If you are bored waited for QAL -- I recommend checking out the iHR Adam Lambert Showcase Concert, May 15, 2012. It is all on YouTube. I forgot how great this was!

Adam has a very good relationship with iHR. Nice thing to have heading into A3.
He did the iHR showcase concert in 2012, he travelled around to US to do radio stations promotion, but CC still didn't play his songs.
The iHR showcase was great promotion for Trespassing. And Adam was paid to do the radio station concerts. The promo tour is part of selling albums and he will certainly do it again for A3. Yes, the radio stations get an Adam interview, but Adam got a ton of free promotions.
On radio airplay -- BTIKM got some solid support, NCOE also got some airplay -- and CC was the biggest supporter in terms of total spins for both singles.
CC has no issue with Adam, but those two singles really not great and there was no sign of huge interest outside of Adam's core fans. Look at the BTIKM and NCOE sales, YouTube views, streaming media count. Just nothing going to happen with that.
It may be hard to accept but Trespassing is one of many really good albums that did not produce a major single -- anywhere. This was not an issue just with CC or just in the US, it was worldwide. It happens more often than not.

It is not like CC radio stations did not play Adam's music -- it was CC that make WWFM a hit, led by support from Z100 and their CHR hubs. CC stations also supported IIHY.
And it is not like Trespassing's singles broke through all over the world but not in the US.
Sometimes really good songs are not the right song for the moment.

Radio airplay does not always make songs a hit, Look at Phillip Phillip's current single, "Raging Fire". It is getting airplay but not selling very much. That is after two platinum singles -- one of which is 5xP.

The bigger mysteries about US Radio are actually songs like "Radio Ga Ga" -- which was #1, #2, #3 all over the world and #16 in the US. It was #3 in Canada. So why wasn't it a hit in the US? Is US taste in music that different than Canada? Queen hadn't made a real impact in the US since 1981 (ABTD). They had a minor hit with "Body Language" in 1982 and alienated a lot of US Rock DJs and PDs. The US radio edit was 4:30 -- and many US stations refused to play a song that long in 1984 -- but beyond that, why not?
But the biggest this was competition. Look at the top 20 songs from 1984 -- and I think that was the biggest issue. So much great music in 1984.
1 "When Doves Cry" Prince
2 "What's Love Got to Do with It" Tina Turner
3 "Say Say Say" Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson
4 "Footloose" Kenny Loggins
5 "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)" Phil Collins

The year end charts give a really good picture of what the big songs are and are often a better measure of popularity over time than peak position. Both CLTCL and AOBTD hit #1 in the US but CLTCL was far more popular on radio and ABTD sold more.
1975: #78 "Killer Queen" peaked at #12 but was long-lived, similar to WWFM
1976: #18 "Bohemian Rhapsody" would be higher if there was a 20 year chart. 4× Platinum, peaked at #2 in 1991.
1977: #88 "Somebody to Love"
1978: #25 "We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions" US Platinum
1980: #6 "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" US Gold
1981: #65 "Another One Bites the Dust" US PlatinumIt is unusual for an artist/band to be so successful over 7 years, and have two #1 songs, than fade away in the US. It is one of the great label misplays.
BTW Adam has one song on the 2010 BB year end Hot 100 chart
2010: #45 "Whataya Want from Me" peaked at #10.
I expect the Adam list to grow!
