I'm fairly sure it's Rog's drum tech. He's there for anything Rog needs...Rog drops a drum stick...he picks it up or gives him a new one...if something comes loose, he's there to tighten it up.that kind of stuff...

Rihannsu: thanks for the thoughtful post that brought up a point I have been thinking about. (Very good point about the rasp of rock often originating from too much smoking and too much playing in smokey bars, too much drinking, and too much pushing the voice.)
Adam IS singing in his authentic voice. It is the voice that he has worked very hard to develop to its utmost potential. In an earlier post I had said Adam probably COULD sing off key, COULD slur his words, COULD strain at his vocals, but none of those things would be authentic to who HE is. He would be faking a sound. He said imitating other singers was how he very first started singing, until he learned how to craft his own voice and his own sound.
Talon: I totally understand where you are coming from. A person can appreciate and enjoy an artist and not like everything they create. Or think it is good, but if they did XYZ, it would be stronger. They can prefer certain styles of song, certain choices of subject matter, certain color and movement combinations. I grinned when you described the opening songs as cacophony. That's why you love them, and precisely why I don't. I thank you for continuing to hang in there with us and present us with alternative points in view in a patient and knowledgeable way.

hey didilynn, i read ur tweet that u were the one that Adam spit his "champagne" into the audience during KQ and wanted to know if u really caught his "spit"! if so, what did it taste like? Inquiring minds want to know! Pls tell us all about it! Sorry, can't report on the taste, pretty sure it was water tho. He spit all over my chest (lol), my shirt and skin was wet but there was no odor and no stickiness. God love ya!

Talon thanks for answering my question about the guy always crouching next to Roger on stage. Hope he wears ear plugs sitting up there right next to the band! Hate for anything to happen to his hearing.

The whole false equivalency of grit somehow being the sign of "authenticity" is BULLSHIT. Most of the time that "grit" is because the singer was chain smoking, the "dirty" voice and slurred words was because they were drunk or high, etc. Yes they had "Authenticity" but not because they had gritty voices, they WERE authentic. Most of those singers also destroyed their voices during their careers as well. Steven Tyler has had how many surgeries now? Meatloaf says himself he went out on tour and blew his voice out almost immediately trying to sing those songs off of "Bat Out of Hell". Someone tried to tell me once that Bonnie Tyler was "authentic" because of that grit in her voice. I had to tell them that the grit in her voice was because of surgery for throat cancer. Bob Dylan wasn't authentic because he had a crappy voice, he was authentic because he spoke truth to power. He is an incredible song writer and storyteller but he is the first one to say his voice is crap and his guitar playing sucks and he is mystified as to why people actually like his singing. The whole "authenticity" mantra is crap anyway. I think it was Oscar Wilde who said, "Give a man a mask and he'll tell you the truth". Rock and Roll is about liberation and rebellion so it mystifies me that so many "rock fans" buy in to all these "rules" for what rock is supposed to be. It's like with punk which was originally about DIY and breaking all the rules and became more about dressing a certain way or going through the motions of "stickin it to the establishment". It's funny how all these things start with the real rebels and non-conformists and then become just another set of rules complete with "uniforms" that everyone tries to conform to in order to fit in. Adam is more "rock and roll" than most of them because he does own thing his way rather than trying to conform to some set of expectations being set by the fan police. Trent Reznor had a convo with Bono once about his hesitation to pursue the direction he really wanted to go creatively because he knew it would be greeted with cries of "sellout". Bono's response was that not doing what you truly want creatively is the sellout. There are U2 fans who want Bono to sing the way he did in the Joshua Tree era even after they KNOW that the way he sounded at that time was because the way he was singing was literally tearing his throat up. Even knowing that, they still want him to sound like that because it was "authentic". That's not only stupid but cruel. How many singers are out there ruining their voices to get that so called authentic sounding rock voice? It makes me want to tear my hair out. ETA: Sorry this has been building for a while and I just needed to get it off my chest. ETA2: And Talon this is NOT directed at you at all as you give real reasoned explanations of what appeals to you and what doesn't. You certainly 'hit the nail on the head' with this post- very interesting reading and so true.

It sounds like a lot of Atoppers landed really great seats for this tour. So, what is it like seeing Adam in 3D and up close and personal? Was there anything that surprised you? Something that you didn't pick up in all the pictures? Here is my answer to your question. I copied it from yesterday's concert -thread. 7.5.14 & 7.6.14 Q+AL CONCERT THREAD -- Las Vegas, NV USA yesterday at 08:39 Quote Edit Post Options Post by butterfly on yesterday at 08:39 .........This was the fifth time I saw Adam live, but I've never sat been standing so close to Adam, and I have to tell you who have not seen him yet, the harsh reality: None of the photos or videos do not do justice to him. He is a hundred times gorgeous, he has a lot sexier, and oh my god those thighs and arms and .... I can honestly say even though I am an old woman, I drooled because of his appearance. Black trousers which he wore, should be prohibited by law. You will not believe what they look ....Thank you!! I knew it would be this way!
