For me, Adam has the power and the vocals and the stage presence to make the tour contain the magic Brian and Roger demand for it. I think Brian and Roger trust he can deliver for them, and the reviews seem to support that most people agree. But I also think that a major part of what Adam brings to the table for B and R is all of his phenomenal ENERGY-- his physical energy, his energy on stage, his stamina, his work/practice energy, the FUN of his energy and his positive personal interaction energy. People who work with Adam love working with him because of that. Many singers/front men are "no Adam" in that way.
It is hard to generate all of the energy an extended tour demands day after day without the right mix of personalities, especially as you get older, when no matter how much energy you have, you still don't have quite the same levels of energy you had in your maximum energy years. Adam infuses Brian and Roger with energy. (He infuses me with it as well, lol.). They drink his blood, as they joke. He gives them new life, energy-wise. Creatively, there is nothing better than working with someone who is a catalyst for that. That energy plus that talent- that is why there IS a tour. As a fan, I am grateful for that. No wonder the atmosphere is one of joy. lynne - you are so right about the energy and interaction with the others. I saw somewhere today a series of gifs of Adam doing just that. Wish I could find them to share because they were such fun (sorry about the bad memory). However, I did run across a set of pictures I had skipped over - and they are fabulous, so I will repost the link. Something to do while we wait for the show to start... judys.smugmug.com/Queen-Adam-Lambert-Chicago/i-PVp2xsq/A

I want to say thank you to Talon and Q3 for all of the education about Queen. I had grown up hearing Queen, but cant say that I was that interested in them until I heard Adam was about to collaborate with them. Now I have to say I am a HUGE Queen fan and have so much love and respect for Freddie Mercury....what a phenomenal talent. I love his voice and style, and after reading the most recent biography, I got to know more about him. So I understand those who feel that no one will ever compare, and the sadness and upset they might feel when they see a young upstart singing with Brian and Roger. Having said that, I am all about Adam Lambert and always will be. The FLD doesn't bother me as long as people acknowledge the difficult job that Adam is doing. Can you imagine the balls of steel it took to consider singing with Queen for even a few shows, knowing that you will inevitably be compared to one of the greatest front men to ever live? An upstart who is American and came out of a reality TV show, too, as Talon mentioned. I am in awe of what Adam has done with this opportunity and how difficult it must have been for him those first few concerts. His courage and confidence in his skills combined with his humble demeanor is just remarkable. I am so proud to be a fan.
There will always be haters. Someone once said that the more popular an artist becomes, the more haters come out of the woodwork. It doesn't matter to me if everyone doesn't like Adam the way I do. Adam and Queen seem to be having a joyous time together putting on these spectacular SOLD OUT shows. They are doing what they love at the highest level of skill. They can laugh at these haters all the way to the bank.
I'm very grateful to everyone here for the excellent conversation, education, and plain old fun that goes on every day. I am grateful for all those who take the pictures and videos at the concerts to share with all of us. I'm grateful that Brian and Roger selected Adam to sing with them. Seeing Adam for the first time in concert in Philly will be a bucket list item for me; the fact that he is with the magnificent Queen makes it even more than I could ever have imagined. I'll be ready.
Thanks, everyone!

Also posted in Chicago Concert Thread... Queen reigns in Chicago concertExcerpt: Singer Adam Lambert at the helm, this time around, as lead singer, proved he has the vocal talent to handle Queen's signature songs. I'm sure most fans in the house enjoying the show didn't expect Lambert to step into the iconic shoes of the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. And "American Idol" finalist Lambert smartly never attempted to do that. He simply gave his strong, passionate and honest unique delivery to the best of Queen's material and soared on his own. With his theatrics, dramatic flair and ability to hit impressive high notes, Lambert was the perfect performer to delve into tunes such as "Killer Queen," "Another One Bites the Dust," "Under Pressure," and "The Show Must Go On."
