To each their own, but I tend to resemble nica. I go to a concert to see and hear the performance and singing along, if I could even hear myself sing, would interfere with what I was listening to. I want to take in every auditory nuance. It's probably our classical background. Can you imagine singing along to an operatic aria? The only sing-along in classical music I am familiar with is audience participation Hallelujah Choruses. Please note: This is NOT a criticism of anyone who dances, sings, shouts, and jumps up and down during a concert. I get that enthusiasm. The only cardinal rules: 1. Don't jump up and down and spill your drink on me. 2. Don't, absolutely DON'T talk during a performance. You want to talk? Go out in the hallway.Yep = this x 100. Nothing at a concert bugs me more than people talking during the performance. Is just rude. Yeah....they will get the 'Adam stare' if they do! You know the one!!

Of course you are not the only one! I learned to stand up but I also need to be quiet and preferably motionless while listening. I don't even understand how yelling or singing along can be enjoyable - wouldn't you just hear yourself? I understand about the "energy" exchange expected at a pop/rock event, but I can't contribute to it myself...I just absorb...so, ya, I prefer a classical concert setting to any of this, but Adam, and Adam only, gets me to these noisy events ... I don't have a classical music background, but am with you on the bolded parts and tend to absorb more of the performance if I'm quiet and not dancing around.. okay maybe a little movement to the music, but not full on dancing. I think it depends on your personality whether you tend to be more of an introvert or extrovert, but imo neither is better than the other and doesn't truly reflect on how deeply someone is enjoying a performance..

I'm definitely in the stand up and sing along camp though. I like to go to a concert to be part of the experience, and that includes standing, singing and screaming! But no talking And no shrieking during a quiet song, I promise!

I came to hear the artist not some random person singing next to me - I mean you might have a great voice and all (but unfortunately usually not)... now if the artist wants a sing-a-long whole different thing, go for it. Different people different things that make something meaningful for them so it's all good. I've been spoilt lately with shows I've attended and has been years since I have been to an arena show so will be an experience I am sure.

I think Adam prefers responsive, energized audience, interacting with him in all the right places. But boy do I hate when I can't hear him in videos over the chatter! I still can't get over the fact that that bit of Wildest Moments that we have is ruined. And that that guy who said he'd share, hadn't! (i am positive that there is a way of saying all this without using 'that' 10,000 times, but it is beyond me)
