Just a comment...cuz I thought the Merriweather show was fabulous. That final shot of Brian when everyone has exited the stage and he turns back and raises his guitar - GAH!! It killed me then, and it kills me to watch it on the clip...the man is so adorably humble - and seriously, he has every right to be a pompous ass considering his body of work! My daughter has fallen in love with Light of My Life. She was playing and replaying a Freddie/Brian version all night. It's cool that the younger generation is (re)discovering Queen. (also wanted to add that our experience with the venue was exceptional...took the hotel shuttle which was a godsend and mistakenly lined up at the the VIP entrance (we weren't VIP but the nice young girl let us stay . Bought a couple of those 14 buck Margaritas which were really boozy and yummy, wandered about and then sat in our seats and people watched. I loved the place and wouldn't hesitate to see another concert there! Drive TO Columbia from NJ was hellious though - what should have been 3 hours was close to 5 and we were detoured through the sketchiest bowels of Baltimore - as I said before, daughter and I weren't even speaking to each other by the time we arrived at the hotel! Haha! Follow that up with a 10 hour drive yesterday down to our place in Myrtle Beach in torrential rain...and I'm just happy to staying put for a few days) off topic completely now...we missed our exit off I-95 because of the ridiculous rain and ended up in the middle of nowhere, South Carolina, driving aimlessly for hours. I wanted to stop for gas at the first little no-name "station" I saw - not gonna lie, I was starting to panic. Daughter says "no freakin' way! I've seen the movies - the crazy guy working there pumps your gas and then calls up the local lunatic killer to let him know you're driving through town! I'm not stopping!!!!" Haha! We got to civilization on gas fumes. There are just no kind words for the I-95 corridor between NY and, let's say, Fredericksburg, VA (especially on a Sunday). Make that all the way up into CT where Mohegan Sun is located off of I-95. And traffic on I-95 was even worse on a Friday afternoon.

I bet they will smokeyvera. Sorry viewing wqs difficult. I have way back seats at AC but it should be fun anyway. Happycat, I was in the Pavillion, had decent seats, but had to watch it all on the monitors. U lose a lot of the effect, and had tall peeps in front of me. I was totally enraptured with it all and thoroughly enjoyed Brian's solos and Rufus and Roger and Spike. I was a puddle of wet goo, as it was so hot under the tarp. Fortunately I drank lots of water and didn't have to pee once, since I sweat it out. thank goodness.
There was one point when Adam hit some high notes, and I thought gosh that was flat. It was the guy behind me singing. LOL
All I know there were gasps and laughter when the leopard and crown appeared. Glad they all realized the campiness of it all.

Cassie thx for this. A dream would be if you could write up an analysis of the QAL songs (maybe the most notable ones) in the masterclass thread. Like the key, range and high and low notes per song but just one example for each song. So maybe the WATC when he did that ultra high note at the end, not from the other shows. And we can post to the masterclass thread our nominated vids for each song including the call and responses. The best of the best during the whole span of tour. So it's a lot to even ask and you can totally tell me to sod off! While the tech stuff doesn't register with me live, I like reading analytics later on. Funny you should ask. Four years ago I did something a little similar with GNT. I was a newbie to Planet Fierce and posted with some trepidation, but got lots of support. It would be fun to try something like that again. He has grown so much vocally, which is amazing considering how skilled he was to start with. I will put out a call for recommendations in the daily thread. Awesome thank you! And kvk thx for your recap. Glad you have fun, and post or lurk away!

Hi Cassie, If you're still here I've been really wanting to ask you a question. I loved the venue at MSG but had a lot of trouble with Adam's voice. His singing and speaking sounded really high and chirpy to me, honestly to the point where I didn't enjoy a couple of the songs, but I didn't hear it when Freddie or Brian sang. At Merriweather he sounded amazing to me, much deeper tone and didn't seem to be overpowered by the instruments. I don't know what was going on if it was me or the sound system, any thoughts? Thanks... and I love reading all your informative info you share. almost certainly the sound system. Seems like they didn't/couldn't properly balance the different frequencies and lost the lower ones, leaving or amplifying the high ones. I remember reading someone saying that they talked to someone with the tour who said there were serious sound issues with MSG.

