Andrea ♥ @powderpuffnails 56m .@adamlambert You are STUNNING, I love you
It looks like the strap that holds the spiky fringy thing on has given way here ... maybe that's why he took the fringes off part way through? Perhaps someone who was at the concert can explain this. **** In Chicago,, I was right next to the couch. I could not understand what Adam was doing with that Bottle of Champagne but after the next concert I figured it out. There was a prop error -- the bottle was supposed to be uncorked. Watch his face when he picks up the bottle and sees the cork. Starts around 1:50. youtu.be/zHA9YvA3l-E

I find it amazing, given it's just one of many, many recordings...

[Mostly OT, so scroll away!]
Just wanted to drop off this link to a NYTimes article that discusses something we've bumped against, happily or not so happily, repeatedly over the years, so I thought it might interest some of you. It's discussing "Vicious," a new PBS series (new to PBS, that is--it's in its second season in the UK) starring Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi as two older men who are longtime partners, and the complaints that the representations of gays in the series are too stereotypical. This is something Adam, as an occasionally dangerously "fabulous" man, has had to contend with from the start (we just saw it come up again in that blog post about Adam vs. Sam Smith), and it's something that he's repeatedly talked about thoughtfully (such as here , and here). How does someone who is in a very real way breaking down barriers for a whole community handle the fact that if he's true to himself, he doesn't always represent that community in the way it wants to be, or feels it needs to be, represented? [Brad Bell has written about this, too. In some ways even more than Adam, perhaps, he has to dovetail his naturally "swishy and witty" (to borrow his own "stereotypical" language) personality with his own goals of using his cultural status to advance the cause of equality. In a way, that's precisely what "Husbands," which I've watched only some of, is about. As Brad puts it here, addressing the gay stereotype in Hollywood controversy, "frankly, many of us are swishy and witty. And many of us aren't. (Poor things.) Since femininity and cleverness aren't negative qualities -- no, really, they're not -- they're likely not the problem here."] To make this all a little more current, I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see Adam play the "Killer Queen" nightly in front of 15,000 people. Just watch him proudly strike those poses. You betta believe that song means something to him personally.

I find it interesting that none of the critics have written about Adam's reinterpretation or this song. Freddie said it was about it, "It's about a high class call girl. I'm trying to say that classy people can be whores as well. That's what the song is about, though I'd prefer people to put their interpretation upon it – to read into it what they like." I think it is pretty clear that Adam has a different meaning of Queen in mind. And clearly Freddie would approve of the reinterpretation!

Sorry about this. But ever since someone coined the term "thrusties" to describe Adam's highly unique choreography for "Fat Bottomed Girls," this is the image I've been thinking of. (I just had to create it!) P.S. Photo credit to tinafea

Adam Lambert And Queen Rock Vancouver, Adam Makes Sure To Celebrate Pride
I have been waiting for really pretty, official photos from the Adam Lambert and Queen tour ever since it started.
And since the photo gods have been kind today (Orlando and Matt already? Yes!), they answered my prayers with some Adam and Queen! The band gave a stellar performance this weekend in Vancouver, Canada, and we’ve got the photos to prove it. Although, we don’t actually need photos to prove it. I mean, you can’t go wrong with Adam and Queen. You just can’t.
I am obsessed with the costume Adam wears on this tour. The cheetah print (that is cheetah, right? Or is it leopard? I can’t actually tell the difference) is so him, and pairing it with that crown? It’s just too much perfection for me to handle. The boys had a few days off after their show on Saturday, so Adam took that time to celebrate Pride. I assume he was in San Francisco since he Tweeted this photo. (Pic of Adam and Rufus)
I know, I’m like Sherlock Holmes over here with my cleverness. Well California, get excited! Because Queen and Adam are coming for us this week. And if all goes as planned, I’ll be seeing them perform on July 3–again! Launch the gallery to check out all the photos from their show in Vancouver. Who has gotten to see them already? Is it magical? Leave us your reviews in the comments!
