TALON'S TAKE:
Well this was a weird one to handle. Q3 did a great job and I don't have a whole lot to add to her entry so it's more going to be all supplemental stuff.
HOWEVER, a few quick corrections/notations on Q3's post:
Techincally, See What A Fool I've Been is a bit of a cover/co-write, but we went over that in a previous post but for the sake of completeness.
QPR never played Amandla - Queen (Brian and Roger) played it with Anastacia and cast at the 2003 46664 concerts prior to QPR forming.
A few songs missed on Q3's list:
QUEEN ERA:
During Brian's solo he added a few tracks that Q3 missed:
"I Feel Fine" - The Beatles song - Brian played the riff at Mannheim in 1986
"Let Me Out" - Brian May & Friends song - Brian would add snippets of this during his solo during The Works Tours.
QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS ERA:
"Maybe It's Because I'm A Londoner" - A London folk anthem by Hubert Gregg played just before the acoustic set in London.
"The Stealer" - A Free song that QPR played in Zurich in 2008.
Again in Brian's solo during QPR Era:
"Barcelona" - The Freddie Mercury solo track in Barcelona
"Concerto de Aran Juez" - A composition for classical guitar and orchestra by the Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo in Madrid
"Fog On The Tyne" - A Lindisfarne track incorporated in Newcastle.
SUPPLEMENTAL:
What to do for supplemental here? I think I'll simply give a list of the cover songs that Brian or Roger have done on their PROPER solo tours (not the myriad guest appearances or else the post will be even MORE unwiedly )
BRIAN - PROPER
"All The Way From Memphis" - A Mott The Hoople song Brian recorded and put on his Another World album. Played throughout the following tour with Brian substituting whatever city they were in for Memphis.
"Dance With The Devil" - Cozy Powell song Brian opened his 1998 tour with in tribute to Cozy.
"Dancing Queen" - The Abba song done as a one off in the home of Abba. Sung by his backing vocalists who on the side were an Abba tribute act.
"Hoochie Koochie Man" - A blues standard by Willie Dixon. Played in Warsaw as an emergency impromptu bit by Jamie Moses when Brian's Red Special had some issues.
"I Wanna Hold Your Hand" - The Beatles track played in Liverpool in 1993.
"Merry Christmas" - Christmas song played in Oporto in 1993.
"Only Make Believe" - A Conway Twitty song that Brian recorded when he was making his aborted "Heroes" album. Brian then performed it quite a bit - many times as his parody T.E. Conway.
"Rollin' Over" - A Humble Pie track Brian put on his Back To The Light album but only played a few times in concert in 1992.
"Since You've Been Gone" - Rainbow track, Brian covered at ALL of his 1993 gigs and many others as well - done because his drummer Cozy Powell was involved with the recording of that track.
"Slow Down" - A Larry Williams tune (also covered by The Beatles) Brian put on his album and played on his Another World Tour.
"With A Little Help From My Friends" - Beatles tune, Brian played as a one off.
In the guitar solo:
"Kalinka" - Traditional Russian song performed in Moscow
"Waltzing Matilda" - Traditional Australia song performed in Australia
BRIAN +KERRY
More difficult because they're concept is partially reimagining older songs (Not including Queen or Wicked songs or original B+K songs)
"Also Sprach Zarathustra" - A/K/A 2001 Space Odyssey theme.
"Anthem" - A song from the musical Chess written by the Abba guys.
"Born Free" - A song by John Barry and Don Black from the film of the same name. Used to help the foundation of the same name.
"Can't Help Falling In Love" - An Elvis/UB40 tune done simply/
"Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill" - A Beatles tune done a few times.
"Cosi Celeste" - A song by Italian superstar Zucchero, played with his daughter.
"Diamonds Are Forever" - James Bond track recorded for their album.
"Dust In The Wind" - A Kansas track (Kansas opened for Queen a few times in the 70s)
"I Love It When You Call" - A track by The Feeling - a UK pop rock band.
"In The Bleak Midwinter" - A traditional Christmasy song.
"I (Who Have Nothing)" - A Ben E. King track.
"Knockin' On Heaven's Door" - A Bob Dylan track
"Land Of Hope Of and Glory" - A patriotic British tune done as a one off.
"Nothing Really Has Changed" - A song by Virginia Mckenna who did the Born Free film and heads the foundation.\
"Scarborough Fair" - The Simon and Garfunkel track.
"So Sad" - A Everly Brothers tune performed after Don Everly's death.
"Something" - A Beatles tune written by George Harrison
"Tell Me What You See" - Another Beatles tune, a bit more obscure.
"The Way We Were" - A Barbara Streisand song
"You Have To Be There" - A song from the Swedish musical Kristina, written by the Abba guys.
ROGER & THE CROSS PROPER
"A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall" - Bob Dylan track performed a few times by Rog.
"Let's Get Drunk (And Be Somebody)" - Never recorded - Written by The Cross guitarist Clayton Moss, but played quite a few times.
"Foxy Lady" - Jimi Hendrix tune covered by the Cross for their second album and also in concert.
"Rip It Up" - Little Richard tune performed by The Cross a few times.
"Rock and Roll" - The Led Zeppelin track played a few times by Rog on tour most especially with Brian on one special date.
"Soul (See You In Hull)" - Actually a Jason Falloon tune. Jason in Roger's guitarist for his solo tours. This was his track from his own album and Roger let him perform it throughout the 1994 tour.
"Twist & Shout" - The Beatles track, closed many of the 1994 tour shows.
"Voodoo Chile" - The Jimi Hendrix tune
WOOT!
Now for one big entry although it was never performed live it was the first real straight COVER recorded and released by Queen (well...Queen + Paul Rodgers):
Runaway
Written by: Del Shannon/Max Crook
Musicians:
Paul Rodgers - lead and backing vocals
Brian May - guitars, bass guitar, piano, backing vocals
Roger Taylor - drums, percussion, backing vocals
- Appears on the iTunes version of the album
- Initially planned to be on the album as the band indicated a cover would be on the album but for whatever reason it was relegated to a bonus track.
- Reportedly tried out a few times during soundchecks but never actually performed
PERSONAL NOTES:
- I LOVE this cover to be honest. Roger's Wah Wah Wah Wah backing vocals make the song but Brian's rocking guitar (and also his choir vocals) and Rog's power drumming are just spot on especially at the climactic ending.
CHANCES OF A COVER? 50%
If they do do a cover it won't be at every gig like it used to be...it'll be a one off here and there.
Best chances for a cover?
Jailhouse Rock, a Hendrix tune, but even more likely something slipped into Brian's solo.

As I walk along I wonder
What went wrong with our love
A love that was so strong
And as I still walk on I think of
The things we've done together
While our hearts were young
I'm a-walkin' in the rain
Tears are fallin' and I feel the pain
Wishin' you were here by me
To end this misery
And I wonder
I wah-wah-wah-wah-wonder
Why - why, why, why, why, why she ran away
Yes, and I wonder where she will stay
My little runaway
Run, run, run, run, runaway
I'm a-walkin' in the rain
Tears are fallin' and I feel the pain
Wishin' you were here by me
To end this misery
And I wonder
I wah-wah-wah-wah-wonder
