Is this the only time Freddie performed WWTLF live? I haven't found any others. But wait - maybe you just want to discuss TSMGO? Sorry I happen to be obsessed with WWTLF. One of the most beautiful ballads ever written. Rock or otherwise. When I listen to Freddie's version of WWTLF I think of all of his die-hard fans who complained that Adam's vibrato sounded like a goat. IMO Freddie's vibrato in this version is more apparent than Adam's just not as consistent, which may be due to the fact that Freddie had no formal training. I just don't get when Freddie's fans insist he did not sing with vibrato, confusing!

I know I am far from objective when it comes to Adam's voice. And before I continue, please understand I have the utmost respect for Freddie as the quintessential frontman. With those caveats, I just had to share that during my initial viewing of the TV preview I had briefly looked away during part of Freddie singing Bo Rhap. They switched to Adam singing the next phrase on the iHeart performance, and my ears immediately perked up to the difference in richness of tone even before my brain clicked that it had to be Adam singing and I looked back at the computer screen. Freddie's tone at that point in the song is more metallic and piercing. Adam's is fuller and rounder, with more of the lower harmonics in the tone. It may be one of the reasons people think Freddie sounds more authentic rock, more raw, while Adam more music theater. Which you prefer is personal. The difference is very noticeable. At least to me. Yes, , I have heard it more and more (the differences) as we have been listening to Talon's tutorial - and sometimes I prefer Adam and sometimes Freddie...just where it catches my emotions is different for different songs and times ... all "seen" thru the heart I guess ...
I'm the opposite. For all Queen songs? I prefer Freddie's voice on them. I used to love George Michael's rendition for Somebody to Love, but I like Adam's version better now than George's. To me Adam is the only singer that can justify singing all those Queen songs. Though if you ask me who I like more to sing these songs, I cannot lie that I like Freddie's better. IDK, maybe because of the power his vocal make it different. I can only imagine to be able to hear that powerful voice in live performance. Though for Who Wants to Live Forever and Somebody to Love, I love both Adam's & Freddie's version equally.
The same thing with Adam, for all Adam's songs I prefer Adam's voice on them. I tried to listen people covered Adam's song, but only few seconds then I stop the YTs. I tried.. really tried but I can't just can't.

I agree that some songs seem to suit Freddie better and some seem to suit Adam better. They are BOTH phenomenal however and any comparison is a truly personal thing. There is one song that is completely Adam's for me however, and that is WWTLF. I play them back to back and Adam's performance chokes me up every single time. His voice just sounds fuller and warmer on this particular song.
Agree.. his version's more emotional and dramatic add to that the haunting Synthesizer and Brian's guitar playing.

It is really funny and a case of differen't strokes for different folks.... I had the exact opposite reaction. I thought the difference was that it was *LESS* rich. I had Freddie's voice that pierces so crystally through me and then all of a sudden it was switched to a very nice but a voice that doesn't quite cut through the bombast of B,R,& J. It comes close and is very pleasing to the ear...but not quite it. BUT that's why I'm the Queen fan here who enjoys Adam while for the most part you are the Adam fans who enjoys Freddie :D And that is why I can't pick! I'll take them both! One of the most wonderful things is that there is finally someone that Brian and Roger seem to love to work with who can sing the later period songs that never were performed live AND can give fans a chance to see this incredible catalog of music performed properly.
Beautiful post Q3- I can only imagine what Brian & Roger feels when they found Adam, a singer who can do the song catalogs and give them the chance to walk that memory lane once again. And off course give a fan like me a chance to see it perform properly or closer to their hey days. And give Adam chances to work with these genius musicians, like Brian & Roger and learn some useful knowledge.

Somebody talked about 'imprinting' on a voice once. I am definitely imprinted on Adams voice. Whenever I hear him sing, especially when I am not expecting it, my whole body just gets a shot of adrenaline (or whatever hormone it might be). If I listen to Freddie, he makes me rock, smile, go 'woaaa that's f*cking brilliant', or just very happy, but I don't get that 'Adam' tingle. Doesn't say anything about Freddie or Adam, but a lot about me .
That's a really good way to see it! All these comparisons or preferences actually don't say anything about Freddie or Adam. It said a lot about the person who has that opinion, including my opinion . Well it's opinion and everybody has them. Doesn't mean other people has to agree with or like them.

One of the most beautiful ballads ever written. Rock or otherwise. Queen with Freddie performed WWTLF during the Magic Tour -- 26 dates....all in 1986. There is audio of most if not all of the performances. Caution: Setlist.com is not accurate for this tour and 6 dates are missing. ETA: Here is a "video" of the audio of the first concert on the Magic Tour. I think it is the first live perfomance. youtu.be/k_VuWLayvhs
