WTH? Please stay safe Californians! Los Angeles Times @latimes 3h Another earthquake shakes L.A.; 4.4 near Rowland Heights
Thats my hometown... probably the first time its made the news. Word back home is that its not as bad as it could have been. We've had worse. One theory is that these smaller quakes release energy - thats the one im going with anyway.

Oh those crazy fingers of mine. They have a life of their own. I took one look at that HOLY HELL picture of Adam. I mean LOOK AT THAT PICTURE!!! Then my fingers took over. I had a very sensible and very nice ticket to Atlantic City. Then the seating chart changed and the thrust appeared. And now those fingers of mine clicked on one of those seats right at the thrust. And now I have a very sensible and quite good ticket available for sale sometime down the line when more of the same are no longer available. But now that HOLY HELL face will be right in mine and I go to sleep tonight with a smile on my face and yet another hole in my bank account. good for you! Like I said, that AC map looks too tempting... also, I just found this e-mail from TicketMaster: Unique Queen + Adam Lambert VIP Experiences Available! I really want the additional dates to get close to sell out! It's all your fault. I was staring at those tempting seats for several days and then your comment and then THAT PICTURE!! And then I had to see that face as up close as I could and then.............. I am going broke! Luckily DH is crazily supportive.

BTW - Lemme just give a heartfelt THANK YOU to the person who uploaded this. So much easier to read than the earlier scan which left me practically crosseyed.

Probably safer this way that folks sitting on a fault line in Chile which, according to what I recall hearing, is about 150 years overdue for a massive quake and has been tremoring - but not moving - for the last year or so.

I have honestly never experienced this. It is not because I am too young, or grew up in a liberal family -- my family is very conservative and very Catholic.
By the time I was a teen, in the late 60's I had openly gay friends. I don't recall it being a big deal.
JMHO attitudes changed in 1980's when the US became conservative and the number of Evangelical and Fundamentalist Christians skyrocked and AIDS scared people.
***
Adam had family and friends in the audience for every Idol show. I am sure that if Adam wanted to have Drake labeled "boyfriend" Idol would have done it. Adam is the one who chose not to do an interview about being gay during Idol, and I take him at his word, he wanted it to be about the music.
The weirdest thing about the presentation of Adam's family on Idol is how the producers didn't include the fact that Leila and Eber were divorced for years, but still friends. Not sure how you work it in but it was still odd.

There is no evidence that Adam lost Idol because the middle of the country voted for Kris. There is certainly no evidence that there is more homophobia in the middle of the country. One thing is sure, Bill O'Reilly, Fox TV and the like are more popular in California than in Iowa or Ohio (based on Nielsen ratings). For the Top 3 Dial Idol had Adam winning most of the center of the country, and Kris winning California and NY. The is also no evidence that Adam being gay had anything to do with him loosing Idol. There is a lot of evidence that Adam is polarizing -- and he was very polarizing in 2009. People loved him or hated him -- and I think that vote was all about Adam. So Kris got votes from the people who liked Kris best and from people who really did not like Adam. And many of the people who did not like Adam did not care about whether he was gay or not, they did not like him -- the emo look, the f'ing with a country song, etc. Finally, people do not like to be told who is going to win Idol. Watch the Top 13 performance -- the judges were crowning Adam. I hate rehashing the "voting" subject but I have to say from my anecdotal voting experience from NYC - there was no way to get thru to Adam's phone number, it was busy for the full FOUR hours. I had an involuntary (i.e I recruited kids/friends/relatives) "voting party" with many phone lines for dialing and texting, I knew exactly how many seconds it takes to redial...we could've contributed good several thousand dialed votes, except no-one, not on one line could get thru the busy signal. I tried Kris' number exactly three times and I got thru every time. FOUR HOURS OF BUSY SIGNALS!!!! They did not bother to adjust throughput capacity on Adam's lines, at least not at the exchanges servicing my area. I will never believe it was kosher. (OMG...it was fun! I didn't let the voting slaves go to the bathroom even! :D) Ditto! I was shocked the next morning when I got on line and read so many with the same experience. I believe Adam may have crashed the lines. The year following Idol Adam crashed every website server, radio station call in line. Technology wasn't ready for Adam Lambert. Q3, I didn't mean any disrespect stating BOR & EW made an impact. I didn't intend to state it as fact it is just my experience. Attitudes towards Homosexuality are changing rapidly. My daughters are in High School and have many friends that are openly gay or bi. It is not considered a stigma in their circles. It is just another part of life a non-issue. A decade from now these are the people who will be running our country, regardless of political party.

Not rehashing the Idol voting debacle but the phone lines seemed always busy to me when I tried to keep voting.
And I had no clue Adam was gay which I could have cared less about if I had known. I thought it was all just rock n' roll.

And this is not directed at you but at the stereotypes about the middle of the US. I have lived on both coasts, and all over the US. I now make my home in the middle of the country in two very different places -- Ultra "blue" NE Ohio and Ultra "red" NE Mississippi. I have found the country is far less red and blue than people think. Things are changing rapidly but they are changing everywhere.
