The Human Rights Campaign has a global engagement program through which they have begun reporting on key people who lobby worldwide for anti-LGBT laws. In the recent Equality magazine, which is published by HRC, there is a brief article entitled "Exporting Hate: American Extremists promote Hate in Nigeria, Uganda, and Russia." I just got sucked down the View rabbit hole and found something interesting that my explain a little about why the paps don't follow Adam around like they used to....Lindsay Lohan was on the view a month or so ago and the topic of selfies came up for discussion. At one point, Lindsay explained that one reason for celebrities to take selfies and upload them to instagram when they are out partying, etc. is that if and when they do that, the paps tend to leave them alone as there is no reason to take a pic...it has no value...because there is already a selfie out there. It also gives control to the celeb re which pic they want circulating and which not.....I thought that was really interesting...

Hi and thank you to all of you for your good wishes DH is now home and though we will have to monitor him, he is hopefully no longer having internal bleeding. It was a little scary but we seem to be under control now. so glad your DH is better and at home. Sorry at being late and know that you have my well wishes... |

Oh boy - Adam thinks we're slacking.....  But, kidding aside, he clearly wants us to pay a bit more attention to this: ADAM LAMBERT @adamlambert 4m My tweet about the heat got more attention than this important petition. C'mon....There are Human Lives at stake. wh.gov/l7Y8RIt's a tragedy, that while our progress and our efforts on behalf of the LGBT community have lead to progress in so many places, some of them previously very anti, and now slowly starting to turn around (boy scouts, various churches, etc.), yet, at the same time, those that totally don't get it, are feeling so threatened that they are clamping down even more brutally and are creating a nightmare for those caught up in it. Not sure that more pressure on this country will help. But, I do think that the US should offer asylum to anybody in the lgbt community who is fleeing from places, where their lives are threatened. The radicalization of those who feel threatened, is a terrible thing. It's the same thing we are observing with education of females around the world. The more we are succeeding with that, the more, those that absolutely want to prevent it, are using more and more radical sharia laws and brutal violence to enforce their old-fashioned ideas. Sudan, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Myanmar.....too many to name, and yes, Brunei. The first party suffering under Sharia law (which is not one uniform law, but implemented in local variations), are women. And that part seems to be consistent, wherever it is implemented, independent of local version. It is about time, people start informing themselves and helping on the end that they feel is the right one to start at. It's what Adam is doing and so should we, each where we see fit. Done and done |

This is interesting & also weird! Reading a Yahoo article about the Billboard Awards that is on their front page:
The Billboard Music Awards don't have categories devoted exclusively to pop. They honor artists, albums and songs in seven genres: R&B, rap, country, rock, Latin, dance/electronic, and Christian. But not pop.
That makes sense, doesn't it? Yeah, but it also means that artists and records that you and I might call pop get squeezed into the other genre categories. So Lorde's striking ballad "Royals," which won a Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance in January, is nominated here for Top Rock Song. Two of the five Grammy nominees for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance are placed in the Top R&B Song category here: "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke featuring T.I. + Pharrell and the especially poppy "Suit And Tie" by Justin Timberlake featuring Jay Z. Looking beyond Grammy nominees to all songs, I love Capital Cities' sprightly "Safe and Sound" and Passenger's tender "Let Her Go," but I would call them pop, not rock.
And yet, Billboard has a Pop chart!
