Can I ask a question here because I'm seeing it more and more. It's been seeming more and more because of the annoyance of FLD or whatever that now if a reviewer says that Freddie was better that the only reason that could be is that they don't want to admit that Adam is better? Can't it honestly be that someone just thinks Freddie has something that Adam doesn't? I mean I know I think that way. I know many here think the opposite. I also know that I've highly enjoyed the collaboration. I've also enjoyed the conversation here and I know I'm on an AL site so maybe I should just shut up....but for some reason it's bothered me. I don't even mind people saying they like Adams renditions better than Freddie because that's opinion but the thought that Freddie being better is not a legitimate opinion is just limiting. In fact implants to go into these concerts hoping and pretty much knowing I.m going to love it...but I know that if I think in my head that Adam is phenomenal but he is still not the one I want to be hearing right now, it won't be simply that I can't accept it. Am I making sense? Am I missing something? Talon I understand where you are coming from and I don't really approach Adam and Freddie as a contest of 'whose better' etc. They are two different very talented artists and I can appreciate what each brings to the table. I happened to feel they each in their own bad ass amazing way bring me joy, fun, and happiness as they entertain the heck out of me. I just happened to get more joy, fun, and happiness listening to the amazing Mr. Lambert. But I truly loved Freddie and his charisma on stage. Freddie's voice doesn't touch me like Adam's but I would never consider Freddie to have a BLAND voice. But when I read a line like this from this guy's article, "But the openly gay singer's flamboyant performing style, charming audience interaction, and heavily accessorized glam-rock look went a long way toward making up for the relative blandness of his voice."
Blandess of his voice? Seriously? Because Adam didn't have enough rock edgesiness' in his voice for this guy ...he calls Adam bland? I do have a problem with that. Stuff like that just makes me lose any feeling that this guy listened with an unbiased ear. And now because of his 'blandness' comment I, unfortunately, don't give much creditability to what he says. AFL might be many different things but Bland in any form is definitely NOT Adam. Adam lives every song he sings with passion and feeling and it could be seen in every thing he did on stage and in that giant Q!
I understand that everyone is different in their liking of an artist's work. I'm fine with that but sometimes 'objectivity' can get lost and saying Adam's VOICE is bland is one of these times for me. JMHO
I love that you are here Talon and we can all have discussions like this with each other. It helps me understand Queen fans better.

Thanks for the responses. To be fair, I must admit that I hadn't read that specific review before commenting....so I hadn't seen the "bland" part. I fully agree that Adam isn't bland . And Cassie yes I can see that because my gene is exactly the opposite and I get that same "red sky" feeling.... Q3...I can completely understand wanting to read a review that didn't talk about the past but I don't see it forthcoming. Freddie will always loom in this setting. Perhaps less if QAL make an album...but Freddie is too strongly a part of Queen and this is coming from someone who knows full well how important B&R (&J!)'s contributions were/are.

I thought this was from a recent concert but Sophie corrected me that its from Apollo in London. Thanks you. I'll still keep it here since it is such a great pic of Adam and the crowd. Mods feel free to delete if you think it shouldn't be here. This was taken on June 22nd. Great pic! Must be Radio Ga Ga. I believe that photo was taken on the July 12, 2012 Hammersmith Apollo concert in London.

Adam is getting mostly great reviews and I have learned to take it with a lump of salt. After 5+ years I have learned people love him or not. Does not matter to me that much what reviewers write. I would rather see the audience having a great time -- which they are.

I took affront to the "bland" description also. I'm not going to go back and reread the review so I'll paraphrase the part where I took particular exception -- when he wrote that not only did Adam come to us via a reality TV show BUT he didn't even have the chops to win it. F**k him. I still say we should link the comments to Adam's Wiki page so at least people who may be interested can read what really has happened before Queen.

You know, maybe we shouldn't blame this poor reviewer. Maybe he really couldn't hear how rich and fab Adam's voice sounded. Poor thing! Not only could he not really enjoy great music and singing like many of us could, but also he wrote a review to prove that point... Let's show some sympathy to him, shall we?
