.... ETA: They will not do a pre-tour warm-up, they will do a big opening in Chicago. After all, the dress rehersal for the 2012 summer tour was in front of a quarter of a million people.

While I spam the thread --- on the topic of Adam and the Idol finale. They hinted he might be on but I am skeptical. I can't figure out what he would do. I recalled that they asked the Idol's about the favs and Adam was mentioned by two of the remaining three: They can do odd things on the AI finale. They put Adam with KISS who had little to do with Adam as an artist (and Queen ) But they usually put artists with someone famous who influenced them -- James Durbin/Judas Priest. Caleb is a hard one to figure what they do with -- his old band was Southern Rock, his Idol positioning is more general 80's metal. And I can't seen Adam and Alex. Unless this is an Adam solo, I am stumped. Is there an off chance they would elect to have Adam sing a track./medley of Queen with Caleb....that would be suitable. Brian and Roger would sign off on that I bet...perhaps even have a vid of iheart or Kiev on behind them with the background tracks....just a thought...I could see that and it would be good PR all round....

"Unless this is an Adam solo, I am stumped"
Last year, we were stumped too. Could not come up with any brilliant ideas for Angie and Adam, and then they pulled out 'Titanium'. Nobody had guessed that one, if I remember right and then we knew, who he was partnered up with.
I don't think Adam will have a solo, because, as you said, he has nothing to promote. But I do think that Adam is smart and wants to not repeat anything and leave the same impression he did last time. We are not going to get Jena at the piano with Adam shown from behind....etc, and nothing that would be musically along those lines either.
I think that Adam wants to switch it up, like he has always done on idol, and that could mean going back to classic rock, 80's style and use that as a talking point to mention QAL while talking with Ryan. I don't think that B&R have any interest or motivation to show up to this finale. The good news is their tour has been selling without having to do the promo tour circus.
Ok, I'll put a guess out: My bet is, Meatloaf, Adam and Caleb blowing the roof off the joint.
And as far as Caleb being a fool? Well, he can only learn from Adam. Rockers tend to have this foot in the mouth disease, but they are also the first to be forgiven such things. It is just the way things are. No right or wrong, just an observation with a long history of truth to it. Adam has never been that lucky. He hears back any word or action 10 years later. And both the media as well as the fans like doing that to him.
I don't think Caleb has a huge career, because as you say, he is not current and stuck in his wheelhouse. But he will be fine on the finale, imo.

Mellie, the variety show discussion was in an article about Neil Patrick Harris where he said he'd be interested in doing a weekly variety show, an updated Ed Sullivan show. I hope he gets to do it. I'm sure Adam would be a regular guest for both music and skits.

And you are allowed to eat again. Btw, I think, NPH is totally overdoing it right now with that weight loss. Why? Anyhow, back to Adam. If Adam is at the finale, and I think he will be, which other previous idols do we think will be there? The other three mentors?

LOL on Caleb and Adam doing Meatloaf... not that I wouldn't pay good money to see Adam chew the walls up with Bat out Hell, but if they do I hope they stay far far away from having Meatloaf sing with them cause his voice is trashed these days and is just painful to listen to knowing what it used to be.

Glad for Asheville -- but not interested in this contestant who should have apologized for his rude, ignorant comment and who I will ignore completely until he actually says he is sorry and is an ignorant, hateful fool. ** And, no, I cannot envision any occasion that would cause Adam to share a concert stage with that same fool. ** That said, Ashville is a lovely city and one many of my friends live in and one I enjoy. So I hope Adam does a concert there someday, just not with Caleb. JMHO I do not think that Caleb is Adam's type of artist or person. Well I have to agree Caleb is a bit of a neanderthal.. but IMHO he is the most talented at this point on the show. my favorite is Jessica. I never had Caleb appearing with Adam . I just thought maybe through this TV trip Adam might become interested in our mountain town. i'm happy that you like Asheville Well, I for one am not going to judge someone for using a word that I myself had no clue was now considered the can't use "r-word". Not that I have had any occasion or desire to use the word, but you can't assume that the notice that this is now a forbidden word has reached all corners of the population. In my circle, the really forbidden can't use demeaning word is "fuck" and I see that all the time all over the Adam fandom and by Adam himself. So much so that I have become desensitized to it and am now afraid that I may accidentally use it among my friends or at work where I would get written up by HR. And as far as that letter from the Dad of the girl with Down's Syndrome goes, you are not likely to get someone to apologize if you basically accuse them of knowing that they knew beforehand that the word was a forbidden word to use. (That was the tone of his letter even if he did not actually say it in so many words.) If you want someone to apologize, you must word it such a way that it does not come across as so accusatory. In other words, you have to follow the rules we have for posts here at Atop! Does that mean that I approve of what Caleb said? No, it doesn't . The tone was still one of lashing out and seemed to be directed at his fans even if he later said it was directed at haters. I get that he was pissed off about having to sing a song that he neither liked nor was suited to him, but he directed his steam in the wrong direction. It was Idol's decision to dictate which 2 of the tweeted songs they had to sing rather than giving them a choice of say the top 10 tweeted. Lashing out at Idol would probably have been even worse for his career. Such things are going to happen in any career in the public eye and Caleb is going to have to learn how to stay calm and positive even when he is pissed off if he wants to make it.

My family, in Asheville, are coming over to watch Caleb 's visit to our hometown with us this evening on AI..I'm really moved that Caleb/AI will be putting Asheville on TV. Our town is really something special and so is Caleb. I don't know if they will show the mayor ,but she is one of my daughter's friends... Now if Caleb can get Adam to someday do a concert here.... OMG that would be 6 degrees of separation . Very exciting for your city. Sounds like a great time.
