It has been so hard to keep up with everything here over the last couple of weeks! Now that I'm on holiday, I'll be able to go back and read it all and catch up! I thought I'd share with you one of the adventures a couple of my kiwi friends are having.... They travelled to the US for 6 QAL shows starting in LA and both Vegas shows. They have so far met and spoken to Eber, Sutan and Sauli! And last night they met Adam's driver and had a chat. Nothing here is new to us, but I love hearing people talk about Adam like this and it is good to know he's still the same humble guy even with all this amazing success! Here is what my friend Trish wrote: "We chatted to Adams car driver last night he said that Adam was the most down to earth awesome person he has met. He has driven Rolling Stones, Madonna, Pink, Nini Inch Nails. He said Adam & Pink have been his favourites & Madonna was awful. He got to see the show last night and ranked it up with the birth of his son as an experience. He was a really sweet guy. He said he would mention to Adam that there were people from NZ there to see him you never know. ps just remembered something else. The question was asked "Is Adam on time" he just laughed. I said "Is Adam time challenged?" He said yes. Last night he was waiting for the call to take him to the concert. 7 o,clock (designated time) came & went, 7:10, 7:20, 7:30 he was just going to ring Adam when he got the call. This will not be news to Glamberts. "
Eri thanks for sharing this with us! I love hearing how people that come into contact with Adam say is is so genuine and nice. He was raised with respect and he gives that respect back! I had to laugh at the 'Adam time' question and answer! Somebody needs to buy that boy a watch with really BIG hands on it! Maybe something like this....... or THIS!!

Have to post because I FLOVE the opening combo of NIH and SCC!!! I was shaking my ass, right from the get go! The machine gun fire guitar and lyrics of SCC....... love, love, love! My first music loves were Rock and Punk. And Happycat, I have always liked Metallica's cover of SCC as well (even with their lyric changes)!

I see...can;t argue with the "angry voice" idea.... still "lost" bears a different meaning to me... anyhooo... I am going to pick on all of you, folks, who keep talking about WATC riffs. Soooo, explain to me please how would YOU like to finish the concert? No culmination? No climax? No glory ending? No FIREWORKS? How can you take the song out of the concert context and talk about it as if it is a stand alone song? : To me the whole build up with the "we are the champions off" repeated several times with increasing degree of embellishment and volume IS THE WORTHY END TO THE SPECTACULAR SHOW! I can't even imagine any better way. If the way for Adam to get the "gritty" "rock and roll" voice needed so people will give legitimacy to his performances of things like SCC is vocal damage (which is pretty much how it works - if Freddie hadn't died guessing he would probably have totally blown his voice out like Robert Plant etc have also done because they didn't sing with proper technique hence vocal damage hence gritty husky sound) - then I will take his slightly less pure versions because the flip side is I get WWTLF and Love Kills and a Wildest Moments etc etc etc. Jumping in. I attended both Vegas shows, and here is what I wrote about Adam at a private Queen fan Facebook group: "I would also give constructive feedback to Adam that, in my opinion, his gifted voice would be even more perfect if he would use his highest range more judiciously. A little of that goes a long way & makes more of an impact when it's used to truly accent key parts of songs. I love Adam and his voice, but honestly by the end of the show, I was tired of hearing that high tone throughout so many of the songs. I almost felt like the songs were starting to sound all alike with that same vocal delivery. If he could develop comfort with a lower range and even develop a more authentic sounding "rock" sound (grittier, for example), that would serve him well as a vocalist of a wide range of music."

Does anyone know if Lee and Scarlett Cherry were at the Forum concert? I was hoping they would be there and Lee would take some great pics of Adam and the show.

Should Adam have a more gritty rock sound?
ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!
Protect that beautiful voice Adam!!
If people want gritty they can go listen to someone else!

Just got a moment to catch up with today's discussion: the riff! And let me tell you, it is not just a random riff sang by a random singer, IT IS THE ADAM LAMBERT TRADEMARK RIFF! Why it is called THE ADAM LAMBERT TRADEMARK RIFF? Because only ADAM FREAKING LAMBERT could sing the riff like that and he has sung it this style since he graced the stage. Yes, we've heard it thousands of times. And yes, it sometimes predictable. But without that riff, you wouldn't know you are at a Adam Lambert concert, would you? And please don't argue with me that this is not a Adam Lambert concert, this is a Queen + Adam Lambert concert. If Adam was the lead singer, then he had the right to interpret songs his way. Aren't that the reason we all love him and appreciate him? Why now we wanted something gritty in his voice just because we wanted to please some critics or reviewers? No matter what he did or how he interpreted Queen songs, he would get negative reviews. He can't please everybody, so he better please himself first! So I say, Adam, you go and sing your face off with your style and your riff and your swagger. If some people couldn't really appreciate what you offer, then it's their loss. OK, end of my rant. Back to my lurking mode.

Susanneahhh, thanks for sharing. Totally get what you're saying. But what distinguishes Adam's voice is that high tone and he (rightly imo) is proud of it. I guess not everyone's cuppa on every song. Fair to think so. I like his lower register too. I quibbled about one riff on one song.
I was just listening to Guns & Roses's Appetite for Destruction. The whole album. Axl Rose's voice is one of a kind, super distinctive. At some points during his career, Adam does an Axl screech if appropriate to a song. But Axl at the Freddie tribute sounded like crap. The most amazing thing Adam seems to be doing on this tour is making the Queen songs look effortless. A total wake up call has been seeing random youtube Queen covers. Oy!

I just ran across a little article today about Longineu Parsons. He has decided to leave YellowCard to "pursue other musical interests." (For newer fans, he was the first drummer in Adam's backing band.) He is very talented, too, and has some excellent experience, if I recall, in blues and funk (family band). Longineu has started a new band called This Legend that he's really excited about. I congratulated him on Twitter and said that I missed him with Adam. He said he misses everyone (Adam, band, and Glamberts), too.
