I haven't watched/heard all the vids fr Vegas#2 but from the few I've seen, I think i prefer Vegas#1 for Adam's performance over Vegas#2. Watching the vids (even with the on/off/on again stream) of Vegas#1 brought me to tears. Vegas#2 not as much. Ok also testing my new avi, since nearly everyone is adopting a pic fr this outstanding Tour! Many people on my twitter feed said Vegas #2 "blew the first night away". They haven't explained why and I don't see much difference in the videos. Both nights looked fantastic! Maybe it's just that the more you see it the more you love it? If myspenser is here maybe she can explain because I'm curious. The 2nd night was better because I was sitting 4 rows from stage & several times Adam was singing not 10 feet in front of me But the light show was really awesome the 1st night from the balcony! Waiting for my plane home. I am so hopelessly behind in reading both Adamtopia & Twitter. But I need to finish processing audio for 3 concerts, so no way to catch up soon.

Yes! Mike 6Pack is his real name, he loves the color blue. I've changed it to mic in later installments but that just seems so racist? Whenever I say I think I'm channeling Sylvester Stallone and I don't know that makes any kind of sense.

As to melismas? That's just the fancy term for runs or riffs on a single syllable. Some of Adam's are pretty crazy difficult. When he was on Idol he admittedly added glory notes and riffs to stand out and get attention. He hasn't abandoned that practice completely. He does like to be the center of attention and to cause collective gasps. Because he CAN, while most others can't. To my musical ear, most of his riffs have an interpretive purpose.
For me, WATC as originally written, falls flat on the last phrase. The song evokes such power and passion, and then delivers a very lackluster last few notes. Adam takes the ending of the song to church! Reminds me of an old time Southern gospel preacher stirring the congregation into choruses of "AMENs!" and "HALLELUJAH!s" His runs are the capital letters, bold face fonts and exclamation points to the statement "We are the champions of the world."

Throwing in my two cents worth....i think if most of us really liked...or preferred...that gritty voice, we would not be fans of Adam Lambert....that is not what he does best, pure and simple. Freddie wasn't that gritty as a general rule either was he? That is not how I heard him.... That said, I don't get the appeal of Stone Cold Crazy, tbh. In fact, the whole opening sequence is not my favourite, but that is me. I hardly really hear Adam in SCC...it is mostly cacophony with a compelling base sound periodically....hiding behind that blue couch now. I feel like he almost has to 'yell' to be heard over the instruments and I personally don't care for that....guess that is the downside to having all those amazing instrumentalists and to the rock genre as a whole....everyone wants their piece of the audience's ears... IMHO I can't tell you what to like but I LOVE the rock opening...usually. It's frantic yes, and it is a great cacophony. It's pure power. I love the hard edge to the music, it's a big part of rock and roll. I know some of you love the classically trained voice and I understand his desire to protect it...and much of the rest of you vein to the pop side of pop rock where as the opening tracks are definitely more on the rock side... The studio version definitely...i wouldn't say falls flat - it was musically playing with the undefined ending. Live Freddie finished off quite well imo but the AMENs and HALLELUJAHS were more from the music. Different interpretation which is fine and Adam is definitely welcome to have his own interpretation...just as i'm welcome to prefer it without the runs Different strokes for different folks!

It sounds like a lot of Atoppers landed really great seats for this tour. So, what is it like seeing Adam in 3D and up close and personal? Was there anything that surprised you? Something that you didn't pick up in all the pictures?

Hey Cassie I always love the way you talk about voices. I agree about the taking to church thing-love the way Adam does that on STL. Didn't he even do an Amen thing in Vegas? He's taken that song to new heights and it was already freakin' great.
Not to be stubborn. But will rethink after experiencing WATC live. Sacrilegious but am kind of tired of WWRY/WATC so that may be part of it. Whereas I LOVE the opening, harder sound of NIH and SCC. I also think it's a talented frontman who can bop around while the band is going crazy. I've been watching the Metallica covers of SCC too and like their version a lot.

It has been so hard to keep up with everything here over the last couple of weeks! Now that I'm on holiday, I'll be able to go back and read it all and catch up! I thought I'd share with you one of the adventures a couple of my kiwi friends are having.... They travelled to the US for 6 QAL shows starting in LA and both Vegas shows. They have so far met and spoken to Eber, Sutan and Sauli! And last night they met Adam's driver and had a chat. Nothing here is new to us, but I love hearing people talk about Adam like this and it is good to know he's still the same humble guy even with all this amazing success! Here is what my friend Trish wrote: "We chatted to Adams car driver last night he said that Adam was the most down to earth awesome person he has met. He has driven Rolling Stones, Madonna, Pink, Nini Inch Nails. He said Adam & Pink have been his favourites & Madonna was awful. He got to see the show last night and ranked it up with the birth of his son as an experience. He was a really sweet guy. He said he would mention to Adam that there were people from NZ there to see him you never know. ps just remembered something else. The question was asked "Is Adam on time" he just laughed. I said "Is Adam time challenged?" He said yes. Last night he was waiting for the call to take him to the concert. 7 o,clock (designated time) came & went, 7:10, 7:20, 7:30 he was just going to ring Adam when he got the call. This will not be news to Glamberts. "Thanks for sharing. Love to hear stories like this. Glad he got to see the show too. Lol on the call time. No wonder the shows start late. Ahem.

I always wondered what Brian/Roger's feelings would be regarding Adam's habitual tardiness. Whether they would enable it or put their feet down. Personally, I was hoping they'd take a stand for punctuality, lol.
