A minor correction, if that's okay--"No Boundaries" is not the worst song ever. "Don't Want to Miss a Thing" is the worst song ever. I want to lock that song in a cage full of rabid wolverines and let them tear it apart, and then I want to bury the pieces in the most remote section of Siberia and salt the earth so it can't grow back. Poor Caleb was forced to sing it last week on Idol. Somehow he managed not to choke on the insipid lyrics. Yes, IDWMAT is insipid, but the lyrics are not completely horrible... I could stay awake just to hear you breathing Watch you smile while you are sleeping While you're far away and dreaming I could spend my life in this sweet surrender I could stay lost in this moment forever Every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure
Don't wanna close my eyes I don't wanna fall asleep 'Cause I'd miss you, baby And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you The sweetest dream would never do I'd still miss you, baby And I don't wanna miss a thing
Lying close to you feeling your heart beating And I'm wondering what you're dreaming, Wondering if it's me you're seeing Then I kiss your eyes and thank God we're together And I just wanna stay with you In this moment forever, forever and everAnd DWMAT has a nice melody. I honestly think that if Caleb just would have not done it as an 80's ballad it could have been a good song for him. He is not Steven Tyler. I have to admit, when I watched that performance I wondered what Adam would have done with this song on Idol. I think he might have made it more of a ballad. But it has nothing to compare to NB! Ohhh hmmm... Seconds, hours, so many days You know what you want, but how long can you wait Every moment lasts forever When you feel you've lost your way And what if my chances were already gone I started believing that I could be wrong But you gave me one good reason To fight and never walk away So here I am still holding on
With every step you climb another mountain With every breath it's harder to believe You make it through the pain Weather the hurricanes To get to that one thing Just when you think the road is going no where Just when you almost gave up on your dreams They take you by the hand and show you that you can There are no boundaries... There are no boundaries
I fought to the limit, to stand on the edge What if today is as good as it gets Don't know where the future's heading But nothing's gonna bring me down Jumped every bridge Run every line I risk being safe I always knew why I always knew why So here I am still holding on
JMHO, NB is the worst song ever!

I freely admit that No Boundaries is a bad song, but it doesn't incite me to violence the way Don't Want To Miss A Thing does. DWTMAT doesn't even make sense. You don't miss things when you're asleep because you're asleep!

You don't miss things when you're asleep because you're asleep! I don't think you are interpreting that the same way the writers are. If something happens while you are asleep you miss being a part of it. You are not experiencing the things that are happening while you sleep. That is what they are talking about missing.

With these beards, Ricky Martin, Adam, and George Michael all look very similar. The difference is just that Ricky and George will always look like this (with or without beard, actually). But for Adam, it is just one side of his. He is the ultimate chamelion, who can look like Elvis the next moment, and like James Dean, or like Liza Minnelli, or like Boy George, or like Brooke Shields. And yet, no matter which direction he goes in, it will always be Adam, instantly recognizable. Neither Ricky Martin nor George Michael can either pull that off, or have tried, for that matter.
Musically, and especially lyrically, I am not with you guys this morning. I love those tender lyrics of 'You're my best Friend'. And have nothing against 'Don't want to miss a Thing', and while NB may be pushing it in the lyrics overwrought department, I don't hate the song with quite the same vengeance as some here.
So, I'll just find myself something else to do for a few hours....my husband brought some plants that need to get into the soil. Will stop by later again...
But let me just say...
John Deacon wrote some great songs. I guess, still waters run deep, as they say. I so wish he were still part of the band, even if he does not want the stage life anymore and handed that part off, why can't he or won't he be part of it behind the scenes? Of course, his choice, but very unfortunate.
Animated, love your golden Adam and also the Queen T-shirt Adam. Love your work.

But the song says "I miss you, baby." It doesn't seem to assuming that the loved one is involved in a bunch of adventures that the sleeper is missing out on. In that case it would say, "Hey, how come you keep leaving me out of your life and doing things while I'm asleep?" Besides, the song is based on an actual quote by James Brolin, who claimed that he missed Barbra Streisand when he was asleep. Seriously.

Finally watched my DVRed iHeart Awards last night & I surprisingly thought it was a well put together show! The awards are BS, but the show itself was good! I thought it moved along quickly & I was entertained. Really loved the LA Music Scene vignettes! I enjoyed it too, but the reviews I've seen, and twitter etc. reactions, were mostly unfavorable.

I so wish he were still part of the band, even if he does not want the stage life anymore and handed that part off, why can't he or won't he be part of it behind the scenes? Of course, his choice, but very unfortunate. I wish so too. His melodic bassline playing is SO underrated. He just grew tired of the music business in general and was hit hard by Freddie's death. Some speculation ensues that he and Brian aren't always the best of friends either so with Brian being more actively at the head, it made it easier for him to just step away...

Paul Anka should have been sentenced to prison for this one. I hereby delegate Don't Want to Miss a Thing to the status of Second Worse Song Ever.
