Oh those crazy fingers of mine. They have a life of their own. I took one look at that HOLY HELL picture of Adam. I mean LOOK AT THAT PICTURE!!! Then my fingers took over. I had a very sensible and very nice ticket to Atlantic City. Then the seating chart changed and the thrust appeared. And now those fingers of mine clicked on one of those seats right at the thrust. And now I have a very sensible and quite good ticket available for sale sometime down the line when more of the same are no longer available. But now that HOLY HELL face will be right in mine and I go to sleep tonight with a smile on my face and yet another hole in my bank account.

There is no evidence that Adam lost Idol because the middle of the country voted for Kris. There is certainly no evidence that there is more homophobia in the middle of the country. One thing is sure, Bill O'Reilly, Fox TV and the like are more popular in California than in Iowa or Ohio (based on Nielsen ratings).
For the Top 3 Dial Idol had Adam winning most of the center of the country, and Kris winning California and NY.
The is also no evidence that Adam being gay had anything to do with him loosing Idol.
There is a lot of evidence that Adam is polarizing -- and he was very polarizing in 2009. People loved him or hated him -- and I think that vote was all about Adam. So Kris got votes from the people who liked Kris best and from people who really did not like Adam.
And many of the people who did not like Adam did not care about whether he was gay or not, they did not like him -- the emo look, the f'ing with a country song, etc.
Finally, people do not like to be told who is going to win Idol. Watch the Top 13 performance -- the judges were crowning Adam.

I noticed that Ticketmaster is offering a T-shirt that you can add to your ticket order...does anyone know the price?
also...I really like that comic book Adam. It's not a very good likeness but I find the total effect really cool.

Yes, I noticed that vacuum in Adam's storyline too, but such a vacuum is the reality of life for many gay folks.
How many people have you met, especially elderly generation, where you hear, 'oh he is the eternal bachelor', or where with a younger person, the question comes up 'are you seeing someone?' And the common answer 'no, don't really have time for that right now' has to present the cop-out? It especially becomes difficult, when the questions go further, i.e. tell me about past relationships or what type of woman (for a guy) do you like, etc....
The presumption of the straight world that their way is the only way, is so deep rooted and it makes communication with the maybe somewhat evasive gay person, seem empty, when actually nothing could be further from the truth. A very active social life might be present, but due to the person not wanting to debate their orientation in general (closeted) or in the specific situation of the moment, leads to the person just being perceived as withdrawn or unsocial instead.
The last 5 years have done a lot to open the flood-gates, but you only have to read the stupidity of comments on the net, to know that there is still a long way to go before being open does not mean either immediate drama, derailment of any conversation or even worse, outright discrimination and change of how the person is being perceived.
There is also the reverse storyline. For me, for example, given that I was not watching idol, but rather got introduced to Adam by Bill O'Reilly (yes, I know, long story), I never had a neutral introduction to Adam to tell you, whether I would have known right away or not. My first videos of Adam were the various Upright Cabaret videos, where Adam is clearly quite open, so that I actually wondered, whether BOR had any staff to research any questions before he put them on the air, because it was, based on those videos quite obvious that Adam was either gay or maybe bi. But then, that only cemented my low expectations about BOR, but did not lead to anything regarding Adam, because I was not following him til then.
By the time, I finally got to review all the Adam performances I had missed, I already knew quite a bit about him, and so that whole topic was never a question.
But, at the same time, my learning curve was understanding American culture and reality for gays in this country. First of all, I was quite naive when it came to understanding the career impact it had for gay people, to be 'out'. I.e. I thought that especially in the field of arts, or more specifically performance arts, that the train had left the station ages ago, that every second person was gay in Hollywood anyhow and that this was a non-issue. I was totally unaware that being gay and open, meant you could not get signed, could not be 'a rockstar' in label head's minds. I also did not realize what a limitation in role offerings it meant for an actor to be out.
Totally underestimated the significance and bravery it took to take that step to be out. Thought that it was just a difficult situation for those in the more conservative work environments that surrounded me at the time (i.e. NC and TN for me), but I underestimated the situation elsewhere, especially in the arts.
I also had to learn how America generally reacted to someone like Adam. Completely did not understand that from a cultural standpoint and had to learn a lot about it. It certainly made me much more aware, as well as assertive when it came to standing up for gay rights or even more importantly, just for gay needs in general.
Adam really surprised me, because I generally thought of myself certainly as supportive for the cause, and Adam was in no way my first encounter with LGBT, not at all. But all previous encounters had been in my own little world of work and home and were colored by the specific characters that made up that environment.
Adam was my encounter with the reaction of mainstream America, with the civil causes overall, and then, with the situation in music and theater and film. Adam made me think, in many ways, and I was astonished at the impact he was having on me (in more ways than one).

Boardwalk Hall - Atlantic City is a great venue. If you are thinking about adding a concert this could be a good choice. Nice acoustics. Beautifully renovated and it is on the small side of the venues in this tour -- only around 14,000 seats.

Watch the Top 13 performance -- the judges were crowning Adam. I hate rehashing the "voting" subject but I have to say from my anecdotal voting experience from NYC - there was no way to get thru to Adam's phone number, it was busy for the full FOUR hours. I had an involuntary (i.e I recruited kids/friends/relatives) "voting party" with many phone lines for dialing and texting, I knew exactly how many seconds it takes to redial...we could've contributed good several thousand dialed votes, except no-one, not on one line could get thru the busy signal. I tried Kris' number exactly three times and I got thru every time. FOUR HOURS OF BUSY SIGNALS!!!! They did not bother to adjust throughput capacity on Adam's lines, at least not at the exchanges servicing my area. I will never believe it was kosher. (OMG...it was fun! I didn't let the voting slaves go to the bathroom even! :D)
