True that Freddie wore those leaving-little-to-the-imagination outfits at times, but 'sexy' - I never saw it. Not at all. Now Adam, head-to-toe in black leather and those skin-tight black leather pants - OMG! sex-on-a-stick. Adam exudes sex. He doesn't need raunchy - he is innately sexy. He's just as sexy in a gold glitter suit wearing a crown. And that bit of chest that he shows - utterly enticing. SEXY - HE JUST IS...

talon -- Here are some other thoughts I shared with Queen fans after the first Saturday night Vegas show. I think you'll understand: "Strangely though, the most memorable part of the set to me was Roger doing Days of Our Lives, really touching, made me feel how much Queen has meant to me through the years. Also Brian & the guys doing '39 felt really good. I also didn't expect how much Freddie's parts would affect me. Made me long for him to come out & take over the show! Adam was good, but the ideal would have been to see/hear Freddie do the songs he personally wrote or put the original stamp on." After that show, I was just struck by how much I love Freddie and how big an effect he has had on my life. I felt rather wistful and sad in a way after the show, missing him. I felt I was able to enjoy the Sunday night show more, in that I was able to experience it on its own merits, and it felt like a great tribute to Freddie that Adam is carrying his torch forward. Somehow I feel like Adam would like to see Freddie up there too. Wouldn't we all?

The whole false equivalency of grit somehow being the sign of "authenticity" is BULLSHIT. Most of the time that "grit" is because the singer was chain smoking, the "dirty" voice and slurred words was because they were drunk or high, etc. Yes they had "Authenticity" but not because they had gritty voices, they WERE authentic. Most of those singers also destroyed their voices during their careers as well. Steven Tyler has had how many surgeries now? Meatloaf says himself he went out on tour and blew his voice out almost immediately trying to sing those songs off of "Bat Out of Hell". Someone tried to tell me once that Bonnie Tyler was "authentic" because of that grit in her voice. I had to tell them that the grit in her voice was because of surgery for throat cancer. Bob Dylan wasn't authentic because he had a crappy voice, he was authentic because he spoke truth to power. He is an incredible song writer and storyteller but he is the first one to say his voice is crap and his guitar playing sucks and he is mystified as to why people actually like his singing. The whole "authenticity" mantra is crap anyway. I think it was Oscar Wilde who said, "Give a man a mask and he'll tell you the truth". Rock and Roll is about liberation and rebellion so it mystifies me that so many "rock fans" buy in to all these "rules" for what rock is supposed to be. It's like with punk which was originally about DIY and breaking all the rules and became more about dressing a certain way or going through the motions of "stickin it to the establishment". It's funny how all these things start with the real rebels and non-conformists and then become just another set of rules complete with "uniforms" that everyone tries to conform to in order to fit in. Adam is more "rock and roll" than most of them because he does own thing his way rather than trying to conform to some set of expectations being set by the fan police. Trent Reznor had a convo with Bono once about his hesitation to pursue the direction he really wanted to go creatively because he knew it would be greeted with cries of "sellout". Bono's response was that not doing what you truly want creatively is the sellout. There are U2 fans who want Bono to sing the way he did in the Joshua Tree era even after they KNOW that the way he sounded at that time was because the way he was singing was literally tearing his throat up. Even knowing that, they still want him to sound like that because it was "authentic". That's not only stupid but cruel. How many singers are out there ruining their voices to get that so called authentic sounding rock voice? It makes me want to tear my hair out. ETA: Sorry this has been building for a while and I just needed to get it off my chest. ETA2: And Talon this is NOT directed at you at all as you give real reasoned explanations of what appeals to you and what doesn't. You certainly 'hit the nail on the head' with this post- very interesting reading and so true. THANK YOU for speaking up... destroying one's voice is now called grit. Nothing is worth destroying what you have worked so hard to build.. a one in a billion Voice.

Just got a moment to catch up with today's discussion: the riff! And let me tell you, it is not just a random riff sang by a random singer, IT IS THE ADAM LAMBERT TRADEMARK RIFF! Why it is called THE ADAM LAMBERT TRADEMARK RIFF? Because only ADAM FREAKING LAMBERT could sing the riff like that and he has sung it this style since he graced the stage. Yes, we've heard it thousands of times. And yes, it sometimes predictable. But without that riff, you wouldn't know you are at a Adam Lambert concert, would you? And please don't argue with me that this is not a Adam Lambert concert, this is a Queen + Adam Lambert concert. If Adam was the lead singer, then he had the right to interpret songs his way. Aren't that the reason we all love him and appreciate him? Why now we wanted something gritty in his voice just because we wanted to please some critics or reviewers? No matter what he did or how he interpreted Queen songs, he would get negative reviews. He can't please everybody, so he better please himself first! So I say, Adam, you go and sing your face off with your style and your riff and your swagger. If some people couldn't really appreciate what you offer, then it's their loss. OK, end of my rant. Back to my lurking mode. Love when you delurk!!!!!! Right on!

OKAY...I think it is good to post this ....opens the door for a comment I have been wondering about making myself, a few years back, and never did. Appreciate that this remark, it is now up and out there ....and from a "somewhat" but not really, humorous perspective. I have been in the same position as this person, but he had more guts!! People discussing twitter messages and pictures, they are sending etc etc. not even looking at the performance for minutes at a time. Hey a comment back and forth, is fine... but to carry on a conversation, Atoppers, who go to more than one concert on the same tour, and who have this habit...well... I have sat beside/close to "a few" who have been in this mode! I am not sure if that was why they chatted ...'cause they would see more concerts in the next days, and it would not matter if they missed a song or part of... but sheesh---Etiquette should prevail for every concert!! LUV them, and their posts, but really....looks from another Atoper did not even click!! So tried to ignore and enjoy the moments! .. Others like me may only be going to ONE concert for that particular tour. (duck and dive)I'm another one going to only one concert. *sad smile* I'm surprised there was chatting going on at the QAL concerts now that i think about it. Isn't it too loud to "chat"? I remember during GNT people were talking during Soaked and that was a huge no-no! I think everyone here is savvy enough to know not to talk during the performances. Unfortunately we can't control others. You might think that everyone here would be savvy enough! But time to move on...The man who had the guts to ask some concert goers to refrain ....obviously had been bothered. (Not saying a conversation like over tea....but a few interruptions...well that is just part of being in a crowd...more lengthy or regular speaking voice is just plain inconsiderate.) True, re we cannot control others...hope we should not need to.

Have never once thought of Freddie as sexy! Nevah!! Great vocalist though. Not the best I've ever heard, but great!
