My initial feeling on the sweet sixteen party was . . . that it was weird. But the total cuteness and niceness of the whole affair, I mean the tweets and pics and vids, changed my feeling from kinda wieird to . . . pretty sweet (sixteen) after all. Personally, I look forward to enjoying pics, vids, tweets, etc. from upcoming public concerts and (hopefully) appearances. I don't think I'm jealous or bitter - I hope not, anyway - but maybe I am because I have a hard time getting past the "conspicuous consumption" aspect of these private party affairs. I thought the teens couldn't really appreciate the kind of money their party cost them, but their seeming very genuine appreciation and respect for Adam - well, it made me feel happy. So far I don't have the same reaction to the tweets, pics, vids coming from this party, which doesn't matter at all; I only mention it so that if anyone else is having a similarly less than excited reaction they don't feel alone.

You know, I totally get this dilemma. It IS conspicuous consumption, especially compared to my life. But my life is conspicuous consumption compared to people with no home, or no clean drinking water, kind of like this: I think of this whenever I throw food away, turn on the tap water, am warm on a cold night. I totally get it, it is hard to think of myself as a conspicuous consumer, but I would be to many many people around the world, or even here in my own country (US). I think most of us spend to the level that we can.

I bet you anything that Adam , in his time, has said about more than a few cute guys "too bad he's straight." He probably isn't upset about women expressing their attraction that way.
Yep, I hear that argument, but I am not as sure that he has said that because he is, I think, always very careful, always very respectful in interviews when he's gotten questions about straight guys (Kris, Tommy) - he'll say "oh, yeah, he's cute, he's also straight though." I think he's very "matter of fact" about that. I don't think he's super upset BUT I did think he was directly addressing "too bad . . . " comments in his #realtalk tweets. I thought he was asking people to think about just that way of expressing attraction. And, I even think he was saying it is not really even "too bad for them" because it's not like he would otherwise be dating all these fans. You left out my second sentence, which addressed the intent of the speakers. The spirit behind the words matters. Everyone suffers from a bit of "foot in mouth" disease. To reference MyS*&@^#r50's post, if any of the real time tweeters had responded with "I meant too bad FOR ME", Adam would probably have responded positively, imho.
Agree that Adam's answers to media questions about Tommy and Kris are matter-of-fact; intended to set the record straight. The "too bad" comments are more impulsive. In the same category as "too bad he lives a thousand miles away, too bad he's way too young for me, too bad he's my cousin, too bad he's married", etc.
