Except that Taylor Hicks toured with that role. Folks were snickering, saying that it was quite a drop down from Idol winner. Don't want that comparison for Adam. But, what do I know?

I really want to hear/see Adam perform "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy". It is on my dream setlist.
It seems like such a perfect fit!
They pulled out WWTLF and DA which were not US hits. Maybe we will get a couple of other great songs that were not big hits?

Hmm, I fail at the comparison game, but I had no idea that Taylor had that role, so maybe others outside the Idol bubble wouldn't, either? In any case, though, I think there's a difference between having a role in a touring stage production and being a star cameo appearance in a one-off nationally televised live network production of a musical (remember, the Sound of Music thing was deemed a huge success, hence the wish to copy the model). But I'm just having fun playing around with fantasies until Adam finally gets around to putting the pedal to the metal!

KittyKay.....thanks for asking. There were no problems where I live. We've got round 2 late this afternoon/tonite and then gorgeous weather for the next 10 days.
I could so picture Adam singing "Beauty School Dropout"!

IMO this would be different because: 1. Many of those snickers, in all honesty, come from glamberts and are handed out to all idol fans of NAL's...with the possible exception of Kelly.... 2. What msp said...this is a one off cameo, not a touring gig. If Adam did it, he would be brought in as one of very few stars/musicians who could carry off both the singing and the camp. 3. There will always be snickerers....they live to ridicule others as they do not have the balls to do that sort of thing themselves. It is what it is.... I have to admit the fellow in that vid above did a really good job! eta...did not mean Taylor Hicks...I like him OK but the other young fellow was much better....lol

Yes, Taylor Hicks played that part on Broadway and then in the National Tour. It is a feature role. If Adam does one of these TV musicals, I hope he is cast as a lead. The interesting thing about Teen Angel is that it is open to interpretation -- and so he could perform it as Adam, sort of like Elliott was a version of Adam. Idol fans are so high school -- my Idol is better than your Idol predominates. I take this kind of snickering with a grain of salt (or a mountain.) ** I learned a huge lesson about Adam from the Idol Finale. When I heard his duet artist was KISS, I was pissed off, angry, thought it was a slam/insult, etc. As it turned out, Adam made that amazing and got them to let him do the solo up front, had the best outfit, and was pretty good with KISS. Then the show closed with Queen. So IF Adam got involved with the FOX production of "Grease" and IF he was Teen Angel, he would slay it and would make it seem cool. It's just what he does. He makes everything betterer.

There were no Glamberts to snicker. Taylor was well received in the role. Many of these live musicals need to cast American Idol alum. Too many of the current pop stars aren't capable of singing live at the level required for the role.
