great King Rat died today
Born on the twenty first of May
Died syphilis forty four on his birthday
Every second word he swore
Yes he was the son of a whore
Always wanted by the law
Wouldn't you like to know ?
Wouldn't you like to know people ?
Great King Rat was a dirty old man
And a dirty old man was he
Now what did I tell you
Would you like to see ?
Now hear this
Where will I be tomorrow ?
Will I beg ?, Will I borrow ?
I don't care, I don't care anyway
Come on, come on the time is right
The man is evil and that is right
I told you ah yes I told you
And that's no lie, oh no no
Wouldn't you like to know ?
Wouldn't you like to know ?
Wouldn't you like to know ?
Great King Rat was a dirty old man
And a dirty old man was he
Now what did I tell you
Would you like to see ?
Show me
Oooh oooh oooh oooh
Wouldn't you like to know ?
Wouldn't you like to know people people ?
Great King Rat was a dirty old man
And a dirty old man was he
Now what did I tell you
Would you like to see ?
Hit it
Now listen all you people
Put out the good and keep the bad
Don't believe all you read in the Bible
You sinners get in line
Saints you leave far behind
Very soon you're gonna be his disciple
Don't listen to what mama says
Not a word - not a word mama says
Or else you'll find yourself being the rival
Sure, the great lord before he died
Knelt sinners by his side
And said you're going to realise tomorrow, oh woh oh woh oh woh
No I'm not going to tell you
What you already know
'Cause time and time again
The old man said it all a long time ago
Come on come on the time is right
This evil man will fight
I told you once before
Hear it
No
Wouldn't you like to know ?
Wouldn't you like to know ?
Just like I said before
Great King Rat was a dirty old man
And a dirty old man was he
The last time I tell you
Would you like to see ?

As long as you are willing to sell your ticket to a member for what you paid for it, you can post any "for sale" tickets in the Members Only section in the concert thread for the event.
A couple suggestions:
1. If you have a Ticketmaster ticket, you can transfer it on Ticketmaster for most concerts (not Auburn Hills, MI)
2. If you purchased a VIP Fan Package, the merchandise will be shipped to the purchaser’s address. If you wish to give this to the buyer with the ticket, remember you will need to mail it.
