The singers had strong, high voices—but, “The Voice UK” alumnus, Ricardo Alfonso, deserves special mention for exceptional pipes that will remind you, not of Jackson, but of Freddie Mercury and Adam Lambert! Interesting. He doesn't do badly. His tone reminds me more of Paul Rodgers, tho', than either Freddie or Adam. Two observations: First, that Adam's voice on that clip sounds richer and fuller, with more depth than his, and that is just with a fan video made with a home camera vs. TV production equipment. Second, it's pretty fabulous that Adam is one of the standards they are comparing singers to these days. That's Queen's doing, if you ask me. People usually are afraid to form their own opinion, and need someone authoritative to tell them what to think. Queen, with their legendary late frontman, are an authority on what is good singing. So now people (and especially the media) received a ready-made opinion that Adam is a great singer. Queen so to speak "declared" it, and now the media cements it. I'm surprised though that they mentioned Freddie and Adam together as equals, because becoming a legend is a matter of time. It took many years for Freddie to become the legend he is. That's why the media always says about Adam "he isn't Freddie, but...". Doesn't matter if Adam is a better singer or an equal performer, people need time till they catch up and make someone a legend. Touring with Queen would create a shortcut to this status, I'm sure, but still. |
