I love popular music but know peanuts about the music biz; does anyone know if it's a favorable event in terms of future single release that LMD is being used in a commercial? On the one hand, I'm excited to hear it reach the general public via television, but on the other, I wonder if its being used in a commercial will in effect "wear it out" before it ever gets a chance to catch on as a single. I have, of course, heard many songs that were already popular later being used to sell products, but I don't know that I've ever heard it go the other way around -- that an advertising campaign song became a radio hit. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Almost everything Avicii makes is very dance-able. But I just can't get through this remix. It could be the modding of Adam's voice, but the rhythm sounds disjointed to me as well. And not in a nice or even interesting way. As if the vocals don't match with the music. I really like most of the other remixes. Shame on me is a really nice one. Avicii used a lot of those remixes (or versions of them) in the show that I was at, instead of the originals. I really admire the fact that you can get past the modded vocals, maybe I should give it a few relistens, see if it grows on me. But I'd much rather see the original LMD go far! Love that song, and I would be so happy for Adam. Did you hear my "unchipmunked" version? picosong.com/ewkT/BTW you're totally right in saying the vocals don't match the music. Not sure if this was mentioned before but it was originally a remix of Wake Me Up. Try singing Wake Me Up over the chipmunked version and it'll fit perfectly. So you've got Lay Me Down's melody over Wake Me Up's chord progression which is quite different to LMD's. The reason Adam is chipmunked in the first place is cause Wake Me Up is in B and Lay Me Down is in A, so they had to raise Adam's voice two semitones to fit it. Why didn't they just make LMD its own remix?? Who knows. Hey stranger!! {{{ HUGS }}}Had no idea it was originally a remix of Wake Me Up. Well, that explains the chipmunk to raise the key, but....srly...??!!??

Anyone have thoughts on this? Weirdly enough, I think its becoming more common. Didn't the success of FUN's "We Are Young" have a lot to do with a SuperBowl commercial? Also, that song used for one of the super skinny Apple computers didn't hit (at least *my*) radio until after the ad aired on tv.

I do remember "We Are Young" in an ad, now that you mention it, but I didn't know that's how it was originally popularized. I absolutely love, love, love the Lipton advertisement. You can't help but smile while watching it. I'm so happy that a song Adam sings and wrote on is being used for such a fun summer campaign and for such an established, well-known company!

Hey stranger!! {{{ HUGS }}}Had no idea it was originally a remix of Wake Me Up. Well, that explains the chipmunk to raise the key, but....srly...??!!?? Maybe Avicii accidentally wrote "remix Wake Me Up" a second time instead of "remix Lay Me Down" on his remix album to-do list, then when faced with two remixes of the same song had to think fast. Shit happens

Lady GaGa's lead single off Art Pop was Applause and it was used in a Kia Soul commericial with hamsters. Your music needs to be out there any way possible.

I had no idea that this was borrowed and Adam's voice just got 'adjusted' to match the remix of a different song. Sure shows me that Avicii is somewhere in a 'different line of business', if you so want, one that does not see vocals quite the same way. Foreign world to me, for sure and probably for Adam too at times, I would think. It may be a useful cooperation in many ways, but its all kinds of strange never the less.

a side note….. I went up to New York today to see another Broadway Show.. I lucked out and saw "The Bridges of Madison County" I HIGHLY recommend this musical. It was a love affair. I believe there was a movie made featuring Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood. The music was beautiful i hope it gets the Tony award next year. One thing I noticed which I haven't hard, was the main character, Thomas Kincaid sings acoustic. It was really gorgeous. Adam related?? I would love to hear Adam in this role, This is the type of music I believe Adam could blow out the theater attendees. Or maybe this style of music is what i prefer rather than pop. Adam has such quality in his voice and range. This musical was made for him It was that good. And it was a book before it was a movie. There are some videos of the musical score here: www.broadway.com/buzz/173717/your-next-favorite-broadway-score-hear-kelli-ohara-steven-pasquale-more-sing-full-songs-from-madison-county/
