There was some mention the other day about how Lipton made a mistake by doing a commercial with the Muppets, but I came across a video "Lipton & the Muppets #BeMoreTea US Commercial" that was posted on Feb 28th, and has 4.2 million views already!  The Muppets have some fans! What you have there, is the just the Muppets, in general. Lipton has been using the Muppets as commercial characters since many, many years. And generally, of course the key characters, Hermit Kermit the frog, Miss Piggy, etc and the show as a whole, are totally engrained in American culture. Hence the high views on a video like this. The Lipton tea video that was released prior to the film 'Muppets most Wanted' and that has a few pre-released scenes from the film in it, is also on youtube, with a dismal 23K views, kind of proving the total disinterest in that movie. Here is that youtube: Even Tina Fey alone cannot rescue a lousy movie. Btw, was at a gas station today. Did not happen to need any ice tea, but looked over at that section with new found interest. If I had needed a cold beverage, it would have not even been a question, which one I would have picked. What a difference a day makes. lol ETA: Clearly got a problem spelling frog names correctly today - thanks Geezlouise - fixed Even if the movie is a flop, the Muppets are loved and the commercial is a big hit. (Their target audience grew up with Muppets and many now have their own kids.) Two separate things -- the commercial and the movie. People remember what they want to remember. Does anyone remember what commercials Moby's "Porcelain" was in? youtu.be/BYGDhiQgnAAIt was used in 3 different commercials, the biggest was Volkswagen Polo. (I can't find the commercial, but it is what made the song famous. |
