The tour takes its title from a quote from Adam Lambert when asked at the New York tour launch press conference his view of the opportunity to join Queen for their 24 date US tour which kicks off in June. Lambert replied: “I think the thing that’s special about this is that it is a limited thing. It’s this special engagement. It’s not like, 'Now we’re to the grind.' It’s a once in a lifetime tour.”

This is the first QUEEN tour of Australia since 1985.
THE ONCE IN A LIFETIME TOUR will kick off in Perth on Friday 22nd August at Perth Arena, then travel to Sydney on Tuesday 26 August at Allphones Arena, Melbourne on Friday 29 August at Rod Laver Arena with the grand finale at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Monday 1 September.
Queen + Adam Lambert received glowing reviews for their performance together at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas last September, triggering a conversation between Adam, Roger and Brian to take the show on the road. Rolling Stone said, “Lambert astounded the audience on songs like ‘We Will Rock You’ and the closing ‘We Are The Champions’ and ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’. It was the most anticipated act of the night.” Billboard claimed, “…Queen effectively stole the show, with timeless songs that music fans of all genres can sing along to” and the Hollywood Reporter exclaimed, “Adam Lambert, Queen bring down the iHeart house. With the perfect mix of rock attitude mixed with style, theatricality, sex appeal and impressive vocal gymnastics, [Lambert] took the band’s music to new heights.”
The threesome first shared the stage during American Idol in May 2009 for a performance of “We Are The Champions”. They teamed up again in 2011 at the MTV European Music Awards in Belfast, Ireland for an electrifying eight-minute finale of “The Show Must Go On”, “We Will Rock You” and “We Are The Champions” and in the summer of 2012, Lambert performed a series of shows with Queen across Europe as well as dates in Russia, Ukraine and Poland. They also performed three sold-out gigs at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.
Promoter Paul Dainty said of this momentous tour “Since I have started promoting and producing concert tours, one of my biggest dreams has been to bring Queen back to Australia and now this dream is a reality. This will be a long awaited chance for Australian fans to see one of the greatest rock bands in history and, as Rolling Stone recently said ‘’Adam Lambert fronting Queen will astound audiences.”
“I'm completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon,” added Lambert. “The thought of sharing the stage for a full set in Australia is so beautifully surreal. I'm honoured to be able to pay my respects to Freddie's memory; he's a personal hero of mine, and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band. I know this tour will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band, I feel like magic will be on display.”
In a career spanning over 40 years Queen has amassed a staggering list of sales, awards, and hall of fame inductions that is second to none. Record sales in the hundreds of millions of units, including an unprecedented string of number one albums and top-charting singles that continue to put Queen in the top ten of all-time iTunes sales, seven Ivor Novello Awards, an MTV Global Icon Award, two songs enshrined in the Grammy Hall of Fame - “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions” – which also remain the most played songs at sports events and arenas around the world. The statistics show Queen has the highest selling back catalogue in Australia, outselling even The Beatles. Even with the tragic loss of their uniquely talented singer Freddie Mercury, Queen remain one of the most revered bands in rock and pop history, able to claim one of the most enduring song catalogues of all time. Just think: “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Another One Bites the Dust”, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, “Radio Ga Ga”, “Killer Queen”, “Fat Bottomed Girls”, “Bicycle Race”, songs that form the backdrop to the lives of generations of fans across all ages. With their sterling songcraft, virtuoso musicality, and colossal spectacle of their live performances, Queen – Brian May, Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor and John Deacon - captured hearts and conquered charts like no other band in history, a legacy that continues to live through the ongoing work and concert performances by May and Taylor. Their musical We Will Rock You, co-created with writer Ben Elton, is approaching its 12th year on stage in London’s West End and is currently touring North America.
Adam Lambert’s stunning performances on the eighth season of American Idol are still widely regarded as some of the most riveting moments in the show’s history. His debut album For Your Entertainment earned him a Grammy Award nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. His second album, Trespassing, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. The subsequent tour took Lambert from Australia to South Africa, throughout Asia and Eastern Europe and culminated in a sold out arena show in Helsinki, Finland. In 2013, Lambert appeared as a guest star on the hit TV series, GLEE. He is currently writing and recording for his third album, which will be released this year.

Perth Arena - 15,500 seats
Sydney Allphones Arena - 21,000 seats
Melbourne - Rod Laver Arena - 15,000 seats

The 2014 "The Once in a Lifetime" Tour Countdown!
5.20.14 by Q3
The countdown moves on and the start of this epic tour gets closer. Only 31 days to go!
#30 “Now I’m Here” (1974)
Written by Brian May.
Released on Sheer Heart Attack November 8, 1974 and as a single on January 17, 1975.
"Now I'm Here" was written by Brian while he was in hospital with hepatitis. The song is noted for its hard riff and vocal harmonies. In the UK, the song reached #11 on the charts when released as a single in 1975. The song was a live favorite, performed at almost every concert from every concert from late 1974 to 1986.
"That was nice. That was a Brian May thing. We released it after Killer Queen. And it's a total contrast, just a total contrast. It was just to show people we can still do rock 'n' roll - we haven't forgotten our rock 'n' roll roots. It's nice to do on stage. I enjoyed doing that on stage."
Freddie Mercury - 21/05/1976, Record Mirror
I do not know if this song will be played on this tour, but I am hopeful. It was not included on the Q+PR or the QAL tours but Brian performed it in concert as a solo artist.

“Now I'm Here” Lyrics
The lyrics "Go, go, go, little queenie!" in the end is a reference to Chuck Berry's Little Queenie.
"Little Queenie" is a song written and performed by Chuck Berry. It appeared on the 1959 album Chuck Berry Is on Top and was released as a double A-side with "Almost Grown". Berry performed the song in the movies Go, Johnny Go! (1959) and Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' Roll (1987). One year earlier a Christmas song using the same melody had been released by Berry with the title "Run Rudolph Run".

Now I'm Here
Here I stand (here I stand..)
Look around around around around
(Around around around around..)
But you won't see me (you won't see me..)
Now I'm here (now I'm here..)
Now I'm there (now I'm there..)
I'm just a just a new man
Yes you made me live again
A baby I was when you took my hand
And the light of the night burned bright
And the people all stared didn't understand
But you knew my name on sight
Whatever came of you and me?
America's new bride to be
Don't worry baby I'm safe and sound
Down in the dungeon just Peaches and me
Don't I love her so?
Yes she made me live again Yeah!
A thin moon me in the smoke screen sky
Where the beams of your love light chase
Don't move don't speak don't feel no pain
With the rain running down my face
Your matches still light up the sky
And many a tear lives on in my eye
Down in the city just Hoople and me
Don't I love him so don't I love him so?
Whatever comes of you and me
I love to leave my memories with you
Now I'm here (now I'm here.)
Think I'll stay around around around
(Around around around around..)
Down in the city just you and me
(Down in the city just you and me..)
Don't I love you so?
Go Go Go Little Queenie
