I think Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy would really be a fun song for Adam to do for the concerts.

Queen (all four members) have a reputation of not being great with the press -- and they earned it. Freddie, god love him was terrible at PR but he was the most interesting member of the band. John did not like to talk to the press. Brian and Roger are the best of the 4, but not great for different reasons. The British press was not very kind to Queen -- particularly from 1982-1991. They were particularly brutal to Freddie and Brian who were usually the PR leads. After Freddie died, the press was nicer but there was really no one to speak with for about 10 years. Queen and the US press - particularly the rock and music press - was a mess. They (and EMI and their US Promo Team) really, really screwed up a lot. Most famously in 1978 with the huge press event for Jazz. Even naming a rock album Jazz demonstrated how little that they understood America and American English. Queen really made many cultural missteps in the US. Coronation Street music video -- why ever would they release that in the US? Playing Sun City -- bad in the UK, devastating in the US. I could go on, and on. From 1991 - 2002 Brian rarely did any interviews -- it is the period he suffered from severe depression and had a breakdown. He talked about it here: www.brianmay.com/brian/magsandpress/dm160502/dm160502.html It was pretty harrowing. The fact that Brian is back and happy and was able to do so much since 2002, including this big tour, is amazing! He is like a cat with nine lives and I think he only has 5 left. ** Adam brings something new to Queen when it comes to PR -- in the US, Canada and most of the world, he has been great with the press and is at a higher level in terms of his ability to be charming, witty and say nothing new but give it a sense of newness vs. most musicians. He also is more "global" partly because he came of age in the connected global world. Thanks Q3!!! This is something that I didn't know about Brian. > www.brianmay.com/brian/magsandpress/dm160502/dm160502.html < After reading this, I respect him even more.

Well if you follow the link in my sig you will see a list of all the albums with links to the entries (like the ones I've been posting)... I would think EARLY albums would mean songs from Queen, Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, A Night At The Opera, and A Day At The Races but translating Brian-ese it could also mean News of the World, Jazz, or The Game too... IT also means: HITS: Keep Yourself Alive, Seven Seas Of Rhye, Killer Queen, Now I'm Here, Bohemian Rhapsody, You're My Best Friend, Somebody To Love INTERESTING: Liar, White Queen, In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited, Stone Cold Crazy, Tenement Funster, Death On Two Legs, Long Away, NOT HITS BUT USUAL SUSPECTS: '39, Love Of My Life, Tie Your Mother Down, I'm In Love With My Car Thanks! So, Love Of My Life wasn't a hit in the US? Cause over here when I was growing up, there was no one who didn't know this song. I mean NO ONE! We were singing it together, waving lighters, we knew all the words, it was huge. Generally, Queen was extremely popular in the US from 1975 through 1981 -- then faded here from a commercial standpoint. they had one Top 40 single after 1981, "Radio Gag Ga" in 1984. Interest surged again after the use of Bohemian Rhapsody in "Wayne's World" (1992) and the release of Classic Queen (greatest hits) in the US and Canada in 1992. >> There are many causes for the decline, but mostly it was the US shifted to R&B based pop music (Madonna/Nile Rodgers, Michael Jackson, etc.) and hip hop, and away from rock and disco. >> Having a gay lead singer in 1982 did not fit the US very well. That has changed now but the "pink ceiling" on US radio was bashed by Adam Lambert in 2009, but it was firmly in place by 1982 with the death of disco. There are some Queen songs that many American's know really well that were not big hits here -- like "Under Pressure" which only charted at #29, but the baseline was sampled in a song, "Ice Ice Baby", that was #1 and everyone knows -- Queen and David Bowie now have songwriting credit for IIB and got a lot of royalties for it. Some other Queen songs got little to no radio airplay but were used on TV or in stadiums and people know them. They did not tour North America from 1982 until the 2005-2006 Q+PR Tour and that was a fan event that got very mixed reviews here, their album got bad reviews in the US. The 2013 performance at iHR was very well received -- I this tour will get excellent reviews. But in so many ways it is a miracle that they are doing this tour of North America, of these venues, mostly sold out, at such premium prices.

The three albums that predate A Night at the Opera. I don't expect them to be too crazy with the setlist and my guess is Brian is referring to "Killer Queen". *** From today's opening post! Here are the songs from the early albums that they performed a lot on tour -- I bolded what I think are the most likely. Queen: Son And Daughter, Keep Yourself Alive, Liar. Plus not released but played on tour "Hangman". Early tour cover and my dream of Adam covering Elvis! "Jailhouse Rock". Not happening but I am from Tupelo! Queen II: Father to Son, Ogre Battle, White Queen, Seven Seas of Rhye, The March of the Black Queen, Sheer Heart Attack: Now I'm Here, Stone Cold Crazy, Flick Of The Wrist, In The Lap Of The Gods, Killer Queen, Bring Back That Leroy Brown I marked it as I did since QPL seems to mar my that way....when they did the 2011 remasters and Deep Cuts Compilations they did it according to 3 eras. Early, Mid, and Late. Early was the first 5 albums. So I figure Brian might be using QPL terminology. I think KQ is as definite as it can be without confirmation
