His tweet stated that he will soon begin rehearsals. If the tour starts June 19th, then he should be getting about 4-5 weeks or so of rehearsal time. Is that about right? How much did they rehearse before 2012? Was it a similar time frame? It's good in that there will be many repeats of song selection...but with the timeframe perhaps that will lead them to try a few new song choices. *fingers crossed* Adam has said in interviews they only had about 10 days to rehearse for the last tour. We should warn you Adam is terrible with time. He could easily mean they are starting weeks from now to tour with Queen. If they are spending a month rehearsing it bodes well for a different set list than before. I don't remember exact dates in 2012 but Adam spent three to four weeks in London. Wasn't there a short concert at G.A.Y. to start the stay and maybe inteviews, visit to radio station or two? Then two weeks of rehearsals and the last week he did promo for QAL (and his album). (Did he have a one-off concert in US west coast too?) Naturally, during that week the equipment was transported to Kiev. This time I was expecting Adam to concentrate on QAL starting May 19 and the rehearsals on May 26 at the latest. First week preparations for Adam (ie learning some new songs and prepping the lyrics of the 'old' ones etc.), then two weeks of rehearsals, a week for equipment transport / time zone adjusting for Brian and Roger. If they opt for three-week rehearsal period then Adam might start his Queen-mode as soon as in 10-12 days, if two weeks then start in 18-22 days depending on how close he wants to cut it. I would say either option could be described with 'soon'. Maybe the tour is already strongly in Adam's mindset, lots of discussions going on etc., perhaps paced a bit differently than my plan. But I don't think they would rehearse for 4 weeks.

Hump Day With Adam Lambert: The Very Best www.thebacklot.com/hump-day-with-adam-lambert-the-very-best/04/2014/........... “If some of these tracks feel like musical mission statements, it’s in their skillful fusion of mainstream pop and rock with left-of-center, if not underground, musician and pop-cultural markers, and their clear conviction towards that mission,” reads the album’s liner notes. “And if that’s not the hallmark of an artist who’s unfailingly true to himself… well, you are invited to listen to some more until you get it.” Wow, that’s a strong, supportive statement … coming from the label that totally f*cked him over. But I digress … The question is, will you buy this collection? It may seem like a cynical cash grab now that Adam has moved on, but since he did co-write some of these songs, he will get royalties. And it is a way to support him til his next album comes out. On the other hand, how can it be called “Best Of” when it doesn’t feature “Cuckoo” or “Outlaws Of Love?” more..... Or Shady or Kickin In or Pop That Lock or ....... (as you said more)

I posted several rather detailed discussions about protecting your PC from the new Internet Explorer bug, and bugs/viruses in general, on page 4 of the "How Do I??? ... Help with Tech questions" section. These are copies of the discussions I posted at the end of yesterday's thread. One post deals specifically with Windows XP issues while another is for all Windows operating systems. Also posted are links to instructions on how to import bookmarks from IE to FireFox or Chrome. adamtopia.com/thread/992/help-tech?page=4&scrollTo=494484Just read it! Thank you so much for this. I have Windows 7, not XP, but I hate IE and rarely use it. I do have some Bookmarks on it I don't want to lose. I didn't see instructions (or a link) for moving from IE to Firefox. Very possible I missed this? The links to move the bookmarks are on the same page of the link above, you'll need to scroll a bit earlier.