Thanks Cassie, I knew it couldn't be Adam since I never hear it in the videos, was worried that something in my ears just wasn't working on those high notes...relieved it's the sound system

this is my first post- i have been lurking for some time now . My sister in Texas introduced me to this forum and is also a lurker lol. Have been following Adam since idol, when my daughter then in high school pointed him out cuz she thought he was good looking! Saw Glamnation tour with my 2 daughters, my texas sister and other friends and family 1x in CT. Had seats way too far back! Was a Queen hits fan but listened everyday to all songs Queen and studying Q3 and talon posts in preparation!! I went to the QAL concert at MPP with a friend of mine (Adam fan-always thought he should sing with Queen, Glee fan, not so much of his own music tho) my 2 daughters (20 & 22 yo) The 20 yo is a metal fan but likes Adam since idol but likes rock Adam, also loves Brians guitar playing and that he is an astrophysicist-she is a bit of a science nerd herself, and 22 yo (was the high schooler during idol) loves all sides of Adam, glee everything. My daughters had standing GA tickets with a friend of theirs and i had bought 2 VIP tickets- front row- my husband was the one to convince me to spend the money, he was going with me until a few weeks ago when he got training away for 5 weeks. Almost fainted when i saw the catwalk and thrust right in front of my seat! Met DancyGeorgia who sat next to me. I was so excited and nervous! The seats could not have been any better! The anticipation was thrilling. When the music started and Adam came out i said to my friend that i couldnt believe we were there! I have to say the sound of Adam's voice (and at time Brians) had that chipmunk effect to me, my friend couldnt tell but she doesn't listen to all his videos like i do. It was better when they were singing in the thrust but i have to say having Adam sooo close i really didn't care how he sounded or if he just stood there because he is more beautiful in real life -i was overwhelmed . I don't know how many times i said to my friend how gorgeous and hot he looked up close!! I asked DancyGeorgia after the concert about how he sounded and she said people hear him differently and that it was the best sound of all the concerts, so not really sure what that means re: my ears lol. Been watching the videos and they all sound normal to me- oh well- it was awesome all around and well worth every penny i spent! Stood most of the time (had also picked front row so i could sit if needed-bad back) but found myself standing- i wanted to be as close and involved as possible!! My friend thought the concert was awesome and Adam was gorgeous and great in this role. My daughters thought it was great also, my metal daughter took tons of pics of Brian! I think i am rambling- feeling the same excitement all over again writing this!! The venue was easier to access than i thought, had some logistic concerns with the hills and all with my bad back, but managed ok- weather could have been way worse for this time of year! thats it! i am nervous to post this Great first post kvk and a great recap. Just so you don't feel so alone, I want you to know that I hear chipmunk Adam at least 80% of the time. Videos just sound different. This has never stopped me from going to an Adam concert because, like you, I just soak up his presence and charisma. I am pretty sure that I could stare at him for hours. I have often wondered if some of the bad reviews are because the person hears Adam this way and doesn't bother to do any other research. I feel sorry for a reviewer that has chipmunk ears but no sympathy for someone who doesn't do their due diligence.

A Queen fan replied to the Washington Post critic: RedRover 7/21/2014 7:46 PM EDT First: point of disclosure: I have seen Queen in 70's (US Air Arena) and with Paul Rogers, as well as seeing Q-Extravaganza and We Will Rock You broadway show, and am a poor basement guitarist of all things Queen. Simply put, a huge fan. I too agree with most posters re: the sum of the show -- it was terrific! I would not have said "Lambert 'leads' Queen" though. True, he "sang" Queen, but Brian was and continues to be the "lead"er of this band in the post-Freddie era. The songs followed his guitar lead through and through. You go "Red Special"!! I can't understand ANYone who opines either that Lambert can't sing (must be haters) or the show is somehow less because he is not (and never will be) F Mercury. To those who claim Lambert can't sing, can YOU hit those notes?! Can you deliver song after song?! Can you do better?! I think not. Lambert is a force in his own right. He has a phenomenal delivery, tone, and pitch. Get over it. He is a uniquely talented singer, and now, as we saw last night, a showman too, although I was a little put off by his use of cursing, which I found juvenile. All of his banter between songs was obviously scripted to some degree and I wish that part of the act were cleaned up. McKenna -- if there were a better received concert this year, with iconic band, iconic songs, and unparalleled lead trio (Brian, Roger, Adam) I would love to know about it. p.s. as for the bass solo, I saw it as a tribute (a nod) to John Deacon and his influence on the band. It was shorter than both the drum solos and the May way-too-long solo, the only halfway-lag of the whole show. But taken in context, I would see it again tomorrow!! As for that interminable line outside, I heard that Ticketmaster mistakenly printed 6:30 on the tickets when in fact that was the gate-opening time, and not the start time of 8:15. That doesn't get MPP off the hook for making us queue up and certainly for lack of info on-site. Poor job, MPP.

I'm new here and this is my first post. I just recently got introduced to this forum through a friend.
About Bohemian Rhapsody. I took my whole family to the concert in LA and my two kids (18 and 21 yrs old) thought that Bohemian Rhapsody was the absolute highlight of the show. My son even tweeted about it. (Radio Gaga was a close second for them).
