OT, but some will find it interesting, many parallels with pop scene ... Collin Raye (a very successful Grammy-winning country music artist) talks about forces in the industry that have led to the artists and songwriters "watering down" the music to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Relevant comments begin at 2:00: The decline of country music

Could it be possible that releasing LMD as a single at this time is part of DMG's master plan for this year? Or, if it happens to be released worldwide, just a happy coincidence?

If Lay Me Down is the next Avicci single released, what effect would this have on Adam's timing of his first single off A3? First and foremost, welcome to our new members and de-lurkers!!! Sorry to be so slow but I have tons on my plate right now. Some time ago, I posted what I thought was an ideal scenario. I took very seriously the idea that it would be better if the album was released after the grammy deadline was passed in the fall in order to give it enough exposure time to be a contender (let's think big right?). It seems having a few really big hits makes the album much more likely to be considered.
With that in mind, I thought having Lay Me Down released a month or two before the Queen tour was brilliant. It would really warm things up. Then all the publicity of that and of the Queen tour could be capitalized on going into the releases of the first single (here I get vague) somewhere after Lay Me Down really establishes itself and still in the period where he is riding high on QAL as well. Maybe just after the tour? During?
Depending on that timing, either a second single or the album in the fall. If it is the album, again after the Grammy deadline. Maybe the second single earlier in the fall and the album late fall in time for the big buying season.

Anybody know the date for the new album?? Some said in spring some said in summer time.. I CAN'T WAIT FOR IT!! I'M SO ADDICTED I NEED NEW SONGS!! :D My guess is single in Spring or summer (soon-ish.) And album in the Fall, after Sept. 30th (Grammy deadline for this year, which would put the new album in the following year's eligibility!) . I do not think it will be as late as November though. Just guessing though!

I am guessing Adam's team knows exactly what is happening with LMD and has known for a while. If LMD is a US single I am sure the team has Adam's own music planned perfectly. I have a lot of faith in this era's rollout. (Fascinatng to watch what we know so far happening!)

Relevant comments begin at 2:00: The decline of country musicInteresting commentary. He says that country songs were never about the chord progressions, but about the lyrics, which were a type of poetry. But now, there is little attempt at interesting, poetic lyrics. (Somehow, I never put "country music" and "poetry" together in my mind.) Just yesterday I was chatting with my musician sister. She sat in on some gigs with some local bands while on winter vacation in Texas. One was a country band. They wanted to rehearse, tell her the keys and chord progressions for all the songs, and write them down on what are called "charts" so she could play along on songs that were unfamiliar to her (most of the country repertoire). She shocked them by saying (and then going on to prove) that was unnecessary. Her sense of pitch was such that she could hear one chord and know what key they were in. The songs they played were predominantly the same 3 chords in every song, and therefore, predictable enough for her to play along without any "cheat sheets." The guys in the band thought she was some kind of a mind reader. Not true. Just a long-time, trained musician knowledgeable in song construction, chord and melodic structure, and having a great ear. How to relate this to Adam? Hmmmm. He has a great musical ear. He has years of experience and musical instincts that allow him to play with melodies and do these marvelous riffs that make even a boring, repetitive song interesting and take it to the next level. He doesn't sing country. When the band did ACIGC on the GNT tour, trained musicians cringed and complained about Tommy's bass playing. He obviously didn't know the song and flubbed the bass line repeatedly. Trained musicians familiar with blues and rock and guitar would be able to play an accurate bass line on the song even tho they were unfamiliar with it specifically, and thought Tommy showed his limitations when he couldn't. Now I am not sure why I am writing all this, except to say that what is massively popular, what sells the most is often not what is the most creative, innovative or complex musically. As a trained musician, when I talk about what I want to hear Adam sing, I am often wishing for something more musically sophisticated, challenging, and deep.

I'd think they'd want to announce the label and let that play out in the media for a while, then announce the album title (another news cycle), then the single title (3rd news cycle). Its all a guess though until it happens.

Anyone have a link to the radio edit of Lay me down? I wanted to listen, but searching on this board and via google only gives me downloads.

It's starting to look almost certain that Lay Me Down will be Avicii's next single following Addicted To You. That's wonderful! Can't wait to hear it on the radio as I'm sure Europe will soon follow. On the other hand, it's still unclear what'll happen in the US. Hey Brother is quite high in the charts and it'll take several weeks until it's time to release the next one to the radio. Will they go with ATY or skip it and go directly to LMD remains to be seen but I'm partial to skipping to LMD.
I'm guessing Avicii's next single will be out sometime mid to late May in the US and I don't see Adam releasing his own single during the same time frame. I'm sure the plans for LMD are known to Adam's management and they'll adapt accordingly - it'll be interesting to see how. 'Bad' news is that it takes a long time for a song to climb in the US, several months in fact. And if Adam is releasing his album late this year, he'll need to get a single out in September at the latest. I hope LMD moves quickly and wil be high on the charts when Adam's single comes out, sometime after Queen tour. I really don't see a window for it earlier as the tour starts in two months - and there's certainly not time for the album before tour IMO.
