Last night I was in line behind 2 Queen fans that saw Queen & Paul Rogers 4 times including a special concert in Aruba. They had seen the concert on Saturday and were not impressed with Adam. The husband said that Adam "tried to hit the high notes like Freddie", but that he didn't succeed. Another Queen fan joined in and said that Adam tried too hard. The first 2 fans preferred the Paul Roger's collaboration. They think that this collaboration with Adam will be only for this tour and that Queen will find another vocalist to tour with in a few years. See, this is an example of Adam singing and being up against 'phantom Freddie'. There is no way, that you can find video to prove that Adam did not hit certain high notes and Freddie did. Nope. Now, can they have their opinion about not liking the collaboration. Sure. Btw, they are probably right about this collaboration being only for a few years. Last I checked, it was actually only for a few months, but then, none of us is truly believing that one. But, in a few years, Brian and Roger are hitting 70, I bet hitting those drums and strings night after night will become a bit tiring, eventually. Right now, it seems like they have been so rejuvenated, so much so, that it is hard to imagine a stop, but eventually everything will run its course. Question is, whether new music will spring from this collaboration, and that will be interesting to watch, how it unfolds. First comes A3, though, please, pretty pretty please! Yeah i think if Qal dont do an album its in danger of being Queen feat that idol singer, or a tribute act (not that it feels that way). Of course A3 too me anyway is the first priority, Adam needs and wants Top 40 Success. Im fine with other ppl not warming to Adam, hes not for everyone, its a taste thing, but its the ignorance thing that gets to me. Like saying they well find another vocalist in a few years lol, i mean for Queen fans they are a bit misinformed. Apart from B and R being in their 70's they have already done a fully fledged tour in Europe Two years ago, and now the US come Canada, come Oz, come possibly NZ tour lol. So clearly Adams it for them, at their age i just dont see them touring ever again with anyone, not in this capacity. Besides i think they are the minority.

67 & 65 isn't 70 or in ur 70s. Every year left counts!!!!! Seems like lots of older bands are reamerging and touring again.. pretty remarkable.IMHO this is great, the music of the last 20 years IMHO has been pretty awful and very generic.... I have no advice for Adam,in any shape form or way about how he sings or who he sings with... Adam seems to know just who he is and where he wants to go.However , he has said that he gets bored easily and like to change it up..

Yes Adam is his own man he will do what he wants too. I am proud to be a fan of someone that is willing to take chances.

The whole false equivalency of grit somehow being the sign of "authenticity" is BULLSHIT. Most of the time that "grit" is because the singer was chain smoking, the "dirty" voice and slurred words was because they were drunk or high, etc. Yes they had "Authenticity" but not because they had gritty voices, they WERE authentic. Most of those singers also destroyed their voices during their careers as well. Steven Tyler has had how many surgeries now? Meatloaf says himself he went out on tour and blew his voice out almost immediately trying to sing those songs off of "Bat Out of Hell". Someone tried to tell me once that Bonnie Tyler was "authentic" because of that grit in her voice. I had to tell them that the grit in her voice was because of surgery for throat cancer. Bob Dylan wasn't authentic because he had a crappy voice, he was authentic because he spoke truth to power. He is an incredible song writer and storyteller but he is the first one to say his voice is crap and his guitar playing sucks and he is mystified as to why people actually like his singing. The whole "authenticity" mantra is crap anyway. I think it was Oscar Wilde who said, "Give a man a mask and he'll tell you the truth". Rock and Roll is about liberation and rebellion so it mystifies me that so many "rock fans" buy in to all these "rules" for what rock is supposed to be. It's like with punk which was originally about DIY and breaking all the rules and became more about dressing a certain way or going through the motions of "stickin it to the establishment". It's funny how all these things start with the real rebels and non-conformists and then become just another set of rules complete with "uniforms" that everyone tries to conform to in order to fit in. Adam is more "rock and roll" than most of them because he does own thing his way rather than trying to conform to some set of expectations being set by the fan police. Trent Reznor had a convo with Bono once about his hesitation to pursue the direction he really wanted to go creatively because he knew it would be greeted with cries of "sellout". Bono's response was that not doing what you truly want creatively is the sellout. There are U2 fans who want Bono to sing the way he did in the Joshua Tree era even after they KNOW that the way he sounded at that time was because the way he was singing was literally tearing his throat up. Even knowing that, they still want him to sound like that because it was "authentic". That's not only stupid but cruel. How many singers are out there ruining their voices to get that so called authentic sounding rock voice? It makes me want to tear my hair out. ETA: Sorry this has been building for a while and I just needed to get it off my chest. ETA2: And Talon this is NOT directed at you at all as you give real reasoned explanations of what appeals to you and what doesn't. I'm at the end of a dead thread again darn it. But I just HAD to say how great this post is!!!! Couldn't let it go without commenting.

Oh, I don't do left right very well -- he's Stage Right = Brian's side. No problem. Everyone struggles with stage right, stage left, upstage and downstage. I have to mentally stand on the stage in order to figure it out. Brian is on Stage Left. Spike is Stage Right. Roger is Upstage. The thrust is Downstage. (Did you know that in the past, the back of the stage was actually raised higher than the front? Hence UPstage.) I just learned that recently!

Rihannsu - you have balls of steel, just like AFL!! GREAT POST.
Need to thank whoever hatched the idea of putting the little 'identifying extras' to each concert. It will help me when I finally clear the wine-induced cobwebs from my head and write of this odyssey. This is, after all, becoming a journey; one I'll resume in another few days. I'm beginning to understand that it's not just about Adam and Queen; it's also about finding my way along a path I thought I knew very well. Looking closer. Looking around me.
Hello, fellow travelers! May we continue to be worthy of bringing the story home.

If only it was so easy to get a paying job. Now I have to read the news thread with my notes page open so I can add to the list as everyone suggests more. Yeah for two monitors when I'm on the computer. It's a bit harder when I'm reading on my tablet. Wal posted her picture version on the Pretty Pictures thread this morning and I'm thinking she'll keep track of that for updates so that I just have to worry about the written version which I'll post again tomorrow as we get peeps hanging around for the concert.
