I took affront to the "bland" description also. I'm not going to go back and reread the review so I'll paraphrase the part where I took particular exception -- when he wrote that not only did Adam come to us via a reality TV show BUT he didn't even have the chops to win it. F**k him. I still say we should link the comments to Adam's Wiki page so at least people who may be interested can read what really has happened before Queen. You're right. Forget the bland comment. That reality show putdown was the worst.

Really Adam Lambert voice does not stand out? So I am presuming he missed his run on Idol, his voice stood out their. Or what about the Ama's his voice definitely stood out their lol. I am not much of a fan of Paul Rodgers not very familiar. But Adam Lambert is widely known, even universally I would dare say for his unique voice. It is almost become a distinction, that anyone today saying anyone is better even vocally better then Freddie is absurd, it is not pc to say that. But really bland and does not stand out? Watching the YT vids, his voice is like a siren, the question should be it stands out too much haha. Is it that the way it is now, legends have their time in history, so no one can possibly create their own legacy. Freddie well always be the centre of any review, but this is not about him I dare say/ Not sure why people still need to qualify Adams talent, by then saying "he is no Freddie", really I thought he was haha I mean why is their a need for that, Freddie was not the only great singer.

Vocals aside, one area that I think Freddie surpasses Adam is fan engagement. Freddie was a master at getting the crowd involved and energized. Adam has improved in this area but his attempts still seem a little stiff and forced. Since this skill is a big part of being a frontman, I can understand how some continue to say Adam is not yet at Freddie's level, (although I would hope they can acknowledge that Adam is bringing his own talents to the table). Bottomline, QAL are putting on a great show and despite the FLD preface, I didn't hear any negative comments about Adam at the two shows I attended and it certainly seemed like a good time was had by all.

Q3 said: "but I would love to read a review of this concert, not a comparison with the past." and "Adam is getting mostly great reviews and I have learned to take it with a lump of salt. After 5+ years I have learned people love him or not. Does not matter to me that much what reviewers write." As much as I love Queen's music (and most of the original singing, although not all ), I sometimes wish this collaboration had not happened. It is a constant "comparison" which provokes the need on one side or the other to defend. I fully understand that the world of music lovers has its opinions and certainly the right and opportunity to express them - that's what makes it interesting. But it just keeps on keeping on. Along with the endless reality show, Idol runner up, openly gay, flamboyant, and all the other buzz words that start that whole back and forth off again. So I avoid reviews and comments on reviews. Life is too short. I love the "new" that Adam is bringing to the music because I think music should live, not die so as to preserve it for all eternity. But please, please, powers that be -------- Bring on A3 soon!!!!!!! I need that sooooooo bad. Sorry for the rant - it's been a long week.

I sometimes feel the same. And that's why I admire Adam so much. If it was me in his shoes, I don't think I could cope with all those negativity and comparisons. If those reviews upset us so much, imagine how much would upset him as he's the one put his soul and heart on that stage for every single show! And he knew he would get those long before he agreed to this gig. This man is so brave. And for that only, I will always bow down to him. And yes, can't wait for A3!!! I need more new music from the man I love!

I would not get too agonized over the Georgia straight review. But I was interested in learning a bit more about the author -- to try to see his perspective. He was a Queen fan when he was a kid from 1974-1976. He saw them live in 1977. www.straight.com/blogra/666686/70s-rock-freaks-rejoice-queens-first-live-album-be-released He is not some Freddie fanatic but rather a classic rock fan, which makes him a fan of a more traditional approach to rock vocals, like Paul Rodgers. Here is the writer's bio....and it explains a lot. He is a classic rock, blues and metal fan. Considering his basic mindset, Adam was probably not his "cup of tea". Too bad cause they both like skull jewelry. He is also a massive Paul Rodgers fan. Paul Rodgers, the world's best guy at going "Whoa-yeaah!", plays Richmond tonightby Steve Newton on Jun 26, 2014 at 3:17 pm www.straight.com/blogra/674811/paul-rodgers-worlds-best-guy-going-whoa-yeaah-plays-richmond-tonightWe all have different tastes and perspectives -- and his is clear. *** I am a bit older than this writer, I was a Queen fan longer -- and did not stay fixated on the early rock albums but evolved with them and like their whole catalog -- not just the early rock tracks. My life is richer for it.
