'Gelly @14gelly 7m A MUST READ / Queen Is Back With Adam Lambert On Vocals - News - Bubblews www.bubblews.com/news/3849452-queen-is-back-with-adam-lambert-on-vocals … #bubblews' Queen Is Back With Adam Lambert On Vocals Submitted by The_Observationinst on June 17th, 2014 – Category: Music Over the past decade or so, Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen have gone back on the road as Queen. At first they got Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Company) to front the band, and recently they got American Idol star Adam Lambert to sing. In both cases, original bassist John Deacon decided to stay home. As a fan of Freddie Mercury, I was against the idea of this band coming back. I understand that bands get new lead singers. The Doors even tried this, though it wasn't a success. How do you replace Jim Morrison? AC/DC was able to come back with Brian Johnson after the death of Bon Scott. It's still not the same to me, but it was doable because AC/DC wasn't quite as big as The Doors or Queen. You don't replace a guy like Freddie. So much of Queen was Freddie, and he overshadowed that band at times. That's saying something, because Brian, Roger and John are all amazing musicians. So, I've been saying, call it Brian and John and the music of Queen if you must. I understand that they want to tour. They made great music together and they still play very well. I also get that Adam Lambert is very talented, and a part of me said that if they were gonna do it, he is an excellent choice. Well, I have to say this is an understatement. Adam is amazing on vocals, and I get it now. I just watched Queen on an I Heart Radio concert through Yahoo, and Adam is perfect for this band. His voice fits in so well with this band that at times I thought I was listening to Freddie. He is that good. Make no mistake, he's no Freddie, but he's good. This is the perfect way to introduce a whole new generation to the amazing catalog of music that Queen created for nearly two decades. I can't help but think Freddie would approve of this. In a set that couldn't have been much longer than 30 minutes, they played We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions, Crazy Little Thing Called Love and Another One Bites The Dust. But Adam's vocals on Under Pressure, which he sang with Taylor, were amazing. They even pulled out a song from Freddie's solo career, Love Kills from the remake of the movie Metropolis. This may be Freddie's best solo song, in my opinion. Well, Adam nailed the vocals on that song too. I had goose bumps listening to him sing it. Queen, featuring Adam Lambert, will be a good show from start to finish, and their U.S. Tour is about to begin. What is happening here is the next best thing to having Freddie up there singing. The only thing I think the guys could do to make this better would be to get John back on board. They wanted him, but it's up to him to come back.

First, that video of Brian on the roof of Buckingham Palace made my heart stir- what a moment that must have been for him.
Confession time- I am as excited to see Brian May play as I am about Adam!! Don't stone me, he's always been my favorite guitarist ever- he simply makes that thing cry. And as a man I am just in love with him.
Second, I have to wonder if John Deacon snuck in a listen to iHeart, or to anything over the past few years. Such a crazy talented guy... I miss him badly.
See you guys in Chicago tomorrow night!

FYI this is another one of those anyone can post content site. And this one is really not a well written "review" (using the term loosely). It also has errors in it (aka is Brian and Roger not Brian and John)... And just not impressed with inclusion of the hated phrase "he's no Freddie but..." In fact would be happy never to hear that again (although I suspect I might have to suck it up deal on that one).

Funny, I actually don't mind "he's no Freddie..." as long as people are able to admit that he is a stellar vocalist. I thought it would really bug me. I can't appreciate when others sing his songs.. or heck there are some from Idol that I can't get past (Feeling Good with the exception of Nina Simone). So I get it. Thankfully many of the skeptical people have quieted down.. so I'm good. Hang in there its going to be a long summer.

They are two different human beings who both have an extraordinary voice and incredible stage presence. I guess this is the only way those purists could get themselves over with the fact that Adam actually did a fantastic job and they actually enjoyed the show. To maintain their pureness, they have to "dis" Adam in some way. I get it, really. So let them have it. The rest of us, we enjoyed the show, we enjoyed the music, we enjoyed Brain and Roger rocking on that stage, and most importantly, we enjoyed the awesomeness of ADAM LAMBERT! Anyway, the tour starts tomorrow!!! You guys who are lucky enough to go and see them live, have a great time!!! Hopefully there will be youtube vids for me to watch later. If not, I will just sit here and read all your excitement and recaps. This is gonna be GOLD

'Gelly @14gelly 17m Katy Perry launches record label, Metamorphosis Music gu.com/p/3q7ze/tw via @guardian / Ferras penning songs for Adam Lambert"' Adam's part: ...Metamorphosis released Ferras's subsequent self-titled EP on Tuesday. Its highlight is the lead single and duet with Perry titled Legends Never Die. Although Ferras is vaunted as a songwriter, penning songs for Adam Lambert and Ricky Martin, Legend Never Die was written with two other people, including Dark Horse co-writer Sarah Hudson.... Before anyone gets to thinking that they mean currently writing for Adam I just want to point out that he was co-writer on Aftermath so I think they are only referring to that. Although it is quite possible that he's written with Adam again.

I've come to realize that more often than not the "he's no Freddie" comment is self protective on the part of the commenter or writer. They are afraid that if they don't clarify that Freddie is the one and only they will be seen as betraying Freddie. It's almost like a vocal tic at this point, kind of a blanket disclaimer to excuse the "heresy" of actually being impressed by Adam. You have to start with the necessary obeisance to the legend before you can continue your evaluation of the present.