He could easily mean they are starting weeks from now to tour with Queen. If they are spending a month rehearsing it bodes well for a different set list than before. LOL - fair enough. Just trying to be optimistic I guess! WOW! exquisitely beautiful! All of it! the melody, the composition, the vocals, the lyrics, the guitars... so upsetting to see your "0%"... I know, right? Very sad. Amazing to think of Freddie's state of mind while writing and then recording this song. Amazin. My recollection on the 2012 rehearsals was that Adam was there for 10 days of rehearsals but that Queen started rehearsals about 2 weeks before Adam arrived. I may be misremembering. I am certain we will get some new music on this tour -- the only question is how much will we get. *** On the QAL Setlist and "My Fairy Queen" I would love to hear this song sung in a more normal register -- the lyrics are some of the most beautiful Freddie ever wrote. But no, I think the only song from Rhye we will hear is "Seven Seas of Rhye". On "My Fairy King" I think that Brian may have had a lot more to do with the musical composition of that track than he gets credit for. [Similar to "Seven Seas of Rhye" which Brian co-wrote but is only credited to Freddie.] Certainly the lyrics, melody and structure came from Freddie, but the layered guitars and I believe the arrangement and perhaps more were from Brian. We do know that "My Fairy King" existed in a simple form before Freddie and Brian started to work on it in studio, and that Brian worked with Freddie on the lyrics. I agree with Talon that this song will not be be performed -- and Roger has said on more than one occasion that he was not a fan of the fairy theming that Queen did in the early years -- but I think there is a slim possibility that Brian could pull out a bit of this for a guitar or instrumental break in a medley. I know he did this in at least one performance in 1975 -- although I cannot find a recording of that. It was one of those teases that Queen often did. For example, Queen did a tease of "Under Pressure" at the QAL MTV EMA performance. Their past concerts were filled with these teases and usually they were so short that they went unnoticed. Sometimes, they did a tease of something they were still working on and then when the song was released months or years later, it went unnoticed. ** My biggest hope for the upcoming tour is that Roger and Brian do not underestimate the US fans and that they put together a setlist of the big hits, and do not bring us a real old-style Queen experience, and they skip the early and late Queen music that had little impact on the US market. Yes, I expect the 14 or so "usual suspects" but for me the real excitement will come from seeing a few new-old songs performed -- Liar ( Queen 1973) and Innuendo ( Innuendo 1991) would be a nice place to start. >> I just hope Roger and Brian know that just because a song was not played a lot/at all on US radio does not mean US fans do not know it.

To continue a bit of the QAL rehearsal period speculation when remembering that someone said something like 'no, they don't need as long as last time, most of the songs are familiar already...'. Yes, the songs are familiar but it was two years ago. Yes, they played the iHeart concert but this is different. I should think two weeks minimum because there's the technical side too (lights, special effects, choreo etc).
Going through the familiar songs takes time too and they might try something new with them. Maybe they want to make music together and see how it develops. Then a couple of new songs. Try out how the setlist flows, how the transitions are made, what might be reduced to medleys, how it feels etc etc in addition to all the details. This especially in view of Brian's statements that they want to do it well (and wasn't he described as perfectionist?).

All the QAL thoughts bring me back to my twice interrupted and due to that totally misedited post two days ago on 'what is he going to do in May'. My point was that QAL is around the corner and there's very little time for anything else. I was supposed to ask what do you think he could do in two weeks promo-wise and do you think that's enough for new music (bearing in mind that the promo would get mixed with QAL anyway).
I think we have the answer now. QAL mode starting soon, in about two weeks perhaps. Something else as per the IG pic of an interview is sprinkled in, album work continuing, LMD at work overseas (US status still unknown). There is forward motion going on even without his single - and a lot to do in May as well.

Yes, Adam has a very fluid sense of time. "Soon" could be next week, a month from now, or, some time this year. Since we are talking about rehearsing music only (well, yes, it is incredible and complex music) and not choreography and spoken lines like in the theater, I would not expect them to do more than two to three weeks of rehearsal. Brian and Roger know these songs like they know their own names. It is mostly brush up for them, and some tweaking of arrangements that Adam initiates. For Adam, the learning curve is steeper, but he can start by listening to recordings and studying lyrics. The rehearsals with the band are more for coordination - tempo, entrance points, instrumental breaks, backing harmonies. Full, 2 hr plus musicals are mounted in three weeks routinely. I cannot see them taking longer. IMO.
